And whats latest android version / updates for htc desire cmda Us cellular model.

Thanks for any help / links.

Do some more search and you questions will be answered.

As a quick overview: Each Android Version has its own name. Froyo, Gingerbread etc.The newest one for the Desire is GB.
Furthermore you might stick to a Sense-ROM as it is easy to use and similar to what you have with a lot of features/tweaks added. Personally, i really like and support the LeeDroid ROM's.

or this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038195 (which i use)
Battery life is greatly depending on various factors such as your ROM, Kernel, Radio etc.
Personally, I experienced huge savings with an app called Juice Defender and SetCPU. Te first one gives you lots of possibilities when to sue Wifi, data etc. and the second one governs your CPU based on profiles you set i.e. when screen is off, when battery is <20% etc.
Check this out, read and search in this forum, listen and learn and you'll be fine

Best custom rom for battery management

I was wondering which rom out of the many available - is best in terms of battery life?? I didn't really want to start a whole new thread .. but i am looking for those here who have flashed most of the custom desire roms on XDA, I need a rom that manages battery better then most.

I'm pretty sure that you are going to have lots of answers. Unfortunately, each one, talking about one rom or the other will tell you that its rom is better that others.
I'm running a ROM developped by a single developper (Itanium 1.8 today) and the battery life is pretty good. Undervolt mod is included, several optimizations have been made for battery usage, but again, I'm pretty sure Cyanogen and OpenDesire (these are examples, not the only ROMs working fine I guess) are good at saving baterry life...
So I would say it's hard to tell, and the best advice would be for you to test several of these and find the one which best suits your needs... You might end with a ROM which might give you less battery life, but which would looks better for you and for your usage (Sense based, without Sense...).
Hope this makes sense.

thanks for the info bro I hope others will also post a comment. Although, as you said - opinions will dither, it will still be good to get an overall opinion from many XDA desire users.

questions... newbie help

I recently ventured into flashing my evo and it was quite easy to root, and return to stock. thank you guys for all of the information posted or else i wouldnt have been able to do it..
My questions are about roms.. Which Rom is the best to use for performance and battery conservation..
So far I love HTC sense, but i'd like more battery and less lag out of it.
Rom's I have tried are:
Cynagen 6
Fresh 3.5
and another i can't remember the name but it was based off of android 2.1
All of these roms ATE my battery.. within an hour-hour and a half I was down to nothing, and It sat in my pocket the whole time, after running quadrant.
I did however notice, my phone would never go to sleep on either rom, not sure if i messed up with rooting it or not.
Any suggestions on what rom to use? I don't want to wait two years for the new sense ui and am curious about gingerbread.
The rom im looking into as of now is CM7-EX.v9, Mixed replies for problems/no problems in that thread though.
As i have said I am new to this, new to linux, etc.. any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. thank you and thanks or all of the great things on this forum.
Personally I'm using a customized version of MikFroyo 4.4. I'd have to say what he's done to speed up the system is amazing. A lot of tedious work. I turn it into a "senseless" version and remove an ishload of other apps and use ADW Launcher EX. All in all, it's the best ROM I've used. Battery life is pretty decent as well.
If you like sense then try myn's rls 5
As for roms, what do you need to have and what can you do without? AOSP roms still don't have full functionality but do have really sweet custom things added in that could make up for it.
As for speed, I have compared CM6.1 to the Sense rom I am using now and the Sense one is faster/smoother. It has Mikfroyo 4.4 as the base but is even faster than that one. Battery life is OK.
However, if you are not even getting 2hrs out of your battery then something is wrong. You need to investigate or change some settings because no matter what combo you are using should get at least half a day out of it.
1) Make sure you wipe everything before you flash (I'd recommend Calkulin's format all zip)
2) Let ROMs and their respective kernels "settle into your phone." This usually takes 2-3 days.
3) Pick ROMs that don't emphasize speed/power (CM) as much and more on user experience (Myn's)
4) Check my sig if none of these help (however they should )
You may also want to check and see if you are on the newest pri 1.90 if so you can try flashing back to pri1.77 this has helped some people with the 100% wake issue. Then I would suggest another kernel possibly. Good luck.
Oh and +1 for mikfroyo!
mikfroyo seems to be the way to go... someone told me that the battery life would be junk for a few days but i wasn't sure.. i was more worried about the awake time and the up time being the same, meaning something was keeping my battery on.
I like the sense, in fact i'd love to try the new sense for the htc desire on it to see how it is.. looks amazing.
bloatware and what not i can do without
i dont have 4g in my area
i'd like to have both cameras working(i use them alot with my daughter)
mostly its a weather/texting machine.. sound like i got the wrong phone lol.. but i love the advantages of it.

[Q] New to the Dinc. Need Advice?

I'm an og droid user but just picked up a Dinc for my fiance. She loves the thing but hates the 10 hour (9 hours of that is idle?) battery life.
Last night, I went ahead and rooted it and removed most of the verizon crap-ware and then adjusted her sync settings to hopefully improve her battery life. I also did a battery stat reset.
She loves it as-is so flashing roms is out of the question. I don't have time/she doesn't have the patience for me to flash roms and fix problems that arise. With that being said I would like to explore the other back-end options.
Now, keeping in mind, this dinc is completely stock. Stock sense, stock kernel, stock radio, etc. I've been advised to replace the stock radio with one from Doug Piston. I was told to install the 04.08 version for the EVO. I just want to clarify that this will work for the Dinc running stock froyo sense? Also, if someone could tell me exactly what this does? Is the main benefit better battery life? Or something else? Also, if this is not the correct radio I should install, which is?
My second question is in regard to a better kernel. As stated above, I am stock and will remain on stock sense. What are some good proven kernels that will work on stock sense. Performance on the device is fine, so I'm not worried about that. I'm only looking for a kernel that will boost battery life. I looked around here but I couldn't determine which of these, if any would work on a stock Dinc or if they were just for custom roms?
Anyway, that's all. Thanks in advance for any help on this!
Here is a link to all the different kernels that are available for the Inc. It will say if it works with AOSP or Sense. Just take a look through them and see which one would work the best for what you want. Some will overclock, some will underclock, etc
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=866736
Whoops didn't notice you had that link already. Some popular ones are incredikernel and heyitslou. I know with incredikernel I was getting good battery life but also was with different ROM not sense.
I have installed a radio on my Inc, been quite fine for the last few weeks as well. From my understanding, the radio may or may not improve gps lock and/or your phone's signal strength depending. This is hit or miss, not everyone notices a stark improvement in both or either category. As such, if you already have poor signal in your area it may not improve your signal therefore it has no effect on battery life.
Someone more knowledgeable in that area please correct me.
You can try whichever radio you desire, I recall many people using 4/08 or the 11/19. Personal preferences aside, your improved battery life depends on how much signal your phone reports that it is receiving.
I have used the heyitslou kernels and have loved the battery life I got with it. I have also upgraded my battery to the 3500mA battery. This did wonders
incredikernel w/ smartass + CM7 and never look back...i know you like the ROM but i think stock sense is what drains the battery the most.
I've had good luck with Lou's kernel running a sense rom.
may want to try Virtuous v3.2.0 its a good stock rom with some clean-up done.

[Q] Can New Radio Improve Battery Performance in Rooted Desire phone??

Weheyyy! Hello to all you lovely helpers
I am very happily rooted, s-off partitioned etc etc and have lovely new Insertcoin ROM!!........but........have another question, I hope someone would be kind enough to answer please, which is:-
My phones battery seems to have become quite poor (was poorish anyway) but now a little worse and am thinking its because of all the lovely Insertoin bits on it. I am wondering, my battery version is 5.11.05.27, and thought if I updated it to the most recent version would there be an improvement??? Also, occasionally experiencing a few dropped calls.....
Any info at all very appreciated.
P.S. If I have incorrectly started a new thread, sorry but I did search and nothing else came up!!!
In my experience, no. Moving to a ROM like LeeDroid can make a massive difference. I personally love AcesMod for the full 'Sense HD' experience but the battery was bad and there were some FC's that I sufferred. Leedroid 3.3.3 doesn't give the full 'HD' experience but it's reliable and has exceptional battery life.

I have discarted your disclaimer and substituted it with my own: BravoS ROCKS, dudes!
Stable signal - means better battery life.
It can't hurt to change your radio to the most recent one to see if this will help out your battery life. I'm sure you already have but also look at your sync frequencies on things like email and weather as they can eat into your battery.
From what I've read, the sense based rom's will always eat a lot battery because there's so many processes going on in them all the time. For best battery life switch to an aosp rom.
If you want to flash the newest radio look here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687464&highlight=radio
to get the newest one (5.17.05.23).
Then go here and get this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794638&highlight=radio
which is a flash utility to use on your pc/laptop. Seems a lot of people use it to flash stuff onto their Desire (useful for flashing a new splash screen as well). I used it to flash my radio and all went smoothly.
If you need any more help just ask

[Q] Which ROM is the best for me?

Hi,
I would like to install a custom ROM (+ root my phone). Now I'm using the stock Jelly Bean but I think that it drains a lot of battery (one charge lasts in about 10 hours and I just stream music via TuneIn + 20 mins Ingress and I think that isnt too much and phone should endure more).
I'm searching for a good ROM with great stability a performance. The main requirement is the battery life. Also the shoud run on a JB (4.1 or 4.2). I found CM 10.1 but is it convenient enough for me?
Thanks for your advices
I think is OrDroid
However, moderators don't like this gener of thread...
Ordroid is apparantly THE best for Battery Life.
Also give Blade ROM a go, VERY LIGHT ROM therefor easy on battery.
Those 2 are brilliant for battery, ViperX not so good for battery, but great for customisation.
PS - This thread will be closed, this isn't a question that can necessarily be answered, its personal preference based on the way YOU use YOUR phone.
Oh, I am sorry about that but I don't know where should I ask.
You are recommending me a Sense ROMs but what if I want original Android? Is there any which meets with my requirements?
Moderator update,
This thread is closed. These type of questions are hard to answer as a rom will work differently for each person using it. Best thing to do is to try different ones for your self
