Hey ppl, i am wondering whether which firmware is better? As in smoother with lesser bloatware? Anyone has any idea about this? =)
The main difference I noticed is that the HK firmware does not have the option to turn off the camera shutter sounds while the UK firmware does.

I've been Note 1 user since March and love the device and additional functionality, not to mention screen size. Thinking about switching to Note 2. But I need to make a decision on whether I will go with International Unlocked or with AT&T Branded. I am not all that interested in having LTE speeds, though if it is available I will use it. The question that I have is that I do like to have updated firmware available to install as it comes out, which is often enough with International version. With Note 1 International and AT&T were different devices with different hardware, so firmware for International would not work. What about Note 2? It's hardware will be the same, sans LTE radio. Would International firmware work on AT&T branded version?
So, to summarise, I am trying to decide on:
1. International with no LTE speed but better battery and quicker firmware update availability
2. AT&T Branded with LTE speed and probably lesser batter life and possibly usual carrier firmware upgrades slowness.
3. Since all Note 2 are the same hardware with exception of LTE radio same international firmware will work across all versions.
Anyone has suggestions?
Thanks,
I am currently in China and would love to get the asian version due to the faster clock on the processor....
I have bought a chinese android phone before here, and it does NOT come with google apps or google store installed / etc. If I buy this an M8 here, I'm sure I can work my way around rooting / installing recovery, however, are most ROMs going to be compatible?
I am an American and I need the phone to work well in the states, however I tend to travel to China a lot. I would like the stronger Chinese version, but don't wan to miss out on having the apps / etc I'm already used to having.
As far as I have seen from searching the internet / etc, it seems the processor is snapdragon 801 but a slightly different model number. Would I still be able to flash a generic GSM rom with no problems? I don't want to pay higher than I would in the states for a phone that I could never customize to the point of it thinking/acting like it's an american phone, and I can't find any details ROMs that specifically state anything about the asian version of this phone.
Overall, does anyone know of any hardware differences besides the processor from the USA GSM variants? And will a custom ROM here work for the asian version of the phone? And/Or could I find a way to install the GPe version and it work (Best case if possible imo)?
No idea.
I've got an unlocked gsm h8 that I'm using on the german o2 network. When I bought the phone, I thought that "unlocked" is the equivalent of "unbranded". However, after the Lollipop update I noticed that I got the T-Mobile version of the OTA, 4.19.111.2. Indeed, the CID of the phone is T-MOB101.
There is no obvious bloat on the phone, unless you count fm radio. But perhaps I just don't know what is there from the Telekom and what's from HTC. Moreover, other carriers, for example O2 seem to have the "higher" ROM version numbers, 4.20.xxx.x. What is the difference betwern them? Is there any point on spending time and effort to switch the CID and convert from T-Mobile to O2 or any other version? Is the "truly unbranded" version 4.16.xxx.x any different? They all seem to be Android 5.0.1, but then what do those numbers in ROM versions stand for?
Currently have the tmo version and was wondering if anyone had been using the international version on tmobile.
If you have them is for a few questions :
WiFi calling/texting?
Cellular/4g signal strength?
Samsung pay?
Lag? stuttering?
Battery life?
Other mising/disabled features compared to us variant?
Where did you buy it?
Just trying to sort out if the international version would be worthwhile to get. The US version isn't bad and I'm really hoping that Samsung will make the Nougat update a bit snappier and hold apps in memory a bit better, and if it can do those two things then maybe I will just hang onto my SD820 version.
Hi,
Im a first time android user and recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S9 (International Version - SM G9600 - DUOS - Snapdragon). I need wifi calling very badly on At&T as my work and home both have bad reception so my purchase has handicapped me from making calls. I see a lot of forums talking about flashing At&T firmware on G960U VERSION. But i havent seen a single one talking about flashing it on g9600. Is it possible? I compared the specs and every hardware looks same except dual sim option. Will I brick my phone if i attempt it? Please suggest im in need to help from the pro community.
Regards.
