Simply long press the contact and choose "Send NAMECARD via" option and NOT the "Send Contact Information" option.

You guys were right. I was using a custom Rom apparently they took the feature of sending .vcf card via MMS and SMS of the STOCK and RED ERA EH06 LEAK v1.2 Roms. I went back to the stock EH06 rom and it has this feature I also added the EG22 Theme v5 to create a Rom which is more stable and better serves my needs. (MMS does not work, Visual Voicemail does not work, can send .vcf card via MMS or SMS, cannot update prl) Thanks for your help. Now I am going to complain to the guys who created the custom rom.

[Q] adding birthdays to contacts

I would like to add birthdays to my contacts in the contact list is there a way to do it?
I used to have an option for it on my eris but cant find it on my DINC
Thanx Rob
Are you using the People app? When I click on a contact and click Edit, there's a button to add their birthday.

Open the contact, hit menu, hit edit. There should be a birthday in there.

The people app brings up your contacts. You can also get to it through your dialer.

Could be on an AOSP ROM. I don't know if you can add birthdays there.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
There are three easy ways to do it:
1: Sync with Outlook. When you have all contacts in Outlook, edit particular contacts, select Details and you'll see a place for Birthday. Then sync again.
2: Link contacts with their Facebook page. It's amazing how many people put their birthday on that site. It will fill in the date all by itself.
3: Hit Edit on a contact and there is a big button named Birthday, click that...
Pics for 1 & 2
Again, that's great for Sense ROMs, but given that he keeps insisting it's contacts he's probably on an AOSP ROM.

cyanogen stabile 6.1 is my rom thats prob my problem
Add birthday to a Google contact on your computer. It will sync and you can have it show up in your calendar. That is assuming you have a google account.

[Q] & [REQ] stock SMS,MMS

My question is: is it possible to make the stock messaging app when you receive a new message open up a window with all the message and reply back from there like the Iphone,GOsms, WINMO. If not then can someone make it possible. Currently it just notifies you on the top bar and shows the message. Just want to know if its possible. TIA

Hold your finger over the text message and you will get the delete option. You can also do this over the whole thread to delete that thread from a person.
No when u go to add a recipient u can choose from a list of recents. But theres no way to delete that list

I can't replicate this issue, but I'm not totally stock, either. Please advise:
ROM/Kernel version? (IE: I'm using OsiMood 2.01.30, and the Cranium Kernel)
Stock Messaging App? (IE: I'm using GO SMS Pro)
Thanks

I think he's talking about when you add a recipient and it lets you choose from a list of recent recipients that you have texted.

Thanks, I'm still trying to replicate the issue, I'm not seeing it. I sent a text message to a friend, then:
New text --> Add Recipients --> Recent
Their name was first
I canceled that message, deleted the text I sent them, then:
New text --> Add Recipients --> Recent
Their name was no longer there.
I also did:
New text --> Add Recipients --> Recent --> Checked a bunch of different names, clicked "Add"
It added all the recipients. I did a long-press on each name, and a menu pops up with options for Delete and Edit, both options worked.
Can you give a step-by-step what you're doing, what results you get, and what you think is missing?
Thanks

Over Compressed MMS

Does anyone else notice when sending MMS the pics are of the worst quality? Im using FC14.
MMS pictures have always been compressed to lessen the file size.

If you want something near stock Calks E4GT 2 v1.2 which is FC18 might be to your liking. He has adjusted the MMS compression among other things. Only word of warning is the rom uses the Rogue Repack Kernel so you might have an app or two that will require a sd card dismount to install. The only one I have is Team Viewer.
If your on stock FC14 might give FC22 a spin see if they adjusted it at all.
Yes. Use handcent or another third party messaging app it does a better job at it. I touched on this subject a while back. Whenever I would send a screencap people wouldn't be able to read it bcuz the writing would be blurred. Samsung did a horrible job on the mms compressing in this phone. Never had this issue on the galaxy s epic. Handcent was a life saver for me my pictures are of higher quality now!!

Only issue with the suggested apps is that they do not allow you to select email addresses from your contacts list.
For example, if I go to create a new message, and I open my contacts list in either GoSMS or Handecent, it shows me all my contacts and their phone numbers, but it does not show their email addresses. If I wanted to send the message to their email, then I'm stuck using the default messaging app. Granted its a small price to pay in the end (its free), but optimal settings would be to completed remove using the default app and using one of those free apps instead.

If ur emailing the pic why not just use the built in email app or google email. You can share pictures that way too and there's no compression.

Selecting contacts for default Messaging app

I've been using GO SMS but I want to try out the stock Messaging app. However I notice, under the "To:" row, how do I see my entire list of contacts to choose who can I send the SMS to? I can only tap the first few characters to show the name I want to SMS?
