Since moving to Gingerbread I have had a consistent issue with my proximity sensor when placing and receiving calls.
When I answer/press send the screen immediately goes black. The only way to turn the screen back on is to press the power button to unlock the screen. The only way to turn off the screen is to lock the screen again.
This occurs with auto brightness on or off. With auto brightness on I can see the screen changing brightness levels.
Easy fix: go back to froyo
Actual fix: unknown?
does anyone know of a fix or have a similar issue?

Apologies if this has been addressed before, but I searched and couldn't find something exactly like this...
Randomly one of 3 screen issues seems to be occuring on a daily basis:
1) Auto-Rotate stops working. Cannot get screen to rotate without reset (Yes, I've made sure auto-rotate is on in settings)
2) Screen will not Auto-Off. Even if I change settings to 15 secs, screen will not turn itself off. I have to manually turn it off. And, if I receive a text or any kind of notification it will light up again and stay on indefinitely.
3) Screen will not turn back on when trying to wake up device. Hitting the home button and power button both have no effect. Although the LED is usually blinking, and it seems the phone is still on.
For all 3 of the above issues, manually pulling out the battery and reseting the phone that way seems to always work. But, this is an annoying process to have to go through on a daily basis.
Also, I've noticed that these 3 symptoms don't occur simultaneously. For example, yesterday it wouldn't auto-off, but rotation would still work.
Not running any custom ROMs either
During the day, here is no need for the screen to be lit. But looks like it turns backlight on when turn on...
Tried to use minimum light instead of automatic, but still turns on the backlight :\
Any ideas?
Bump, was about to ask the same question.
In Android 5.0.1 you can turn off the backlight on motions.
Can not turn it off when you receive notifications but me I see no huge issue.
There is a app .... think somebody posted it in Android Wear forum that gives you more control if you want it darker.

To lock your screen press the side button 3 times consecutively. Your screen will stay on without the backlight (monochrome look) but won't turn on when u look at or touch the screen. You can activate the screen with 1 click. Or unlock it again with 3 clicks. Handy for saving battery life I just found it by messing about and was looking everywhere on forums.
My screen and backlight turn off one after the other after locking the screen or when the screen dims off itself. The screen is the first to go off and then the backlight follows, this can only be seen in a dimly lit room or place. Anyone having similar issues is there a fix to syncing the two?
Good day
Had a problem, searched but nothing found. Nexus 7 car instal. When dimming the screen to auto brightness on zero (or tasker setting 0 brightness) screen is properly dimmed, perfect for night driving. But after locking the screen and then unlocking the screen backlight doesn't turn on. I can still operate touchscreen (hear music, taps etc) but nothing on the screen. Resetting by holding the power button brings it back, with brightness set to zero and backlight on.
Any solutions?
My LG G5 recently stopped automatically turning the screen off despite the time settings. I first noticed the phone would warm up in my pocket, so I investigated further. Even though I attempted to work-around the issue by disabling lockscreen notifications, the screen will turn itself on whenever I get a notification then never turns off (doesn't even dim itself). First of all, I do not want my screen turning on for notifications, but additionally, I want the screen to timeout on its own. Any suggestions?
