Did you lose 4g before flashing a ROM or after? If the answer is after, which ROM?

one of the potential issue is the wimax keys could have been accidently erased. i have an app on the market called wimax key checker, its free and pretty quick. should let you know if your keys are in tact or not.
if your keys are in tact, one less thing to troubleshoot in the 4g connection issue process.
if the keys are gone, you'll want to restore them from a backup .. otherwise exchanging the phone might be the best alternative ...
hope that helps and let us know how it goes!

I had this problem on.my moment. I had the upper right corner just stop working completely. Your best bet is to take.it onto sprint and get another one. Its.covered under your manufacturers warranty.

man flashing roms on evo is so easy, i tried to flash a rom not so long ago while i was at a stop light the other day and it took more for the light to go back to green than the phone to flash, you'll love it
I came from the Palm Pre and I was a little nervous at first. And slightly confused by the different lingo. But to be honest, rooted and flashing your Evo is extremely easy.
I use this guide every time (I root friends phones). I kinda giggle at how easy it is, and how smart they think I am haha.

Best of luck.

I use MIUI. Its awesome. You can get it in rom manager but the new update will be out tomorrow evening. Try it out and see for yourself.

Going to root using Revolutionary but have a question about what to do afterwards.

After I root all I want to do is remove some of the Sprint installed apps. What is the best way to do this? I have searched and I am very confused, lol.
Titanium backup pro let's you freeze and uninstall apps

You can also flash a rom they don't have any sprint apps

I like the features of the stock rom except Sprints crap, lol.

Ill check this one out.
Be sure to make a nandroid backup before removing system apps, there are some apps that are needed or that will cause problems if removed.
Titanium Backup is one of my favorite apps. You need the pro version to freeze apps or backup system apps, but you can uninstall system apps with the free version - just enable Chuck Norris mode in the app's settings.
And just so you know, there are roms that are very close to stock but have some of the unnecessary apps removed and include neat extra features. You can always nandroid backup and try one out. If you don't like it just nandroid restore and everything will be as it was when you did your backup... like you never flashed anything.

I can't tell if your joking here, lol. Any suggestions for a good rom that is close to stock?

Nope, not joking :]
And I don't run Sense or keep up with the current roms, but take a look through the development section and read the first post/descriptions of any that interest you. When you find one that you like just follow the download link in the thread and put it on the root of your SD card. Make a nandroid backup and backup whatever apps and data you want to keep with Titanium Backup. If you want to save your texts use SMS Backup & Restore or a similar app. Wipe thoroughly and flash. There are guides on flashing roms, check those out if you need further instruction.
Read everything you can and be sure that you understand what you're doing before you do it... this is just advice that I give everyone. Good luck, and if you need anything else we're here to help.

The people that make miui are in China so they can't test WiMAX or lte to see if it works or not so they just leave it out
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Theyre also a closed source so no dev can try and port Wimax to it

Kind of sucks, I use 4g a lot because 3g is so overloaded here in Houston, it is so slow.

I know with my old Epic 4g and Nexus S 4g the 4g went into sleep mode when not in use, I would also disable 3g which increased the battery life, does the Evo's 4g radio not sleep?
They've got in man. Look for the supersonic. I've got it copoied on my SD card. Hold on and ill get ya a link.

Cannot root, what am I doing wrong?

Ok, here's the deal. Let me start off by saying that I am no idiot, I have been a tech for 15 years and this is the first phone that I've had a problem with.
I have an incredible that I want to root then flash to metroPCS. I first tried unrevoked and it said that my firmware was too new. So I figured I would try to downgrade my bootloader after googling the error. I tried literally every set of directions that I could find.
If anyone could help me I would appreciate it.

I can only help you root your phone, I don't know anything about flashing to another carrier. What is your phone setup android version, etc?
If you are on Gingerbread (2.3.4) then you can follow this thread by Scotty1223. It is the only way to root Gingerbread that I know of for the Incredible.

Read First
No offense, but 15 years does not mean you know everything.
I explained that I routed three phones, and unrevoked said the same thing at first.
You have to read the entire document and then do all the steps that are like 5, then run the unrevoked that is the last.
The document is attached in Word.
