The boot loader was the official 2.3 and that was then S-OFFed with Revolutionary, that then had the Oxygen R2 HBOOT Partion table on it.
Now I ran the 2.3 update on the wrong phone.
The HBOOT Currently says Alpharev Oxygen r2
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNW0101
RADIO-4.06.00.00.02_2

Then is just says RRU instead of the usual options
When I first turn it on, it shows a black screen with white HTC and 4 ! in triangles in the corner.
I've been told this is bad...
If I try to run the updater, it eventuaklly goes to recover mode and says its fixed but its not.
I get this on the desire screen
[1] RADIO_V2 OK
[2] SPLASH1 - OK
[3] RECOVERY - OK
[4] SPLASH2 - OK
[5] RADIO-CUST - OK

Maybe a full wipe helps. And it could be that you derooted your handy. In this case you had to run unrevoked again.
Good luck

Try running the RUU again. Btw, you need to have HTC Sync installed.
I have tried running it again. Just hits the same "error"

U have the oxygen hboot, its too small for the stock gingerbread rom
Flash the downgrader hboot from alpharev.nl (otherwise the ruu CANT overwrite the alpharev oxygen hboot), then run the ruu
How do I go about flashing it? Everything seem pretty broke..
Any surely the RRU should be repartitioning the HBOOT to the correct size?

Nothing is broken..U have to read again alpharev.nl
Download from alpharev the file PB99IMG_downgrade.zip and following instruction:
http://alpharev.nl/
You can also download the corresponding PB99IMG zipfile, put it on your sdcard, and rename it to PB99IMG.zip. Then start the phone in HBOOT mode (VolDown+POWER) to flash the HBOOT without a PC.

It will ask u to apply the update, then accept it (volume keys to navigate, power button to confirm)
After that ur hboot can be overwritten by the ruu..and the ruu will work fine
The thing is I have already added the file to my SD Card. Now when I boot my phone, the VERY first thing it does is a black screen with HTC in white. and in the corners are 4 ! in triangles, The only way to see the HBOOT Screen from there is to connect a USB cable and unplug, on that screen I have no options to do anything!
I dont even have anything I can record a video on to show you, Arrrgh this is annoying. HTC would like money out of me for a "non-warranty issue"

HTCs customer support is terrible! Seriously do not want to be charged to get it fixed never mind a bloody shipping and handling fee!!

It contain a mininal set of files in order to use fastboot, without installing the android sdk
Then download this http://alpharev.nl/bravo_downgrade.img and put in the same extracted directory above..
Boot ur phone in hboot mode and plug the usb (u said with the usb plugged u see the hboot usb)..then from a command prompt from ur pc, go in the directory above and type: fastboot flash hboot bravo_downgrade.img
If that is successfull..u can run an ruu, and it should restore everything, even the hboot now!
Am I missing a trick I run it and it shows on screen for a split second.
And if it doesn't fix it?!

Hi, I'm trying to install alphaRev because from what I've read it enables s-off and provides a modified partition table. Currently I run
Oxygen rc7
Clockwork recovery 2.5.0.7
Hboot 0.93
AlphaRev says to download the alpharev zip file for oxygen, remake it and put it on my sd, which I've done. Then it says to go into hboot and install. How do I install the alphaRev zip from my sd in hboot!?
Any help!
The initial S-OFF needs to be done via a bootable CD, you then change the partition table after this should you need to. You need to read the instructions closer

hmm, OK. It's quite tricky for me as I have fairly rubbish dyslexia and so I get confused when reading
What advantages does S-Off provide? I will try that now and report back
If you don't know what it does don't even do it! Read up on it more before doing anything as it can potentially brick your phone with no chance of repair

I was less interested in the S-Off option, but wanted the modified partition table that AlphaRev offers over the stock HBoot. Apparently it providers a fair bit more space for apps on the phone. But, alas, I got Alpharevs flashing program and it worked fine. I am now running AlphaRev Hboot 0.93.0001 with S-Off (well, from what I think I read, S-Ignored!)
So, next question is, how do I get around to installing the modified partition tables provided on the AlphaRev site, or did this automatically get done as a part of the flashing process I have just done? I'm not trying to be lazy, I have honestly read around, it's just quite confusing (especially for me) and I find it easier when someone explains it in Layman's terms!
Direct from alpharev.nl and must be done in Fastboot:
1) Nandroid backup in recovery.
2) Verify the MD5SUM of the file you downloaded against the one in the table.
3) Flash HBOOT with your phone in fastboot mode (Back+POWER) -> 'fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl.img' (change into the correct filename for the HBOOT you downloaded)
4) 'fastboot reboot-bootloader'
5) 'fastboot erase cache'
6) Boot recovery, wipe everything and restore.

NP. As I said, it was copied directly from the alpharev site. Keep in mind that this can possibly brick your phone if the checksum doesn't match or something goes wrong during the flash.

Ok, I didn't actually get that far I did this technique:

I downloaded "PB99IMG_bravo_oxygen.zip" renamed it to "PB99IMG.zip". I booted into Hboot, it asked me if i'd like to update, so I said yes which it did... now... it's getting stuck on the Alpharev why so serious splash screen.
I wonder if I just bricked my phone..............................
Did you just reboot it after the flash? I'm not sure how to flash it via the SD card but something tells me that you still need a wipe and reinstall. Your ROM might not fit in the new partition. but I honestly have no idea, just trying to give you possible ideas. Wait till someone else can confirm.
So, yah, effectively looks like i've done something bad. AlphaRev installed fine and s-off is ok. Just the last steps I took to install a custom partition seem to have gone... wrong...
Basically, turning it on as normal and it gets stuck on the AlphaRev "why so serious" splash screen. It can operate fine in Hboot and Recovery mode... so what's the best way out of this mess?
EDIT: More info!
So, after flashing AlphaRev it displayed:
--Alpharev--
Bravo PVT1 Ship S-Off
Hboot 0.93.0001
etc...

I then used the SD Card flash means of install the Oxygen Partition table through Hboot. After this is when it gets stuck on the AlphaRev splash screen. It works in Hboot and Recovery. In the former it now shows

It looks to me like the flash was successful, you just need to wipe and reinstall the ROM. In this case, Oxygen or Redux..the only 2 that will fit in that partition.

Well, there you go, I learnt from a mistake. It can be scary when things don't go to plan, but i'm quite happy I managed to get it all installed and running. I just have to work out how to change the splashscreen to something else.
I saw the instructions about fastboot... but I don't exactly understand where the terminal is that I have to use. Do I connect it to my PC is fastboot mode and use CMD?
Yes, you use CMD. There is a tutorial for Fastboot telling you all the stuff you need to install to get it up and running. For flashing a new Splash screen you should look into the Android Flasher utility somewhere on XDA. It's basically Fastboot with a GUI so you can easily flash HBOOT, custom splash, radios and something else that I forget.
This is why you READ before doing anything. You've been lucky...

Might be the wrong format/height/size. Im'a fiddle more. I'll fix it until it breaks.
Maybe just try it again or ask in that the Android Flasher thread. I had no problem having it flash my image. Is the image the proper file format?
Think it needs to be BMP.
Got it working fine, was the wrong dimensions I believe. However, the app itself is about as stable as a woman on her period. It crashes every few minutes with unhandled exceptions
Im massively confused.
I would like to return my desire to stock, I've had nothing but signal problems since rooting and flashing another rom.
My phone was originally an o2 branded phone, so I have downloaded the RUU for the o2 (i'm guessing this includes the radio?) I've tried running the RUU and its gives me an error about my bootloader, I've just checked and the bootloader is 0.80.
Now this is where i'm getting confused, I can't wholeley remember what SDcard I made my goldcard. So do I need to make a new goldcard in order to compelte the Unroot or do I need to downgrade 2.2 to 2.1 using this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256 and then start again...
Or am I miles out?
Which ruu did you try?

You don't need a goldcard if you flash the ruu which was installed on your phone when you bought it.
So if you phone was o2 branded and you flash a o2 ruu , you don't need a goldcard. If you want to flash a wwe ruu (unbranded) you do.

I dont have a clue how to use either tbh, but Im willing to learn if its what I have to do to get this brick unbricked
Download the ruu again from the link eddy gave you.
Then use EddyOS his instructions about extracting the .zip file from the .exe you just downloaded.
You can extract the ROM.zip from any RUU to install via ZIP
Start the RUU and once at the first main screen click Start>Run and type
%temp%
now, find the newest folder and in there will be a ZIP file called Rom - copy this to your desktop and rename it PB99IMG. (Don't extract the file) Now copy this to your SD card and start the phone in HBOOT (turn it on whilst holding volume down). It will find the file and start the update. Just follow the instructions...
Do all this while not plugged into your computer. Not sure if it will work, but it's worth a shot.

made a goldcard for it
is it possible to fix?
I'm a SE x10i man so this HTC stuff is pretty foreign to me.
What do you mean it does not boot?
Hangs on HTC Logo? Or What screen does it hang?
You should:
1. Install HTC SYNC
2. Then install Unrevoked USB Drivers.
Boot your phone into fastboot mode (holding down BACK+POWER, when it is turned off).
3. If it says Fastboot USB, Run the .exe for the RUU from your PC.
Then report back.
P.S. If you made a cgoldcard for it, it is recommended to run the RUU from there.
Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah hangs on the HTC logo. just came up with an error : ERROR [152]: IMAGE UPDATE ERROR
What can not be updated? The Radio? Or what part?
thats a screeny of the error. i read last night about puttin it in the freeze for 5 mins. tried it last night it worked? [email protected]#s me how :s just unplugged it and it says that the RADIO_V2 - FAIL-PU i'll try again and let ya know
ok the freezer trick worked :/ phone just did its reboot and hangs on the HTC screen again but it vibrated 8 times. :/
Try extracting the Rom.zip from the RUU. Then rename it to the PB99IMG.zip put it onto your SD card (not into folders, just to the root).
When it finds PB99IMG.zip, it starts to load it (13 secs after you press the Vol- & power key)
It gives the update/install options after 2min 20seconds (for the WWE 2.29 RUU) from the initial key press of Vol- and Power key.
FASTBOOT mode
Back+Power key:
· Bootloader (For running PB99IMG.zip)->Choose with Power key (This loads the Bootloader/Hboot mode)
in fastboot now. just selected bootloader and now its loadin the img.zip. so vol up to let it do the update?
Yes. Vol up to confirm.
RADIO_V2 Fail-PU again :/tried a 3rd time with the freezer and i got a goer. i take it as i have to reboot now?
still hangs on boot on the HTC screen. :/
Make a goldcard again (sometimes it won't work):
Use these steps.
And falsh the Rom again via the PB99IMG.zip method again.
If problem persists, try with another RUU Here.
and you should check out this method as well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9154577&postcount=45
You need Android SDK installed on your PC and phone booted into Fastboot (FASTBOOT USB).

You have cm7r2 hboot which gives you only 145MB for system partition and RUU requires stock partition table (250MB for system).
Flash alpharev stock hboot via fastboot, it can be obtained here:
alpharev.nl
After that run RUU, it should work perfectly.
Plus:
Reconsider using some other RUU the one you used is history old. Try with 2.3 RUU.

I've tried that, and got the following:
C:\Users\Phil\Desktop\Android_AIO_Flasher\tools>fastboot flash boot "C:\Users\Phil\Downloads\bravo_alphaspl.img"
sending 'boot' (512 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.098s]
writing 'boot'...
C:\Users\Phil\Desktop\Android_AIO_Flasher\tools>
FAILED (remote: image error! (BootMagic check fail))
finished. total time: 0.099s
ul have to try with fastboot commands instead, here r the commands - fastboot flash hboot C:\bravo_alphaspl.img
put the bravo_alphaspl.img directly into ur C drive then run command

Dear all,
I have been looking around the forums and downloaded a few things and looked at various solutions, but I am stuck at the first hurdle.
I have been given an htc Desire Bravo that just will not boot. I do not know how it failed originally but I can only get it into the boot screens, either the fastboot/hboot logon ot the 5 buzzes and the htc logo lock. Also it takes about 30 minutes with the battery out after every failed boot attempt to restart the boot screen.
I have run adb but it cannot tell me a cid number, I have a micro sd card in it but it does not have the pb99diag.zip on it. When I put such a file on the sd card it does not find it. Communication via adb and the phone has varied success. I suspect it is drivers and what I read is an old adb bug where server is out of date.
I have never done this before this weekend so please be gentle with me!
If I can get it to work, even to use it like a wifi tablet without phone I would be happy. I am in the UK and if we have real success I would get it on tesco PAYG
I get the "cannot find pb99diag.zip etc" dialogue when going into hboot.
The logon says
BRAVO PVT-1 SHIP S-ON

MICROP-031d

Can someone suggest where to start? I have tried a number of guides on the forum but no success so far. Even just getting an os running would be success. I will be looking at this each evening so apologies if I seem slow to respond
Thanks
Adrian
First make S-Off. I forgot how but if i think right, you must it do via revolutionary, If it success, then download 4ext recovery.IMG and flash it via fastboot and reboot in bootloader in your recovery

After you s off u can flash hboot the easy way but first s off.

If u phone does not boot then u can NOT s-off, ur phone needs to be booted.. also if ur s-on and not rooted then all u can do is flash a ruu.
Did u try factory reset from bootloader menu? Try that first, u never know but chances r ul prob need to ruu a ruu.

Hi jmcclue,
Thanks for the comments. I can boot to the HBoot and Fastboot screens, thats how I could find the S-ON and version data. If I get it to reboot, I get either a white screen with just "htc" on it, or 5 buzzes and a screen with no life at all. I am hopeful to get it to S-OFF as I have had some communication through the usb to pc connection. I am not sure if I can do an RUU update as I don't seem to have a CID. I do not have a factory reset option on the HBOOT screen. I have tried clear storage but that has no effect. Perhaps I need the S-OFF first.
Cheers again,
A
Use the 2.3gb update ruu its wwe (world wide english) so dont worry bout cid. U can find it in bortaks troubleshooting guide in resources section and its naned 2.3.3 ruu. U will find it easy enough in google aswell. Search for "htc desire 2.3gb update" its a exe file so just boot ur phone into fastboot, plug in ur phone and run the ruu, hopefully it willvwork. Im a bit worried tho about the 5 vibrations u get, maybe a sign of hardware failure. But try that ruu anyway. And again u can not get s-off unless ur phone is fully working/booted.

Well that was a bit wierd
If anyone can see where I went wrong, feel free to say.
I could not seem to get the link between the phone and the pc so I removed the htc sync and restarted the pc. I could then connect to the phone in some way as abd gave a command error when I sent a fastboot oem readcid which it normally does. So leaving it in fastboot with usb I ran the wwe~.exe file and it all seemed to be doing installing. There were tens of installations going to the phone I guess each reaching 100%. Suddenly I had a web page popup in my browser s.rev2pub.com/ul_cb/player.html?a=19471543&context=c23573548&size=800x600&rt=popunder&ci=10&cb=[CACHEBUSTER] recommending I download latest drivers. The wwe ruu vanished and I have no continuing processes in Task manager that I can see.
So, should I have installed in hboot? Thankfully I can still get the phone to power on. What should happen after the exe file installs?
I am able to get some response from the phone as adb devices returns the phone device number. So I hope I can try again.
Any thoughts?
Many thanks

Hey Adrian, I had the same problem as you did, hopefully I can be of help.
First, like everyone else is saying you will need S-OFF.
To do this head to this site on your PC revolutionary.io hit download for windows or Linux or whatever your pc is running, then you will need to fill out information about your device (see attached screenshot). Device, HBoot number, and serial number, (the serial number can be found behind the battery of your device). Once you have done that, click "Generate Key". it will give you a key, remember it or write it down.
Then, open the file that was downloaded, and extract the contents to your documents and Run the revolutionary( should look like the screenshot attached). Plug your device in (assuming you have the drivers) and it should ask you to enter the beta key we had before. Enter that and hit enter. it will then S-off your Desire and soon ask if you would like to install a custom recovery. hit Y and then enter, once that is finished, unplug your device and in HBoot go to "Recovery". Now you can flash a ROM of your choice.
Hopefully I made sense!
Best of luck

Can I confirm that I can do this from the HBOOT screen or the fastboot screen? Also where jmmclue said if I can't boot then I can't S-Off, does that mean boot to the HBOOT screen or into Android? Then if I want to load say WWE, do I put that on a microSD to get it to recover?
thanks again

Thanks lilsafbig, that was a little too ambiguous to understand, but I have a few developments.
I am able to communicate to some degree with adb between phone and pc. Before I was unable to get anything back but now with the right syntax I have got back the CID as HTC_001 and the device number. But when I run revolutionary from the fastboot USB screen the revolutionary continues to wait for the device to show. Is it likely that USB degugging was off prior to the failure, is there a way to get it on. I suggest this as when I connect it to my pc it recognizes the device and shows in the device manager as an htc unspecified device (this is progress). As I cannot boot android it does not show as an additional drive in file manger. when I try some of the fastboot oem commands I get bad command errors, whilst fastboot getvars is ok. Could this be why I cannot get revolutionary to S-OFF!
Thanks
additional info, when usb is in an in fastboot usb, the device manager sees it as android 1.0

If you can still get to bootloader / fastboot screen, then you are rarely ever bricked.
1. Ignore anything and everything to do with revolutionary and fastboot for now. I'm afraid the first few posts while trying to be helpful have been misleading. Get your phone booting up into Android OS first, i.e. into a stock ROM using an RUU
2. Use the 2.3.3. GB RUU, nothing else, it doesn't need a goldcard or care about CID etc.
3. Download it from the bottom here, then use Bortak's troubleshooting guide stickied to the top of Q&A, Point [7] to run it as a PB99IMG.zip from the root of your sdcard. That way you don't need to run it through USB or care about what drivers are installed.
Thank you Eddie, I will try that. I did try flash a PB99IMG.zip before with no success but I will try again.
I found it here Official Stock Sense Gingerbread_v1.2 GB-2.3.3_A2SD – http://androidba.se/J7 for desire (neophyte)
I hope it can work out ok. I guess I format the sd card to fat32 not ext4
Will let you know how it goes.
Thanks,
A

That did not work because the file is not an RUU...it is a stock rooted custom ROM with A2SD (the clue is in the name). It is designed to flashed in recovery like any other ROM. Renaming it to PB99IMG.zip won't do anything.
Use the actual shipped roms RUU link provided.
Reformat your sdcard to a single FAT32 partition if necessary, then follow Method [7] of the guide, place only the PB99IMG.zip on the root of the sdcard (not in any folder)
