[Q] Fastest Sense 3 ROM? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I realise this has probably been asked a million times and to a certain degree is personal preference, but which sense 3.0 ROMs do people generally find to be the fastest?
I have tried a few but always end up going back to Cyanogen, I really like the sense features but just haven't been able to find one that is fast and stable.
Also, slightly off-topic, is there a way to back up all my apps etc. and then restore them when moving to a different ROM? It's annoying to have to download them all again!
Thanks for any help.

Try virtuous v2.0. It's sense 2.1 not 3.0 but it is fast and stable...

Virtuous unity is arguably the best sense 3.0 rom for DZ/G2. Also you can back up apps and data via titanium backup then restore them after. Hope this helps

The fastest sense ROM is probably the one that has sense stripped out of it (can't remember the name, senseless or something like that).

Titanium Backup. I recommend buying the PRO key in order to batch restore with just 1 click. Its worth it if you switch ROMs with any decent frequency.

OP is specifically asking for Sense 3.0 features.

Unfortunately fast and sense 3.0 don't really go in the same sentence.

I was thinking this was probably the case unfortunately.
Thanks for the help everyone though, think I may have to suck it up and go for sense 2.1. I just much prefer the sense interface and especially the camera.

Well, seems like I've been way too much in the off topic section...
Mods are free to delete this, but until then, people are free to vote
For me Sense
perhaps it would've made sense to include a poll (see what I did there..?) but for what it's worth, I prefer AOSP

I agree with this, Sense rules
AOSP for me. I prefer the speed.
Sense for now; when android 2.4 come out, probably AOSP
Haven't been using custom roms for long but so far I'd definately vote for Sense.
Definitely AOSP, far more faster and cleaner UI.

AOSP fo' sho'!
Sense lasted about a week for me until it lost it's sheen. It's quite slow and bloated compared to other ROMs I've tried.
Sense is king of the hill here. Too much awesomeness under the hood to let it slide. It ain't all in the widgets and bling u know.
AOSP for me just bcoz of speed and clean interface....
For those voting sense and never tried AOSP their vote doesnt matter.
Question would be how many of them came back to sense after AOSP? That will be interesting. If you never tried both world its useless voting.
Hm yes where are the poll buttons I think there's a few threads like this gone by over the months - but Sense for me too

I have never got pissed and twitching to install aosp if I was using Sense due to the lack of some feature I needed at that moment, but did vice versa. So the real question is how you live with that lack of feature? Similar speed when using alternative launchers and lower battery efficiency seem like a tough tradeoff here.

Sorry If I might have sound like im against sense. Im not against it. Its about personal choice.
My only point was if you only tested sense you can not say sense is best.
For me I found AOSP better in terms of battery and I cant find any lack of feature compare to sense.. Can you mention any particular.
(I have used leedroid and insertcoin in sense and oxygen gingervillian and miui-xj in AOSP)
I prefer a clean AOSP!
BUT its more complicated to keep up to date and its not homogeneous!
So i stick to sense at the moment!

My perfect one ATM is Ginger Yoshi.
It's like CM7 only better
yes,this will be my base
You might want to work on a Ginger - Sense ROM, if it is possible. Because, ATM, there are a lot of 2.3 AOSP options out there, and, just one Ginger Sense (Which is sadly abandoned). So, you'll probably get a better response.
Just my 2C.

Isn't there Gingersense for the Desire already? My friend is using Crystal Kingdom 3 (Sense 3.0) on his Desire, and, just a quick browse in the Desire Android Development Section shows a lot of Gingerbread Sense ROMs.
Obviously, since you have decided already, this post is kinda pointless, but, just letting you know.

G2 speed question

I am looking for some advice on a rom. I wanted a few opinions on what my best bet was for a bare bones, blazing fast rom. Feel free to include kernel choice, benchmarks and or setup. the search function really didn't give a clear answer and I just figured a few user opinions would help. Thanks.

I think that this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1246682 might be one of the ROMs with the least amount of bloat ware, it's pretty dam fast, and it's got great battery life and very good instructions on how to set it up
Bare bones fast? Virtuous G-lite. Why? Because im a huge fan of virtuous! Simple clean and fast.

Virtuous G-lite and Elite Mod are ESSENTIALLY the same thing but Elite Mod has a few more tweaks to it and has a different kernel and such. I'd say try both and see which one suits you. I have tried them both and for a fast non-sense ROM they were both pretty much equal.
CM7 has been fairly quick for me...
And it doesn't throw away everything you might need.

[Q] ROM Recommendations

So my partners Blackberry has finally died & she's slightly pissed at me (I may have jumped for joy when she told me xD) Anyway she has asked if she can use my old phone (which I just use to play with know a days) which is this beautiful HTC Vision.
I'm trying to decided which Rom to go with as it will be her first ever Android device, I got her to play with a few different android devices from where I work & the only thing she said was "I don't like them HTC's, there complicated" ¬_¬
So I'm thinking of using a Stock android Rom but as i haven't kept up with the Vision ROM development (To busy playing with my Galaxy Nexus xD) I'm gonna ask the good people of XDA..
Which ROM have you found to be the most stable & best battery life?
Thanks in advance guys & girls ^_^
If she thinks they're complicated try miui.us
If she wants asop go glite
If she want more customization use a cm7 based rom - try ilwt
If she wants pretty sense ask someone else I don't use sense
Don't go ics

I've been running Andro Beta 2 since it was released, and Alphas 5-12. All were solid for me as a DD.
Personally I would install Virtuous 2.0 and then supercharge it.

Not for daily use for someone that wants a complete phone. No camcorder, glitches, camera glitches if you don't use stock app, no fm.
I use Andromadus and wouldn't ever change it with Gingerbread, but I wouldn't suggest it for a new user.
Go Miui!

I always thought Sense was simple and awesome. The second one that is...but yeah, you should go with MIUI, it won't get simpler than that.
Yeah, virtuous sense 2. Smooth but with sense to help break android to a newbie.

I concur with this, ILWT is the way to go for CM7 based rom.
For sense, last time when I was in my flashing mode, Virtuous Sense v2.0.0 was my daily driver. Until it couldn't keep up with me, then I switched to ILWT

The only possible result from the many open-ended "which is the best" threads like this is that several people name several ROMs that they personally enjoy. "Best" means different things to different people; for example, I personally don't use the camera much, but for some people a flawlessly working camera is a must-have. You might as well just try them out for yourself.

Yep, just like any other ROM. Download; Nandroid backup; app backup if you want (Titanium Backup or something similar); wipe /system, /data, and /cache; flash ROM.
for stock gingerbread "Android Revolution HD" smooth, fast, great battery life, zero bugs...
for ICS: "Sabsa Prime", "Trick Droid", "Blackout", "Sabsa Bliss".
Sense 3.6: I liked Pachas rom very much and used it for a long time. Even tough the touch response has some issues I was pretty amazed by its speed and smoothness. In general I'm quite fond of Sense 3.6 because it's a nice combination of the advantages its predecessor and successor hold.
Sense 4.0: After I've decided to get some Sense 4 into my everyday use, I must say that (attention, laaaame pun incoming) Trickdroid really does the trick for me. The rom's main functionalities work quite well (I started testing Trickdroid with v3, so no judgement on prior versions) and the tweak package is adequate to customize the small things in one's own taste. The only issue I've still got is that I don't how to access the newly integrated Fallout Tweaks (I checked and installed them in the aroma installer) to get seven instead of five homescreens.
For me, the both Sabsa (prime and bliss) are the best. Sabsa Bliss for sense 3.6 roms and Sabsa Prime for sense 4 roms.
