Hi guys.
I did try searching but didn't find anything about this.
I miss having separate wallpapers for portrait and landscape like I had on my TP2.
Is it possible to do this on a G1, with 1.6, and no root?
(Please don't start the "why don't you root" stuff, at this point in time I will not get any benefit from it, I don't feel like changing all my settings again, and there seems to be no definite guide for UK DRC92.)
android has no built in feature that allows you to do this but there may be a home replacement app that will do this, not sure though

I was kind of hoping there was an app that'd allow this with the stock home, every home replacement I've tried has either been laggy, FC's a lot, or is just useless in general.
I am not aware of any such feature. It's not doable in the stock home screen or any home replacement I'm aware of.

Dual Wallpaper allows the user to select two different wallpapers to be set when the phone is either in Landscape or Portrait mode.
When the orientation changes, the application will automatically change the wallpaper.
For 2.x phones only
Does NOT require root.
Latest version: 1.0.0 (for Android version 2.0 and higher)

My apologies to those who were waiting for me to post a super-clean build. I've been doing absolutely nothing with the Continuum for the last 2+ weeks.
I've finally come across the solution to one of the fixes I've been really wanting for this phone, and one of the primary reasons that come September 20th, I'm ordering a new phone with my wife's free new-every-2.
I want to see USB debugging enabled by default, without timing out. To do so, the default.prop file needs to be edited, which is located in the boot image. I've taken a look at posts like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=443994, but I don't know where to start. If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be a great addition to custom roms.

maybe compatibility with CM builds.. gingerbread support maybe or some porting of already completed fascinate builds.
Is it feasible/conceivable to build a kernel with BLN mod in it?
That's about the only thing I miss from the Fascinate world.

we have tried before on eclair to get it working, but with no success... The fact that our soft keys are built into the screen makes it probably impossible...... Sorry for the bad news :l

Yeah, that makes sense. I hadn't thought about the soft keys being part of one display. Oh well, that makes the 5th or 6th app I've purchased that I'll never use again.

I want to have adb enabled by default, and have the persist flag enabled as well. I get so damn annoyed when usb debugging disables itself. I want to usb tether my phone for internet access when I'm traveling, but the phones default settings make this impossible
EDIT: I just realized that Josh's EC07 ROM includes the necessary edits to the defaults.prop file. From what I had read elsewhere, the file was located in a boot image that required extraction and editing, and repacking. So as far as this thread is concerned, my problem is solved, or at least it appears to be.
EDIT: Damn I hate Samsung! Just another 10 days and I can order my DInc2 for free from Wirefly. I just tested whether or not USB debugging would auto-disable after a few minutes. Sure enough, after being tethered for about 5 minutes with EasyTether, USB debugging turns off. Problem NOT solved.

The Andromadus Team is working on Jb from source, best posible way to expirience jellybean as it should be, follow there progress/releases here

Here it is guys jb for our beloved g2, this rom is based on the gnex jellybean leak that we saw couple days ago, right now rom is as useless as the word could posibly describe it, the rom boots just fine, but it seems the launcher does not like being render in software mode so it crashes non stop, i tried other launcher they dotn seem to work ether, im just posting this so maybe someone else can help me, to ether get launcher working in software mode or getting egl acceleration working, for this will we mostlikely need a 3.0 kernel.
Again bare in mind this is pretty much useless, and its not much fun to use, untill we solv the launcher issue, dont expect this to be a daily driver any time soon
Working:
Touchscreen forgot to mention this
It renders and reaches lockscreen thats about it, im sure i can fix more, but theres no point if we cant get the launcher working.
Not working
mostly evrything

read description i did, it does not work, im guessing its jb was not meant to be used in software mode, thats why the launcher crashes.
I want to say that aside from the fact that it's on the DZ (which is a phone I own and use), the best thing about this thread are the advertisements on the bottom of the uploadhouse.com website.

The thread proves that, unlike what a lot of people who knows little to nothing about programming say, JB can be ported to the G2 and it can boot.
First thing first. Stuffs come later.
@siulmagic: awesome at least it boots!
@siulmagic dont sell yourself short! It takes a lot to get something like this to boot! I am sure after a while someone will get something else to work. Like taz , he is a great porter!
lol i did not see those ads on the website, will upload somewere else, my bad haha.
I knew it was only a matter of time, n they said this wasn't possible? Sure there's issues and bugs but its still in the alpha stage.

I said "ASIDE FROM THE FACT". you misinterpreted.
I would have thought JB would have taken another year for anything to be on Desire Z.
I'm just learning these past 3 years and by no means unfamiliar with personal ports from other devices but took a look at doing something similar for my device for personal use and was humbled very quickly. It's the accomplishing of seemingly impossible tasks large well funded corporations don't bother tackling by one user who solves it on their free time that make me truly love open technology. Kudos. Keep it Up. Many Thanks!

i can very easily get ril working but there's really no point, if theres no working launcher =P.
Well as the title say I need some testers. I'm developing an app which one for now works with, Galaxy Nexus Maguro, but I need some Toro and Toroplus testers. (Since my nexus is maguro and I can't try it) also if any of you have a SGS3 I will appreciate if you test it as well since it suppose to work with the SGS3.
What you need
Samsung Galaxy Nexus rooted and/or Samsung Galaxy S3 rooted.
What you need to do
Simple, just start the app (App Test) you will see a text that says: ----Notifications---- and under that text other text that says TEST Notification.
1. You need to see a toggle button at the right of the second text.
2. When you turn on the toggle you have to see a notification that says: Notification ONLINE
3. When you turn off the toggle the notification should be clear.
What if I don't see something about the 3 points above?
Post what you see, and tell me what the Toast message says. I will see and try to fix it.
PLEASE POST IF IT WORKS AND IF IT DOESN'Tâ
App is attached.
Thanks

Well this one does nothing, just to know if it works. If you download it you will see that it does nothing. I don't think I need it since it just to know if a code works.
But this is one part of a app that I'm developing, which one have so far a few of root tools, but it will include a lot of root tools.
Dont think this thread should be in this development section....needs to be moved to some other section.

So basically, you are searching for people to test an app which needs root, access the internet but supposedly does nothing?
Don't count on me to fall in that kind of trap.

EDIT: actually where do you get that from? I'm seeing my manifest now and it doesn't have that permission??

What is this app intended to do? I don't feel safe giving an app root access without knowing exactly what your intentions behind the app are.

wow is amazing how people trust so little in other person... the root access is to read if a file exist... then returns access to the toggle button to see the toast. So if the user don't know the phone info it can give it to me easy so I know in what device it works...

As a developer you should already know that giving root access to an app, of which its purposes are unknown, can be dangerous. The paranoia normal users (like me) have is not unfounded. That being said, I'm not trying to accuse you of anything at all. It's just that slightly more clarification would be appreciated before you ask for someone to install apps that request for root rights.
// edit: Oh, and I'll be available if you need more maguro devices for testing.
OP you do realize that you've posted this in the wrong section.. do you?
There is a whole seperate section for apps/games in xda.
Best Regards.

ok , its 4.2 stock android. it cant auto rotate my apps menu anymore as well as the clock in the lockscreen , however if i open an app or browser , i am able to rotate it , i wasnot doing anything fishy , just downloaded some apps from google play , normal apps, and never rooted or tried anything on it. it was working fine from last week when i got it.. please tell me about any other thing you may need to know
also tried checking/unchecking the autorotate option , rebooted several times.
I'm bone stock, and neither my app drawer, nor lock screen have ever had rotation, to my knowledge
Cmoore0965 said:
I've never known the app drawer (which I assume you're talking about) to have a landscape mode. In fairness, I never really cared or looked for it, so that could be my own oversight. The clock app, does, however rotate, so I guess you've got an issue. If you flashed, reflash with a clean install. If you're ota, then you're options branch out depending on if you're rooted, and/or your access to custom recovery. Anyone here is going to need more information, though, to help you. Might start with your current firmware, and method of installing it.

could you please tell me th best method to root and unlock, as their are so many methods, and then wha are the next possibilities.
Best method to root is a mildly interesting debate around here lol depends on your comfort level with simple adb commands, and a little footwork to find the drivers to do it manually, or your comfort in little understanding of one stop shop toolkits. The toolkits are pretty reliable, and the only discouragement I've heard against them is the fact that you don't have to learn what going on to achieve your goal. The manual method isn't difficult either, you'll have to set up the proper drivers, and sdk on your computer, and use an extremely simple series of commands utilizing fast boot. Either path to root can be found in the stickies around here, and I've only given a very fast a loose overview of the processes lol but keep an open mind, follow the instructions to the letter, and they're both easily attainable
As for further possibilities passed unlock and root, there's always the hunt for your favorite rom, there's extremely useful scripts you can run to modify particular necessities for your experience or shortcomings you may find, there's even guides on compiling your own stuff if you're particularly taken by this wide world of amazing android user control lol you can do whatever you want, buddy. If you've got the time, the selfless dev, mod, and member community here has almost certainly posted how to get it done
