[Q] MIUI and Google Voice - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So first time MIUI user. Im liking it a lot, but i can't figure out how to install google voice. I go to the market and search for it, it doesn't come up. I go to the home page of google voice and go to the direct app page and it says no result found. I go to the android market place in the browser and it doesn't do anything when i try to install. Any clues?

That's pretty weird, are you just running stock(ish) MIUI without an altered framework or build.prop? I'm running the latest MIUI using Google voice and it shows up in the market for me.

Voice nav (text to speech) doesn't work on G2

Hi, I'm running a g2 rooted/s-off using the old method. I'm using the ota rom that I rec'd in november, along with cyanogen baconbits and an overclockable kernel. The problem is text to speech doesn't want to work. When I try to have it play a sample phrase from tts extended it plays no sound. Sometimes tts extended force closes. Under the text to speech configuration under android settings I can't get sound to play either, using any of the engines. I purchased an svox voice and installed the svox engine and that doesn't work either, although I can get the svox app to play a sample phrase.
I've tried doing a data wipe from recovery, along with trying any and all settings I could change in the tts settings.
My next step is to try flashing back to the stock rom, and see if that works. If anybody has any suggestions I'd love to hear them
Thanks in advance!

i had a similar issue conttacted htc there is a problem with tts extended that is installed on g2, and i think you installed espeak for android that causes a problem with both espeaks installed make sure you have default language selected
I couldn't get the Google Translate to work due to the built in espeak. So I deleted it out of the ROM and downloaded the updated version from the Market.
It worked fine then! You might try that since you mentioned you are rooted.
Can you select pico instead of espeak? I just noticed my espeak is not even selected.

[Q] Google Maps on Aurora v4.1?

OK, so I put Aurora v4.1 on my phone the other day. Had some minor issues during the process, but finally I got everything right. There's one problem, though.. Aurora doesn't have Google Maps by default and I can't get the application off the Market, because it won't show during search.
I eventually found an apk, installed it and it works. Well, sort of. There are some connection problems, but that might be a Radio Frimware issue. The thing that bothers mo most now is that Market won't install updates for it - it says my device isn't compatible.
Any tips? I mean, besides the obvious one - using an alternative application - which I have my own reasons against.
Thanks!

Google brings KitKat experience to all 4.1 and newer ROMS... thoughts?

ok so this is awkward.... seems google has released the new Google Search and Google Experience Launcher for all handsets running 4.1 and higher..... with Google ripping the forefront of KitKat out why move to it?
Lets get a list going as to what KitKat brings to the table behind the scenes....
1)better memory managment
2)Smoother UI experience(butter+)
3)built in printer support API!!! I love printing from my phone now!
For those that want to try the new Search and Google Experience Launcher here are the links.
Download Google Search 3.1.8 APK
Download Google Experience Launcher APK
yes this turns on "Ok Google" from the launcher and also allows Google Search to talk/ask questions back to you.
I still think we need KitKat as I have been running it and it is very smooth and seems to be snappier than the stock rom.
FYI the launcher will NOT work on our stock roms!!!
It is working on other phones with 4.1 but not our phone and stock rom(with stock kernel). You can use some modded 4.1 stock roms that replace the kernel. As I believe it is a kernel based issue there will likely never be a fix as no-one is going to put in the time or effort.
Well, the Launcher still needs to be side loaded even after the Search App updates, so it is a little different there. I like having hangouts handle sms. I also like the little things like the touch sounds and such. All of these things can be emulated, but it still takes work and a little knowledge to get a kit kat experience on a different stock rom.

This is true but the launcher will be on the play store and it has been reported that a card in now will popup asking if you want it.
For a stock rom you get the stability over most other roms but I must say KK on ours has been a really big surprise.
I sideloaded the new now on KK and the feedback is pretty sweet, no more hunting to find the right number to txt or call it will ask you and you simply talk back.
For me it's all about consistency in the experience. It drives me crazy to see a stock dialer or stock messaging app when I am trying to create an AOSP experience. That's why I generally go for AOSP based ROMS. It's just jarring to have the settings menu come up with a white background. OCD

Were you (or anybody) able to get this to work properly on ZVC? Tried the above, plus looking to get a potential lib, keep getting "Google Search" FC.

opppsss forgot to add that blurb. The launcher doesn't work on the LG OG stock roms. other 4.1 roms do work so it has something to do with the stock rom.
I'll add that in. The new Google search(Google Now) should be fine.
OP updated!!!!
Launcher didn't work for me on optimus 4.6 the OK Google feature worked but when I tried to add the search widget, OK Google went away. I don't know how to get it back yet either
Edit: turns out it went away cause I switched the language. OK Google command now works again

Just seen that there is an update for the english language pack that needs to be installed.
slid left to Google Now
scroll to the bottom
hit the three dots
select settings
select voice
select offline speech recognition
for those in the US ensure that English shows up and it is vers 28. For all others ensure you have downloaded your language.
BTW KitKat ROM users... this is NOT for you as it is all setup!

1) it only works for English US at the moment
2) its on a slow roll out, having the correct up-to-date apps is not good enough, Google have to have selected you to have the feature.
If I didn't get it wrong, LGs own search function is killing that feature in G3, so "Ok Google" works just in case Google search is active in foreground.

I installed Nova Launcher on my G3 in the UK and now OK Google starts from any screen of the launcher

"of the launcher" is not what the OP was asking. The new Google update allows for "OK GOOGLE" to be used from any app, anywhere on the device.

Android L Keyboard On Moto G

Here is a quick tutorial:
I get an error trying to install this over the stock google keyboard.
Try this.
This is the one which was available in Google Play Store, but was removed...
You don't need to uninstall stock keyboard, just install it as another app...
The guy who posted it on the google play store who got it removed because it was the actual stock android L keyboard and thats not allowed, posted it on amazon's app store. This one can be alongside the google keyboard with no problem.

I've been facing some problems using that keyboard since 3 days ago (before that it worked flawlessly.) Every time I press on a text field the Google Voice Input screen appears. I had to uninstall it so I could use the normal keyboard.

That maybe an issue with your rom... then again I don't really know. I have never had issues so I can't really tell you.
