yup, it's definitely possible, especially if you're charging it from a USB port. If it gets way too low it can think the batteries gone bad and won't even try to charge it anymore.

Little info please...
Rooted? Stock? Rom your running? Kernel? going by what you said (70% to 1% on reboot) Seems your more the likely rooted (My OG Epic had this issue too, pull battery upon next reboot, everything shows normal again, Or let it sit and watch battery % slowly increase again to where it was) It'll give us a better idea what is going on. Thanks!

[Q] Unusual battery problem

Hi, I have just bought an unrooted Wildfire to root and play about with.
However the phone has a weird battery problem
The battery never fully charges - the battery icon only shows amber and quickly goes to red and says only 1-2% left, BUT, the battery is fully charged and the phone will run all day long without problems.
Question - It looks like whatever measures the battery has got it wrong somehow - can this be reset?
Any other advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Go into recovery, wipe cache/dalvic cache and battery stat.
It should fix this bug.If not, flash custom rom, like buzz-fire or reincarnation v3.0.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda premium
Thanks for this info!
The Wildfire I have is not rooted and had android 2.2.1, Hboot 1.01.0002, with s-on.
I have looked at various threads and getting it into recovery will be a challenge!
Are there any threads/procedures you would recommend?
Unfortunately there's no real solution for this issue. Various people faced this issue.
I face this too, but I have a silly workaround for this. Charge the phone, when you feel it's completely charged, just turn it off, now connect it to charger while it's off. now turn the phone on with charger being connected, it should show full battery. Hope this helps.

S4 Mini on CM 13 ROM won't even show logo

Hey everyone
My i9190 (Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini 3G) no longer starts up - and by that, I mean it doesn't even vibrate and show the Samsung logo when I hold down the power button. I'd flashed the CM 13 nightly only a day before this happened. I'd left it on at home when I went out, and when I came back I found it was off, and it doesn't respond to any key combination I try to make it work. My recovery is TWRP, I'd flashed a custom kernel a month back but replaced it with the CM kernel again when I found the custom one didn't offer anything new.
I'm thinking about sending it to Samsung for repairs, but I don't know if they'll fix it because it had been rooted ever since I found out about CM 12.1 in May 2015 from here. Can anyone offer some advice regarding how to fix it? Thanks in advance!
I don't want to offend you but just to be sure... does the phone have the battery charged?

Lol I'm not offended
I'm pretty sure it was... but anyway turns out the internal motherboard's battery may have died or something, because when I left it on the charger overnight, it showed the charging battery frame while switched off! Earlier even plugging it in didn't seem to start it up, but now when I held the power button, it started working normally!
Thanks for your concern anyway!

I sometimes have the same problem, but it's just a matter of charging. If you don't see anything when it's charging, don't worry. The battery is just completely flat. Just to let you know.

Unusual Battery Behaviour

Hey everyone,
I just got this device a couple of days back and I encountered a big problem. The battery percentage is showing incorrect info. Doesn't show discharge.
I charged it for one full night and it was just 95%. I restarted the phone and the percentage was at 29!
So I started searching for solutions keeping the phone disconnected. After a couple of minutes, the percentage climbed to 60. I was totally confused.
I thought it was a stock ROM bug and immediately unlocked the BL and flashed a custom ROM. Still the problem persist. I tried a battery discharging app to try and discharge it completely and try again. But the percentage won't go down!
Last time I checked keeping the discharging app on the battery percentage was at 37 and didn't go down. So I rebooted it. It came down to 2! Left for a couple of minutes and it starts to climb again!
I have searched for this issue. If someone faced similar issues do share your solution.
Thank you and sorry for the long post.

Looks like, you've recieved a faulty battery buddy. There is no history of such STOCK ROM/CUSTOM ROM bugs.
