Your video just gives an error and wont play. Will this work with the 6.01.605.05 updated phones?
Ok got it to load but it does not show how you did it. Do you plan on sharing your secret with us?
I may share, my method still wipes your phone, so I just moved everything I needed to SD.
I'll write up a tutorial soon.

well when i rooted my replacement, after i ran revolutionary, and flashed a radio to stop bootlooping. i tried flashing ParanoidAndroid and it got stuck on splash screen so i had to slap a stock PG32.IMG in my bootloader to get anything to run then after that i flashed supersu and i was on 2.3.4 rooted.
I'm waiting guys, I've been offered money for this, I'm no longer realesing it publicly

You sir are a disgrace to the android community. Seriously.... asking for money for a root method? Nobody give this guy your money. He is clearly a troll. I doubt he even has a method for rooting. He will probably take your money and run. Even if he does sell you a working method you would only be contributing to this kind of behaviour.
Optional donations? Absolutely!

I was thinking the same thing and was going to say something but I figured I was probably just feeding the troll, but I doubt he even has a method either.
No worries guys... I've figure out how to create an exact replica (taste, smell, and feel) of the female anatomy using three pieces of rye bread, a jar of peanut butter, and four safety pins. I'll have the cobstruction tutorial up tomorrow.
But seriously, this guy is full of it. He's probably a 13 year old kid living in his parent's house thinking he's funny.
Troll! Close this **** and ban the douche IMO.

Honestly, downgrading isn't really that hard anyway
Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So, we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Dark Knight.

Root from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160511
simply dl, unzip to desktop, install other files on website, plug in phone "with usb debugging" and set to charge. Run Alpharevx and it will do all the work for you. It will also install Clockwork Recovery.
From there I did this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160745
and after that simply install the ROM you want in the Dinc2 Android Dev section of this forum. I have used CM7 and MIUI 1.7.8. I was a CM fan but am really enjoying the MIUI interface and themes. You can DL Rom Manager from the market and have it DL and install the latest version of either one of these themes, or you can dl them from this site and install them manually.

It came with it preinstalled I read that much and when I saw that got a little frustrated
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA Premium App
first thing to do when you're DInc2 arrives is check the software info. If you're still on Froyo, then you're golden, you can use a free software utility made by Alpharev X to S-OFF (bypass the digital signature that prevents unauthorized software installation). If it comes preinstalled with Gingerbread, you're boned; the only way to S-OFF is to use an XTC Clip which will cost you abit of cash. If you find yourself needing to go that route, PM me, I have an unused PAYG XTC Clip with 1 credit.
In came with gingerbread is there not a way to flash the froyo Rom like the fascinate if not I don't think ill root for a while in case I need to take my phone in

So since I messed up my first Droid by rooting and then OTA updating I was cautious about rooting my shiny new Droid Incredible 2. I updated to 2.3 OTA because I was excited about some of the features I saw in the Nexus S but unfortunately not all those features made it to my phone. Soon after I read that I saw a post of an OC Incredible 2 with a Quadrant score of over 3000. I am asking anyone out there, is there a way to root OTA 2.3 and if there isn't can some one as soon as they hear how to post here. Thanks.
Look into XTC Clip. I don't know if it can or not, but it's probably ur 1st choice right now.
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA App
XTC clip is currently the only method, unfortunately. And in reality, that is only getting you S-OFF. However, from there, you can move on to rooting.
No GB root at the moment.

well if your wife's phone is still on froyo, you should be able to use alpharevX to s-off then root it.
EDIT: just realized the title of this thread. too many threads open, got confused.
I'm wondering if there is any way to rollback from Android OS 2.3 to 2.2? Anybody ever had to do this on the Incredible 2?
Nope...unless you use a xtc clip, root, and then flash a Rom.

You would think a signed RUU or ZIP could be flashed via the bootloader. I updated by putting the 2.3 signed zip and flashed it via the bootloader. Weird that you couldn't return it back to a signed 2.2
Here's to hoping Revolutionary will exploit GB on the Incredible 2.

Just as HTC has patched the various root exploits as the newer devices have come out, they have also added version checking to the bootloader to prevent you from flashing an older ROM with a lower version number. It didn't use to be that way, but that's just the way HTC is rolling now.
Let's hope the unlocked bootloader policy with eventually become available for existing devices like the Dinc2 / IncS.
you would think that because the evo and sensation are similar it would be easy to find an s off solution

It's only in English, not in laziness.
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA App
It's not that it was laziness. The phone is not mine and rooting/s-off was not a priority for what this person was going to use the phone for.
The question was already answered bangdrum. So please, take your asinine comments elsewhere.
There's a search function for a reason. So yes it is laziness. There is already at least 5 threads asking this question.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using Tapatalk
I agree with bangdrum. My DINC2 came preloaded with GB so i didn't have a choice of upgrading or not and right now I can't afford an XTC clip because I'm moving to another state. Everyday I check a variety of forums to see if she off has been achieved. It's not hard to use the search button or even footprint for that matter. It's NEW posts like this that I see EVERY day that get my hopes up. This goes out to everyone........ Do a little searching and you will find your answer.

I am S Off by Xtc clip , and if have already done 2.3=>2.2 and reverse , its possible butif you arent S Off using the CLip i cant be certain .

If you want to call it laziness, that's fine. But you don't have to come in and say "How many threads of these are there going to be"? The question was already answered... just leave it at that.

My INC2 came with Froyo and I upgraded to GB but is it possible to do a factory reset back to Froyo? Or am I stuck with GB?

Sevenzig, just ignore that troll.
If you have updated to GB, currently there isn't a way to obtain temp root in the Revolutionary s-off process.
As another member stated, HTC placed checks to not allow you to downgrade (example: 2.3 back to 2.2).
Hopefully here soon temp root can be obtained on the DInc2 with GB. There is temp root for the Evo 3D and Sensation and they came preloaded with 2.3.3. So hopefully Revolutionary has something up there sleeve soon.

Damn. I wish this was like modding 360's before the Lite-On drives needed to be speared to flash them.
Greetings! I am new to the DINC2, just downgraded from my Droid X2 (or upgraded, however you want to call it) and love it! The phone (unfortunately) came out of the box with 2.3.3 (I even asked the guy to check before he started setting everything up). Anyways, I came from the DX2 because there isn't much development going on for it at the moment and I honestly needed something smaller. So far I love it!
TL;DR
Holy crap did this thing come with a lot of bloat! I've looked around the forums and seen that GB is unrootable at the moment. Does this phone work at all like the DX2 as far as SBF goes (probably not, since RSD is Motorola)? Anybody have a clue when it's going to be rootable again? Like an ETA? I will gladly donate to whoever is working hard to make this possible!
Thanks!
From my less than 24hrs with the inc2 I have figured out there is no eta for root. You cannot sbf like motos. You can not downgrade like the incredible via a ruu. We are waiting for an exploit. It took over 2 months for an exploit to be found for 2.2. So it is a waiting game.

This is true. However, if you can't wait a probable couple of months till root (by alpharevx/unrevoked) then you could always obtain s-off by purchasing an xtc clip. This is the only known way to root gingerbread currently.
There is a rumoured new update coming out. Of you are rooted or want root please hold off as you might lose your root ability. Just a warning of friendly advice.

Yeah. I just got the phone today for my wife and it updated while it was charging before I could root it...which sucks since rooting it played a HUGE role in the decision to get this phone.
I'm guessing I could really break something if I just tried the unrevoked/alpharev/revolutionary approach regardless of the fact that I now have hboot 0.98 huh?

****, I was afraid of that. Now I wonder if I should try to return it and try again...damnit.
Is the update going to try and force itself or will it does it have to be a manual update?
Also, if you are running a custom rom will this still effect people, or just people running stock root?
Unless things are different from my Original Droid then custom roms don't need to worry about it since most of them have OTA updates turned off.

How long for the exploit on 2.3.4 since we already have 2.3.2 done.
Sent from my ADR6350 using xda premium
My crystal ball says it will take 3 months and 9 days to find the next exploit, and 4 months 15 days for the next patch that kills it.
It seems that one of the biggest benefits of custom roms are freedom of forced updates. I guess this is the answer to all the people concerned about getting s-on for the event of a return.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using Tapatalk
Wow, this thing pushes through without user consent? Holy crap am I glad I'm running CM7.
Just a thought - would users who have received the update against their will have the option of flashing the previously released gingerbread RUU? I'm guessing that even if they could, they'd still be stuck with the updated hboot and therefore unable to get s-off. I'm not really sure how all that works though. Anybody smarter than me have any thoughts?
Sent from my Incredible 2 using XDA App
The new OTA is pushed to your phone but it offers the option to accept, postpone or reject.
I am rooted (stock rom) and made the error of accepting. After the update my phone would not boot completely (erred with white triangle, yellow exclamation point, blue android). You can follow Conduitz's fix found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233267
NOOB Question
If I want the update and could wait for Root (have root now), how does one go about getting S-ON again? I used the alpharev method.
thanks in advance.
