Dear all,
Going today to exchange my french version to an english one. But I still have one question about the artemis. Does anyone know how to get hold of all the maps, at least for europe, for the Tomtom software.
Here in Luxembourg we buy the phone with one country map included. You can somehow register on the internet to download this one. But cant I somewhere download all the maps?
Regards,
Johan

You can buy them in a shop if you want more than that one map. Downloading from the internet is either not free or... yes... illegal

If you go to link below you should be able to buy the maps, I think you will have to register to do so?

You must have the tomtom product code first (should be delivered with your artemis, if the map was already loaded).
Otherwise even if you buy maps from TT site, you will not be able to register them.

Hello Guys,
I manage to upgrade Vogue to WM6.1 + GPS.
When I run Google Maps it work fine. Show me exactly where I am.
When I run TomTom from AstroGPSLauncher, the TomTom showed me that it found 7 satellites.
But I do NOT see the road.
When I try to enter direction I get an error message related to the GPS data.
It is as if the GPS data is wrong. I think TomTom try to put me in a different part of the world and its completely confused.
Any Idea what I did wrong?
Thanks.

You forgot to tell us what version of TT and what map you are using!
It's unlikely to be a hardware or rom problem otherwise Google Maps would not work.

I'm using version 7.45 .
Today I also installed it on my friends phone (HTC Touch Sprint) and it was working OK.
So the TomTom version is OK, the Vogue work OK with GoogleMaps and MS Live.
What can be the reason that TomTom GPS is confused on my machine?
I also installed GPS Tuner and I saw the same problem:
The location jump all the time. Sometimes it put in in China...
Very strange....
Can someone think about something I did wrong???
Hello every one, thanks for the great work tou guys are doing out there..
Well i have XDA orbit2 which my brother was using in UK. i stay in india and i got this phone from him. i upgraded it to wm6.1 from xa official site. everything works fine except GPS. I had uninstalled Copilot Live 7 as they don not have maps covering India. i've tried with Googlemaps, NoniGPS, GPSlocation, visual GPSce but none of them gives a fix. ( the com port is detected and the amber led also flashes, but the device keeps searching for satellites. i tried GPStest which detects com 4 as gps port and then the screen remains at starting up GPS.
i've tried hard reset but no good. The GPS used to work fine with copilot live. Will downgrading to WM6.0 help?? If yes then how do i do it and where can i find the rom image for same??
Any help will be great;y appreciated. THANKS EVERYONE!!
HELLOOO.... is any one listening.. can any one pls help me!!
at least guide me to any similar thread...
i've searched every possible forum... no results
Sorry about this noob question, I am clueless on GPS stuff.
I've used the Arc sometimes to plot my traveling so I won't get lost when driving from source to destination, works fine and well. But it only locks and tracks my location when I have data running (3G down to GPRS). Will it ever work without using data?
Or is the data use triggered by Maps application?
Is there a way, wherein I can download the map and route when I am at home via WIFI, then use the GPS only (without data) when I am traveling already? Is another app required for this?
Thank you for ideas!
GPS works without data ! there are offline version
if you need route u need data
correct me If I'm wrong
Maps need data GPS don't

Goodle Maps caches the mapping data for a month IIRC, so you can download the maps using WiFi and then view them without hammering your data.
u can use iGO and it requires only GPS (no data).
So only iGO doesn't use data?
So does it store maps locally?
Maybe somebody knows here which is the real navigation for Android, menaning you
can just store locally all the maps and use GPS.
Maybe this
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sygic.aura&feature=search_result
Or for sure this
https://market.android.com/details?...5uYXZpZ29uLm5hdmlnYXRvcl9jaGVja291dF9ldTQwIl0.
Or you can buy navigon. Where you only download your maps once, through PC our wifi, and won't need data to navigate

I use iGO on my ARC and all the maps are stored on my SD card. Works like a charm. if you want i can provide the iGO "kit" with all the maps.
Have used copilot in the past on a Samsung Galaxy lite and it worked very well, it is pricey though

thanks for the ideas, so what's mentioned here is: iGo, navigon, and copilot.
there is a wisepilot installed here on the phone (a default bloatware) but i find the default Maps more easier to use than it.
@Claudiu1980, what country/place your iGo have?

It will be nice if you can upload the files you used. I have installed iGO and opens just fine but i have problem reading my country's map.
I would try yours to see if everything will be ok.
Maybe try papago
