I dont think that there is a temp root for the evo anymore. Her best bet is to Perm root using Revolutionary.io

Haha, i got her perm rooting. She doesn't have Internet at her house so she is downloading everything to the sdcard and copying it to the computer. She said the drivers installed fine. I want to ask before I finish with her, is there any complications from downloading to the sdcard first then moving files to pc?

What's her number? she a hot sexy lady? LOL!!!!!!! Tell her that there is a hot guy on XDA that wants her number. :-D Other than that. lol. who cares if it is fully rooted. however, IF SHE DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT HERSELF then it isn't for her. My professional opinion is unless you're married. Stay off her phone. lol. cause she could dump you at anytime for me. LOL! well, she'll be in good hands with me. so haha. LOL
*Runs away before you track me down to attempt to kick my ass. LOL!*

I've been away from this board a while. Any EVO 4G can be rooted now? Latest software and build? Is this similar to to the revolutionary method for the EVO 3D?

Haha, jerk. But ok, she just really wants to root it. But yeah, i totally understand your point. She really wanted a temp root because she doesn't like all the bloat. But all y'all have is perm.. She isn't dumb, just new to everything. And I mean 100% new. She won't know how to fix anything. I've explained to her what backups and all that good stuff is. She knows what an RUU is. But if something does go wrong, it's only me. So, I will just tell her to wait a bit and see if a temp comes out.

lol my thoughts exactly.
To be honest though to the OP, if she would come on the forums she would be able to learn real easy with step by step instructions on each ROM she wants to flash.
although if she just wants ROOT then that is fine aswell, but to just have S-OFF isnt much until you install SuperUser and BusyBox. you also want to get Titanium Backup so you can get rid of the bloatware either by freezing it or uninstalling it

helo with rooting evo

Hello guys. I was wondering if someone.could please help me with rooting my wife's evo. I'm not familiar with the evo. I've been researching it the.past couple days. My question is in the wiki I see the universal auto root but that uses unrevoked. I have just been reading that unrevoked causes problems so I was wondering if there.is a better way than using the unrevoked. My wife's evo is hardware 4 hboot 2.10 radio-2.15.00.11.19 and on software.version 3.70. So does using unrevoked cause.problems? Thanks for.all your help.
Nope unrevoked is the best way I love it, press a button boom follow simple instructions and your rooted!
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
no issue with unrevoked for me have used on 2 evos
if you want to get adventurous, try the link in my sig.
Thank you guys alot. I haven't been keeping up on the evo like I wanted to with the.epic finally getting 2.2 about time. Damn you guys had it for a while and are getting honeycomb to boot up. Amazing work. So if I use unrevoked forever and an update comes out how does that work? I know you get to keep root but what steps do you take? Thanks alot guys for the help.
Dkdude36 that rooting way.looks fun. Its alot.more involved.
haha ya that rooting method is 'fun' its not as hard as it seems though. to update, just flash a rom with the new software. if you dont know how to do this, then you probably should have used the manual root to learn, but i will tell you anyways.
Oh ok I got ya. Think you so much.bro. I appreciate the.help and support. One.more question. I know.its.personal preference but what is your favorite rom/kernel?

my favorite is the newest cm7 nightly (whichever is newest at any given time ) plus savagezen's newest nosbc. savagezen needs like a day of conditioning so you might get bad results the first day. just stay on it and you will be impressed. i get 30+ hrs battery and high 1550's quadrant scores.
Awesome. You guys have alot of options to choose from. I guess I'll look at what you showed me and show the wife and let her find one. Her problem is she loves htc sense. So I might be limited on what I can pick. I really just want to get that bloatware off and overclock it for her to speed it up. So if I use the universal script it flashes Amon ra recovery right? I've never used that before. I have always used clockwork Mod before.

I've always used unrevoked and then when its done I go into recovery and flash amon RA. Its worked multiple times for me. There are a bunch of different sense Roms out there. Warm and mikfroyo are most popular though. Plus a ton of themes and overclocked kernals to go with them. I myself use cm7 but its all personal choice.
If I use the universal root doesn't that flash amon ra recovery for me? Or do I have to do that after.I complete the root?

yep xhausx's auto root does the whole thing. try it it works. and if he doesnt he responds fast and makes it work within the hour.
Will do thanks bro. It looks really easy. I would.love to try cm7 on the evo. I know my wife would hate it but oh well. Once again thank you. You have really helped me understand everything. I always thought the evo was hard to root cause of the nand lock. I guess you could say I was intimidated by it. Just looking around you all have a great community here. Ill definitely be hanging around here a little more.

I'm running mikfroyo 4.6 beta at the moment to tes along with net toast 4.3.2 havsmore sbc... you cant go wrong with mikfroyo 4.5 with net toast 4.3.1 havs...quick. give it a shot and see how you like it
The sbc and nosbc is just how it trickle charges right (nosbc doesn't trickle charge)? How is the battery life with the nosbc one?
Definitely want some better battery life but don't want to kill my battery either. I'm running the sbc one now.

Yeah, development may slow down, but the Evo still has more development than most other devices. Despite developers moving to the 3D, there will still be development, and unless the bootloader is now encrypted (I know it has always been locked, I've heard that it's encrypted but I've also heard otherwise) we'll definitely see root for the new update. It may take some time, but it'll come.
If you know anyone with an Evo that doesn't care about rooting and hasn't installed the update, trade with them. You can activate the phones on your individual accounts, keep your number, and root right away.

Love the phone and all but from what i can tell is that rooting this phone u gonna end up wit a phone wit more problems etc...
Dont think samsung or sprint ever gonna fix this LOS problem everyone having so i believe this phone is gonna have very poor development, not to many people like myself want to root because of this issue people are having wit root.
Wit that being said is it worth going back to evo 3d???

First Sprint and Samsung have both stated it is an official problem. Which means 10/10 they will fix it or loose a lot of money.
Second dev don't care if you are scared to root because too many of us take these chances all the time.
Third why ask us if you should go back to the evo3d that's up to you... if you don't like the phone then change but if your not impatient and don't mind waiting on a fix, then sit and wait.

ET4G development

I'm not trying to be a jerk or one of those people who *****es and moans about stupid ****. I'm just wondering why we don't have an aosp kernel yet and why it just seems like development for this phone is lacking. I had an evo and it was so nice having so many options as far as roms and kernels and themes go. I just wonder if its ever going to happen? For this phone. And yes, I will be patient.
There is another tread just like this 6 spots down. Maybe post in that one?

Musclehead. Hell yeah. .
And you dont have an evo killer. The evo is already dead, it's been out for over a year. Sprint stopped selling them.
I agree...lol
I think you'll be happy to know that Rootzwiki gave a CM dev an E4GT. Hopefully it won't be long!
So development is lacking because we haven't released what you want? Try making one yourself.. I have been trying to address current problems before moving on.. building an also kernel that continues to LoS is pretty pointless no? Maybe my development is lacking, but I have still released more actual improvements than most, and I don't even have the device..
By the way, EVO was a far more popular phone, and still took quite a while to get also running....
