Hello everyone,
I've a big problem with my Desire : yesterday I wanted to get back to stock settings.
So I've downgraded my hboot using the one from alpharev and then I flashed my phone using the right RUU.
Everything is fine except my screen doesn't power up. My phone can vibrate and play sound but I can't see anything.
This is quite anoying as I can't activate the usb debugging mode anymore to flash another RUU ...
Is there a way to do active usb debuggin mode with a pc or something else ?
Thanks !
Phone details?
Which RUU did you flash?
It is a stock HTC Desire with no operator tuning.
I flashed using RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed
As I can see there is two types of screen : amoled and slcd, and I think the RUU I used has the bad screen type for my phone ...
You flashed the amoled RUU. Flash this instead:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...3.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed.exe

The RUU you used was very old. Everything after froyo has both amoled and slcd drivers in it.
Did that mistake also. Remove batery and put it again, pres back button and hold it wille u press power button. After u start it means ur in fast boot mode. Now just run the correct ruu. I was also scaree but it was quick fix

The problem is that I'm not s-off anymore, so I can't flash anything. I need to enable the debugging mode but I can't as my screen is off...
If I can enable that debugging mode I think it will be ok, but how can I do this ...
Oh damn aliensk, I did like you said and... it works !
Thank you so much !
Thank others too, thank for your time !

I have a special situation here.. I rooted my phone then S-OFF.. Then i want to return to stock so i downloaded RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.19.707.7_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126179_signed.exe to flash back... Now i think my phone is dead.. When i press the Power Button, it only vibrate and the phone wont turn on.. Anyone can help with this situation? T.T It's an Asia Desire..
You probably SLCD bricked it. Do you hear the annoying boot sound that the phone makes? If so you SLCD bricked it for sure. Did you make a goldcard?

Ya. Mine is SLCD. I didn't hear anything.. It just vibrate once.. Do i need goldcard for generic Desire?
Is it a generic unbranded desire? If so, take the battery out to completely turn it off. Put the battery back in and boot into fastboot by holding back + Power for a few seconds. It probably won't react or vibrate but you probably will be there. Connect it to your PC. Now download 1.21 WWE RUU(See the sticky in android development section) and run it on a windows PC.
You probably want to flash the newer 2.13.707.1 RUU. That's the stock Froyo ROM for hTC_Asia_WWE. Shipped-roms.com has a copy.

Can you get to the fastboot screen?
If so, you should be able to flash a stock RUU on your device?
What HBOOT does it have?
0.83 ya i can go there but doesnt do anything
If you can find a stock RUU for Telus you could boot to fastboot, connect your device to your computer and run the RUU from your computer.
In theory this should flash your device back to how it was before you rooted.
wow i cant believe no1 in desire forum is helpful. i shouldnt of sold me x10

im with telus though with slcd
Oh right didn't know. I don't know how to tell between. Looks like your phone could be dead :/
I got this phone from a friend and its not working
as i know it was broken when somebody tried to update it...
I have attached file.
Please tell me how exactly i can repair the phone...
Also it dont start everytime.. and sometimes it vibrates a few times
Go to desire Q&A/Stickies and read bortak's troubleshooting guide, he covers this.

He got the phone like that off a friend. I dont think hes worried about a backup lol. Pull the battery out and put back in then hold volume down + hold power button down for bout 3-4 seconds and a menu will come up then say if your s-on/ s-off etc etc. Bortak's guide covers this anyway, think its numer [4] in the guide.

posting as much info as much you can, post the screen when you unplug usb cable, mostly hboot version, s-on/off etc
running CORRECT RUU or 2.3.3 RUU from htcdev.com(some risk involved) may sort it...

no, nothing happens
what error does 2.29 WWE RUU give you?
No, you need S-OFF only for advanced playing with your device. A normal, so called stock device should work with S-ON.
What does happen, when you try to install the RUU? What king of OS do you use? Is there a error message? Did you ever try to access an android via adb or fastboot?
I had this problem. Use a PB99IMG.zip file, extract it and fastboot flash the hboot, the reboot-bootloader,then flash system.img and boot.img (in that order). Then fastboot oem boot and if it boots execute the android 2.3 upgrade zip from htcdev.com

Then I was able to run those RUU...
RUU finalised but with errors, red triangle, again reverted to 2.1
another RUU... apparently 2.3.5 went ok. boot. and...
I CANNOT USE TOUCHSCREEN ANYMORE

If you're still S-OFF, I believe you just need to flash a custom recovery and then flash a stock ROM. You didn't need to unroot to go back to the stock ROM. Instructions on how to flash a custom recovery are in the "need help" link in my signature. Look in the PDF linked from post #7 there.

Now I see I ve found this PDF before but, there is not much about unrooting.
i understand you are trying to tell me to use this guide to flash stock rom with adb (or custom recovery)?
Will I be able to get OTA back. and get the original 2.3.5?
Im worring that touchsreen stopped working because some drivers (digitizer) had been wrong. How to make sure which rom is stock? WWE? but...
Oh.. got chest pain again.

No, flash a custom recovery. Instructions for that start at the bottom of page 9 of the guide. Then download the stock 2.3.5 rooted and flash it normally from recovery.
RUUs are all stock. Digitizer is hardware. Don't worry about the drivers.
No i'm not that guy.
but im scared as sh**.
"before i mess up my phone" ...thats what Im afraid of.
...just noted Teichopsia had deleted his reply. Do not know why?
I hate to ask this, but do you now good original unbranded rom for DHD A9191?
driphter and shipped roms are down.
so first step is to get custom recovery
then upload stock img-zip
then install it with custom recovery?
what if this will not help on the touch screen problem?
I was trying to get help at similar forum, on a similar problem, but this ROM that fixed them did not helped me. Still no touch. Either from phone or that forum..

Tom, are you able to enter hboot? Then choose fastboot and plug the phone. From there You can flash a RUU in CMD. In the guide in My signature (the same that bananagranola sent You) explains how to do that. If You Need further help just let me know....:fingers-crossed:

Fastboot is not the same as ADB. Instructions for flashing something with Fastboot are very clearly documented in the PDF that glevitan and I both told you to read. Unfortunately, I believe you lost S-OFF when you ran that RUU (since your HBOOT version changed), which means you lost Fastboot ability. You're now beyond my understanding; you're going to need to wait for glevitan to show up with his wisdom and hope that he can help you.
