Well i have pretty sensitive eyes and using my galaxy at night hurts my eyes. Today i came across screen fader. Now Im using it at around 20% which is good. The colors are really faded but i dont mind much. Anyways my question is that will this damage my cell phones screen cause everything is pretty faded. Thanks

The screen doesn't take any damage at all from dimming. Super amoled screens have a more limited lifetime than lcds beacause they are made from organic materials. Dimming your screen further than the standard screen settings lets you go is actually a great way to preserving your screen.
No worries.

OLED on the S2 is awesome but the because its "+" the blue materials decay almost 5x faster, meaning color balance issues and burn-in. But wut about a pure black theme with yellow instead of white for letters(or just green, but only 1 sub pixel is twice as grainy as 2)and red for dividing lines? May not sound pretty, but I would appreciate it for my galaxy s, and used S2 owners would appreciate it the most by improving the screen longevity on one of the sexiest phones released.

+1 to your request.. I was using a sense 4.0 inspired theme, very bright colors.. The other day I just checked the phone in Test Mode, to my horror the status bar had burnt in.!!
I checked my warranty, had 27 days remaining so got the display unit replaced.. I dont want this one to go bad in 11 months..
Hence, I request too..!!!

Even tho i agree with your request and +1 for it, you should try screen adjuster from the market.
Ofc it doesn't save your screen colours but definately makes it look as it should with the right settings.

Hello,
Every time I'm in a pretty dark spot, and there something really dark (not pure black) on the screen and the screen is on I get these really weird dark spots on my screen. Is there something wrong with my screen?
I am also running Task's AOKP if its important.

Don't be alarmed this is a known issue with S. Amoled screens on S3. You're not the only one. It isn't really a huge deal, Please use the search button before you post next time, many people have posted about it.
A huge defect Samsung says is not a defect... Lol

I don't know much about differences in screen besides what DPI and resolution is, but yesterday I was looking at some pictures and icons on my S3 and iPod 4gen and I noticed that the iPod screen was much much brighter than the S3. And because of that I was able to distinguish gradients and textures better.
So my question is, is the screen on the S3 dimmer than on purpose or is my screen defective.
-- just in case anyone was wondering I had both devices on full brightness.
--something I noticed was that if I put the iPod at half brightness, then that would be about as bright as my S3 on FULL brightness.

Did you try turning the brightness on your s3 up?
Edit: oops I see that you did. I dunno take it to a store and compare your screen to another s3.

Yes. The screen is dimmer. Samsung cut the maximum display power to 1.3 watts allowing for a longer battery life because of how big the screen is. Also has to do with the candelas per sq inch on a screen.

Ah I see. Is there a way to maybe to make the screen brighter some how by increasing the voltage or something.

You are comparing apples to oranges. The S3 uses samoled+, which presents blacks much deeper and whites so so. This makes for brighter whites and not so deep whites on the crapples devices giving the illusion of brighter screens. Just like comparing a plasma to an LCD. Yes there is an app to make the screen brighter, and you must be rooted. Just install the app and run it, must be clicked once per boot to work as it runs a command in the interactive shell.
Thread cleaned a bit.
Always fond of this saying: "Work the problem, not each other."
Has anybody else used that apk? Does it work? I don't want to mess up my brightness levels using it. I should be able to reboot and go back to normal but still cautious about trying it.

I just installed it and ran it. I granted it permission but I don't see any difference.
Thanks for the info on the screen by the way

You have to have autobrightness disabled and turn the brightness all the way down before running it. I am using it and the results are blinding !

Lol why do you need it brighter? It blinds me on full brightness. I always keep my half way and it's perfect.

I still can't get it to work. I turn off automatic brightness, then lower it all down and run the app, then increase the brightness back up and still the same.

I must say its been a great run, but I finally decided to get a nexus 4. My old one is taking a turn for the worst.
I give my many thanks to my awesome developers to this phone. You made it shine.

Thanks for the advice but that's not my problem. My problem is I think my screen may be going out. Every so often it will have a weird blue/off colored fragmentation on the screen. Its similar to the old upside down 10.1 issue but its not that. Its kinda hard to explain.

screen also going out on my t989. got an off color band on the top of my screen, and the rest of the screen is dimmer than it was new. these ARE organic led displays... still somewhat new tech.

These are amoled displays and with amoled displays after say 3 years of use you get something called "burn in" which make the blue LED lights get dim and dimmer over time which causes the screen to have an off look. You cau can prevent this by keeping your phone on low brightness and changing the screen style to "movie" which reduces the saturation of the colors. Even high end devices like the Note 2 will be eventually affected by this

Didn't know that, I'm moving on to the s4 so I'll be wary of this issue.
I love wallpapers but I wanna know what the best color to have is if you go outside a lot. I know on AMOLEDs that black saves battery, but with a strong sun you can't see much on a dark wallpaper and turning up the brightness might offset battery gain. Yet white is both very difficult to see in the sun AND takes up more battery. What is the best wallpaper color to have for the sunlight?
i'd like to know. My Droid Ultra red cube wallpaper is getting old.
I don't know? Blue? Lol I think you should experiment with that. There is no definite answer to this question.

I don't claim to know anything, but in my experience I've found white w high brightness is best for sunlight but bad on battery and black at night w low brightness is best overall on battery. Hope it helps some.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking, but black makes it impossible to read in direct sunlight. White is the easiest, but it drains the most battery. That's why there can't be a straight answer (in my opinion).
