Hey ppl couldnt believe it happend but it did happen my phone glipped out of my hand when wanted to take my phone out of my pockets and didnt had in my gel case bcz I do love the looks when going outside I never put on the gel case, only when go to work to protect it. Well I better did it also just going outside grrrrrrrrrrrr....
Anyway I'm looking for a full cover now and found it on ebay but my question is, is there anywhere a manual how to diseamble the Arc ?
Also those covers are they as good as the orginal, I remember I did this with another phone and it was pretty cheap cover I must say. Well the arc plastic does look cheap too if you ask me but the design is great and light.
If you go outside remember to always put it in a gel case bcz it's so slick as fish in the hands !!!

Thx man but this looks difficult and seems you need some special tools too hmmmm....
Anyone know how much they would ask if done by SE dealer ?
I do have the crack on the sensor too but now I dropped my phone and is little bit bricked on the corner, I cant bring it back in and ask they make for free bcz of the wellknown crack above the sensor.
I hate so much to know it's little bit cracked and is still pretty new grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
If anyone replaced his full cover of his phone, pls share your knowledge and expierience here, it would be very usefull for other ppl with same problem
actually even if you have damage to the case if you got a crack at the sensor they will change it. I had lots of scuffs and marks on my case, but also had the crack. I sent the phone and they fixed it and sent it back. Should be here on monday. And it was free.

Well I think is worth the try and relocked my arc. But damn I dont know if I can be that long withouth my phone now
I will keep you updated but cant live with these marks and if wanna sell the phone in the future (I have interests in the Samsung Galaxy now also), nobody likes to buy phone with marks or they try to reduce the price a lot bcz of it.
See here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1250986
I replaced everything in a reasonable time and with little bit of patience and effort...
Hope it helps

so, for the second time in about 5 months, my dash lcd screen cracked. luckily (this time) i don't have to pay anything. it's apparently a known issue. is there anyway to prevent this from happening? this time the phone was in my jeans pocket with an iPod nano & i wasn't doing anything extreme besides walking. i tend to take good care of electronics so this is real annoying. also, i have a case i use

Use a holster or a protective case to carry your Dash. They are available on numerous websites. Also, you can buy protective screen covers. They have them in the accessories section on the T-Mobile website and many others as well.
sorry, i didn't mean the actual screen cracked. i meant it looks like ink exploded in the back ground. the actual screen is fine. it's behind it that's the problem.
Okay... so what's your question... or issue then ?
the screen appears to be cracked behind the actual 'glass'. so it looks like ink bleeding across the screen ( i saw someone else posted about this). i can't figure out exactly how/why this happens & t-mobile was of no help. i was just wondering if other people have experienced this. i found some related messages on another forum but no one had a solution to stop this, other than use a case. which i do.
I has a similar problem once.. Tipsy fiancy decided to grab my phone, knocked it into the leg of a table.. Cracked the crap outa the screen.. I ended up calling tmobile and saying "my screen doesn't work any more.." They kindly replaced my phone with no hastles..
if something like that happened, i could understand. the damn thing was in my pocket for about 1 minute!
Sorry dude - its broken.
The LCD has a couple of layers. One of back layers are broken.
This is one solution:
http://cgi.ebay.com/T-Mobile-DASH-E...ryZ20336QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Search ebay for better offer.
This is some video tutorial:

hmm..apparently i didn't explain myself enough. t-mobile i sending me a new phone for free. i just want to prevent this from happening in the future. i guess i'll just step up the case i already have. i'm looking at this one:
http://www.boxwave.com/products/armorcase/armor-case-t-mobile-dash_2355.htm
I think this case is better:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Fr-T-Mobile-DAS...ryZ20336QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Coz its simple, good looking and lite.
that's pretty much what i have now & my phone's broke twice now
i think i need something that protects the screen too. or HTC should fix this problem that numerous others have complained about.

I have that exact case - its pretty good! I've been using it for 8 months now and its been fine. I don't think it really helps the screen all that much, but I have a screen protector on too. The only problem is that the phone is not so grippy with the case on. Overall I'm happy and it didnt cost much. Actually I use another case
Actually I have this too:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330152841341&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle%3D%2B330152841341%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1
Its for the Cavalier but fits (with the other case on too) perfectly. This one I love!
I put my phone ot shirt pocket - no movement, no problem.
during the winter, i always put my phone in my jacket pocket, never my jeans. and the two times i've put it in my jeans this has happened
therefore
i will not putting the phone in my jeans!
guess i'll just have to be even more careful than i already am. i ordered a nice case with a screen protector & shock resistant.
thanks for the help!
Yeah, that's gonna snap the first time he sits down, also! lol
Stick with a nice leather case. I'd recommend the nice, Palm branded, horizontal case they make for their Treo's.
Hey does anyone know where I can get new houseing for my arc. With the chrome bezel.
Thanks.

OK...I've got parts yesterday and have to say that those are really genuine ones!(...or really really solid fakes)!
Today I needed 1.5 hours to replace complete LCD screen, middle, back and front covers, with all small (OMG how tiny they are...) parts. Everything fits perfectly and now phone looks and feels like brand new one.
I have to mention that several parts are, kind of glued to the housings (especially middle one) so those need extra careful removing in, as much as possible, dust free area.
Also I used service manual downloaded from net, so if anybody needs it or any kind of help/advice I'm here for you...
BR
where you bought it?
My poor arc has been scratched on the screen, i don't know if i need a case or a complete LCD Screen
Okay here's the deal.. I currently have an HTC Desire, and I recently tried the SGSII.. My desire is a FREAKING TANK! I cant hurt it no matter what I do, including sending it flying across the room more times then I care to admit.. the glass has one tiny light scratch from when it spent a day in my pocket with my keys.. The SGSII on the other hand, I dropped it (rather gently) from my pocket the day I got it, and the case got a huge ugly gouge!
We've all seen the video of the guy taking his keys to the glass, which is what you should be able to do with any smartphone, but how does the actual case housing stand up? anyone got any stories of terrible incidents it survived unblemished?
I am hard on my phones.. I dont deny it, so I want something that will handle a beating and I'm kinda skeptical of Samsung after my experience with the SGSII.
P.S. my alternate is the Amaze
I too had a Desire and I have to say I am very pleased with the build quality of the GN. I can't say I've thrown my brand new phone across the room or even dropped it yet (I'm not the most accident prone) but it seems to be a sturdy piece of kit!

If you were unimpressed by the build quality/durability of the SGSII casing, not much is going to change with your feelings on the GN. Its built pretty much out of the same materials. You're best off sticking with an extra case if you get it.

Dropping it on carpet just proves that the screen/internals won't break from a hard fall. I think what OP is referring to in the case of his old SGSII is big gouges or scratches in the casing, which the GN will probably suffer from the same way.
I ordered this for good measure..lol

Yes I was referring to actually dropping it.. Every other week my desire gets knocked off the living room table, or the like. I don't actively throw it or go out of my way to be rough, but we have an active house, And things happen. I guess I'll have to look into a very slim case, as I usually just toss it in my Jeans front pocket And go.

Good to know.. but with my luck, having an extra case on hand in case of a disaster would jinx me. Then if I dropped it the screen would probably shatter...lol
Well there was that thread where a guy cracked his screen.
The bit that worried me was when a second guy posted his cracked too. He put it in his pocket as normal, got to work and the screen was cracked :/

Sounds like BS to me. There had to be something in his pocket putting a lot of pressure on the glass. And he must wear some skin tight jeans for that to happen... or something bashed his phone.
I always put my phones in my jeans pocket. OG Droid, and Nexus S. Always keep that pocket empty but my phone.
I read about screem gap but i was unsure what exactly was meant. I just took a closer look and found out that there is a tiny gap between my screen and phone on top in which dirt fills in and it pisses me off. I havent dropped my screen once and if i push the top left part of my phone i can hear a sort of "click".does that make my phone faulty? Im really annoyed vy the dirt that fills in... Apart from rhat phone has no problems.

send it back. that is what i am doing. left hand side of the phone between the screen and the plastic you can see dust getting inside there to. plus if you press the left hand side tad hard you can hear it creaking as well. i called HTC to see if they could replace it for me straight away without sending it for repairs..waiting for an outcome tomorrow...if they say no i will just send it for repairs and hope they find the problem and either fix it or replace it then...i know it will drag for a week but at least that way you know one way or the other it will get fixed...
i was going to say if it does not bug you then leave it..but you sound just like me that even though the phone works fine it will bug you cause you know it is there
should i go to my provider or directly cpntact htc? And just to understand it better. Gaps are not supposed to be there, am i right?

Dont replace it as you have no other problems. Go to HTC repair center and just fix it. If you replace there may be a chance of getting more faultier one.

It amazes me some of the reasons people will find to return an otherwise perfect handset. Considering the amount of serious problems floating about this phone, I don't think a creak or 1mm gap between the bezel and screen constitutes a return. Get over it and enjoy the phone.

Ive heard that the one x was made in 2 different countrys taiwan and china... china being the worst built ones buttt I must have a really faulty dhd. I've had it for 10 months now and my screen moves, doesn't fit right on the phone as there should be a lip round it but isn't my speaker isn't straight so is sloping. Looks like the cnc machine hasn't cut it right. Power button is really recessed too far in..... I think a little sqweek is nothing to really worry about if the screen falls out then ya I'd send it back.

well that is what worries me about the whole damn thing..if it gets to hot to soon and in two months down the line the screen actually does fall out
TBH ive just checked mine and it does have a slight gap with lint building up already (bare in mind ive had this phone 2 days) Also have the yellow blotch on the screen AND a dead pixel. This is by far the best phone ive ever owned...But my word these little niggles are grating on my moobs! Ive never had to send a phone off to a repair centre before but im not really willing to put up with the problems the phone has (however ridiculously small they seem to some ) You expect some software issues in an early batch, but dead pixels, discoloured screens, gaps occuring out of nowhere between the screen, its a bit much really! Im gunna have to get it sent off soon i think, gutted!

Just another option

Do you even realize how big 1mm is?!!!! Get a ruler and see please....
I doubt even a blind person could enjoy a phone with a gap big as that. You would not just see this, but also feel.
I have a gap that's about 0,1-2 mm big (measuring with paper, which is about that in average I think 0,1 till 0,3 I think but also not sure) and its around the whole screen on both sides of the ring.
Ugh...1mm...
But seriously guys, how big are the gaps it makes you return it?
I mean should I return it with 0,1 mm ? (maybe less) seen a bigger gap on SGS 2.
the screen broke. I don't know what part of it broke exactly though. it was in an otterbox and i want to cry haha, but the outside of the phone looks perfect and the gorilla glass is still in one piece, but below it you can barely see a crack going from the top to the bottom. The phone still works cause i still get text messages and everything sounds correct, but nothing on the screen turns on any more. It just stays black. What's the best/cheapest way to fix it? should i just sell it broken on ebay and buy another phone? What should I do?
Thanks!

Honestly insurance is the best way to go if you have it on the phone. The phone requires you heat the front of the glass carefully to remove the digitizer and that gets pretty much destroyed after doing it. There is glue bonding it together. If you were able to get that off cleanly you can get to the LCD which seems to have gotten damaged from what you're saying, which can be bought online like ebay and such. Good luck to you.
i would try insurance but for about $200 you can get the screen and bezel in one piece and change it pretty easily. I would not go the route of trying to change the glass and lcd. it is way too messy.

You probably could fix it for yourself for like 30 bucks seen people do it on youtube
sounds like exactly what happened to mine ... I feel your pain .
may I suggest contacting your local Samsung repair center and asking them what your options are .
You might just get lucky like I did and they fixed mine for free .... no guarantee but it doesn't hurt to try .
