Can't flash my rom! - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I've made my own ROM (Sense 2.2.1 stock with a few modifications). but when I flash it cwm says
Code:
E:Can't symlink system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip
failure at line 66 symlink /data/local/bootanimation.zip SYSTEM:customize/resource/bootanimation.zip
Installation aborted
I have put new bootanimtion.zip in both of those locations!
Please help!

Try to delete your modified bootanimation, you van always flash it later separately

[Q] need help flashing ROM

I have a new evo updated. Rooted with unrevoked and running sprint lovers (PC3IMG) I installed clockworkmod and tried to flash a rom and had problems. I thought that clockworkmod was my problem so I flashed back to my RU recovery. I then went into recovery and wiped data, dalvick, and cache. I then chose install zip from sdcard and then I selected the new Fresh ROM zip. I tried to install it and it goes all the way to Writing boot.img and I get an error that says
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img","boot")
E:error in /sdcard/fresh-evo-3.5.0.1.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted.
So then I tried to install Myn’s Warm TwoPointTwo and I get to copying files and I get this error:
E:Can't symlink /system/xbin/[
E:Failure at line 15:
symlink busybox SYSTEM:xbin/[
Installation aborted
I am stumped and dont know what to try next. Anyone know whats going on with these errors?
Just tried to install pc36img from sdcard and I get this after it says installing update:
E:Can't find update script
Installation aborted.
I think that this will only work if I flash it at Hboot and select yes for the update? Either way, I would rather have Fresh as my ROM because I used it on my Hero and I loved it. Any help?
After reading other posts, many say it has to do with the HBOOT size not having enough space??? Its not seeing the boot.img correctly. I have no idea. Anyone have any ideas?

[PROBLEM] I can't install new roms on Desire and can't wipe....ClockWork can't mount.

Hi everyone!
After 2 months i decided to root my Desire and install custom ROM.
I have rooted phone using Unrewoked application version 3.32. Everything was done, it has rebooted several times and Desire was rooted.
Now when i enter ClockWorkMod Recovery it shows:
ClockWorkMod Recovery v2.5.0.7
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E:Can't find MISC:
When i try to install Oxygen 2.0 using zip file it shows:
Finding update package....
Opening update package...
Installing update...
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img", "boot")
E:error in /sdcard/update-oxygen-2.0-signed.zip
(Status 7)
Installation Aborted.
If i wipe device nothing really happens...
Where is the problem? Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance.
Take the battery out and leave your phone off for a few minutes.
Put the battery back in and try it again.
The exact same thing happened to me yesterday and this is how I fixed it!
Edit:
This usually happens because the phone cannot read the SD Card so remove the SD Card and put it back in.
Could be a corrupt SD card, what happens when you boot without an SD card inserted?
I left battery out for arround 5 minutes and it didn't helped. I changed SD card and it didn't helped too.... Well i will try tomorrow again. Thanks anyway
edit: I tried to boot into recovery without SD card and it shows errors too.
If ur desire is a new PVT4 device, the ClockWorkMod 2.5.0.7 doesn't work..U have to use amon ra 2.0.1 or the lathest clockworkmod 3.0.0.5-r3 (second post for downlaod)
To apply ur preferred recovery, u have to run unrevoked again, but before run it select from unrevoked program the *.img file of ur recovery (amon_ra or latest clockwork)
.
.................................
-Download amon ra
-Run unrevoked and from File/Custom recovery select the img file of amon ra
-Just now plug ur device and wait it to apply the new recovery
-Now u can flash the rom u like
Unrevoked allows u to root and also to flash a new recovery. A new recovery is needed for u to flash roms
I hope to have been more clear now

I had this problem initially on my SLCD desire 0.93 hboot.
The reason is that it need a custom root file to loaded through unlocker. This is available through XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9245153
recovery-RA-desire-v1.7.0.1-R5.1-0.93.rar
after this it rooted perfectly

problem chown/mod flashing AOSP over HTC Desire

Hello, I have a problem when I try to flash the AOSP compiled for the HTC Desire,
I'm using the recovery ClockworkMod 2.5.0.7
and when I flash the update.zip I get the following error:
E: Can't chown/mod /system/keyspa.sh
(No such file or directory)
E:Failure at line 14:
set_perm 0 0 06755 SYSTEM:keyspa.sh
Installation aborted
somebody know what's happening?
Thanks in advance..
How about keeping it all in one thread as opposed to starting a new one for every problem?

Sorry, Now I did it.
Just in this case I dont have any idea how can solve it.
Thanks in advance..
now the problem is the update-script / updater-script
I think the problem is the update-script. Well I try replacing the update-script by a updater-script from customized roms like Oxygen1.04 or CyanogenMod 6. But when I try to apply the update.zip I get the following error:
can't open /dev/tty0: No such file or directory
So I'm using the ClockworkMod recovery 2.5.0.7, and I don't know if that recovery can work with "updater-script" or just update-script.
Hope anybody can help me
how can I generate the update-binary for my updater-script
I figured that maybe the problem is because I dont have a udpate-binary file next to my updater-script.
someone can told how can I generate this file?
Thanks in advance..

[Q] Rooting problem.

Hi there,
I have a SLCD Desire with Hboot 0.93 which I have rooted with unrEVOked (v3.32). Seemed to go through fine, then proceeded to install ROM Manager which updated clockworkmod recovery to a higher version. I then reinstalled the original 2.5.0.7 recovery. Have put the ICS rom on the device and tried to install and seems to go through fine but when I reboot the device appears to be on the stock rom (2.2) but with superuser permissions installed. The device is branded on T-Mobile so has their start up screen etc.
I wiped the SD card so it just has the rom, and updates for it on the card. No android folder etc...
Try to 'Backup Current Rom' using ROM Manager and it says this when i first open it:
E: Can't find MISC:
E: Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E: Can't find MISC:
E: Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E: Can't find MISC:
and this when i go through the options and click backup:
Backing up boot...
Error while dumping boot image!
E: Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E: Can't find MISC:
Have tried to reflash using unrEVOked but it gets stuck at 'running root' every time.
Help?
Many thanks,
Dan.

is the 2.3.3 RUU this one?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869048
and is there a solution for macs? just curious.

If the error still appears after you got S-OFF + root by revolutionary, you have to flash a different recovery via fastboot. IMHO 4EXT and RMD are the best ones at the moment.
To flash recovery via fastboot, you have to install ADB / fastboot. In my sig you find a guide for this.

[Q] Clockwork

I want to flash a new ROM ( 2.3.6 ) but my clockwork shows me
Can't mount /system!
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open/cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
My question is: it will brick if I will try to flash a custom ROM (because it says can't mount /system)
These errors (in cwm recovery) only exist for official stock rom. Once u flash any custom rom(for e.g. Cyanogenmod 7) these errors will disappear.

so I can flash a new ROM without any problem\errors? (from the stock one).I don't know why but I think when I will try to flash a ROM\wipe data\wipe cache it would gave me the same error
up?
Yup! But make sure that it's clockworkmod recovery. U can flash custom roms only via clockworkmod recovery(not via stock recovery). Don't blame me if anything goes wrong. I'm just helping u like I do for my other friends.
Good Luck...!!
