i've created partitions using minitool partition as follows
FAT32-6.6gig , EXT-4 1gig , LINUX SWAP 39mb
when i've installed s2e(simple2ext) it didnt show ext partition so did freespace app ,so i've formatted sd-ext via clockwork mod ,now when ive connected my sd-card to pc i am seeing ext2 instead of ext4 & my linux swap is not being used by cyanogen mod nightly
type in terminal su(enter)
free (enter)
swap is being all shown zero's
how to solve these problems , & does cm7 support ext4,what is the correct partition method to get 1gig ext4
Try to change kernel. Default one doesnt support ext4

Hi all, I just used CW Recovery to make a 1gb extra partition but don't know which version ext it made. Can someone provide me with some code to write in my terminal to line up my sd-card partition. Thanks.

Afaik cwm makes ext2 by default, check with 'mount' from terminal, look for sd-ext and if will say ext2/3/4 next to it.
Thanks man.
It seems that the cvm provided in the [Nightly]CM7 thread made ext4 filesystem, atleast that's what I have but it could be the data2ext mod I flashed that converted the ext2 to ext4, I don't know.
More chance that the data2ext mod formated your partition with ext4
Hey guys i have a question that no1 did answer in any Sense HD rom tread i posted, namely it's to do with the partitioning of the Sdcard for D2ext Roms'.Almost all dev's say that u need to partition it accordingly to fat32 (w/e GB) + ~1gb Ext4 + 0.1 GB Ext4 + 0.1Gb Swap... or similar.
now my question is...do i really need a Swap partition? and how to get the 2 ext4 partitions, cuz i do my formating via MiniTool Partition Wizard ,and it doesnt have an ext4 support...?
WEll there's a reason why i mentioned MiniTool and not Gparted...i can only use the lather ,that's why i asked. But ok.
how to Wiped ext2, 3 o 4 partition (for APP2SD), recommended 1024MB (1GB)?
not sure what you mean .....
If you want to create a partition the ROM Manager allows this (but i think its a limited size).
Alternatively I used Partition Wizard on Windows 7 but the Linux guys use GParted.
You can just boot into recovery and format the SD for a2sd. Think its in advanced. Create no swap. It will create ext3 so you will need to upgrade

Hello.. one little problem
Why when I installed miui rom, he not find a ext4 partiton. Aurora, CoolSensetion and with other ROM-s I don't have this problem.. any solutions?
Did you partition your SD card to have ext 4 partition correctly? Eg the right amount of memory needed on the ext4 partition for the ROM to work.
Yes, I partitoned with partition manager and everithing is ok.. I have 1300 MB of ext4..
Is to much?
happened to me once in the past
in the terminal emulator write a2sd reinstall
ok tnx, I will try
I have been reading up on the differences between ext2 and ext4. Apparently ext2 is faster and causes lesser wear on the SD card. Can I use an ext2 SD partition instead of ext4 without issues on CM 7.2?
Or is it really better to format ext4 on SD since CM uses it on internal memory?

hey fish,
if you want to use cyanogenmod 7 ( 7.1 / 7.2 ) u'll have to format your second partition to ext 4 format, another formats are not accepted.
Strange.
I've used an ext2 partition on CM 7.1 and currently using ext3 on CM7.2 dt app2sd is enabled and works...
Don't know about the speed and the wear (wear????) on the SD. Speed seems fine, I find apss load a bit faster from SD than phone memory. But then i have a class 10 card.
Hmm, I thought one of the reasons ext4 was developed was to make it faster than ext3, and ext3 is faster than ext2...
im using CM7.2 and my sdcard partition was ext2, and it doesnt matter
i can install darktremor, and anything,,
anybody experienced read/only 2nd ext4 partition?
