Every time I plug my Evo into my computer, it says there may be an error and it is recommended to Scan and Fix it. I always hit cancel. I want it to stop popping up with this message. I don't hit scan and fix because I am not sure of what it will do to my phone. Anyways, how can I fix it?
You should copy everything on your SD card to your computer and format the card.

And then I can just put it all back on there and everything will be okay?
Yep

Agreed. Just hit ok. It's fine. It happens to mine occasionally too.
Yea mine did that 2. Wouldn't copy sh!t till I let it fix. Didn't hurt anything. I'm sure there are worse things than losing a memory card

I'd rather just copy, format, then recopy. And you guys are sure that after I copy it back over it will all read right and everything, correct?

Flash another rom, Myn's rom supports the cam in 004.
Same thing happened to me and I went thru 4 evos In 1 week all of them did the same thing. So I thought to myself I am extremely unlucky but then realized that there was one thing all of my phones had in common, my sd card. I saved my pics to my computer and reformated my card and sure enought it worked. So try reformating your card or try a different card and if that don't work go to sprint and raise hell.

And yes, I had this same problem happen, after reformatting my SD card all was good. But make sure you backup your data to your pc, so you can transfer back after formatting.

Take all the pics off of your sd card and format it with the evo then replace the pics into the DCIM folder and you will be fine. It has happened to me too on my replacement phone too.
I tried format didn't work but if I put pictures back in it should work
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I have the same problem as well and I can say with confidence the sd card is the problem. I got a new evo and a new sd card all was good until I copied my old files to the new card. The camcorder stopped working until I formatted the card then it worked. Afterwards I copied my pics only to the card and it was working fine. When I moved some apps to the card it stopped working again. I'm not really sure if it's a single app that's causing that or moving apps to the card is the problem.

have you tried connecting the phone to computer via usb in disk drive mode? have you tried taking the card out and putting it directly in a card reader?
Yes it tells me it cant cus its writeable protected or something like that and ut lets me see my files but wont let me drag anythinh off

you may have to format the card then.
Pull the card out of the phone and put it in your computer. Back everything up on it, format, and put everything back on.
Ut wont let me take anything off and i tried formatting in the phine and on my comp no luck at all

might just be a bad card then

Well ANY card is susceptible to failure. If you tried formatting it and it wont work, its likely a bad card. Personally i would try putting it in a card reader and try formatting it from a compute.r

Alright so when I take a photo, it saves just fine, and stays on it, But when I take the card out and than put it back in, they're erased for ssome reason. It just sstarted doing it yesterday, every picture I have saved from previous times stay there, only the new ones get erased. And its not only pictures i take. If I download an image off the web, when I pop my SD out than in, those get deleted to. So far videos dont get erased though. Anyone know why this is happening? I just formatted it now to troubleshoot but that didn't work
I'm running Syndicate frozen 1.2 and genocide kernel.

Same here, at first I thought it was EF02, still havnt narrowed it down. For me it happens when I copy ROMs, tweaks.zipz to the sdcard from pc, but what fixes it for me is just clicking/selecting the file, then unmount, it works...

Are the photo files going into the LOST.DIR folder on the sd card or are they just disappearing?

Doesnt go into the LOST.DIR folder. And the space frees up on the SD card.
So its officially only doing it to the photo format files. I formatted my SD and than put everything back on it, put it in my phone, it scanned and it all showed up just fine.
Problem occurs when I take the SD out and than put it back in, the media scanner re-scans it and now every picture was deleted. All the videos, music files, zips, etc all stood on the SD card.
Just wondering why the heck only the images are being tossed...

I read somewhere that there is a 2gb limit per folder so maybe make sure those folders you are saving to is less than 2gb.
Hope that is the problem, cause I don't have that problem yet - I have a lot of different folders like birthdays, family and friends, automobiles, videos, etc.
Good luck, keep us posted!
I'm thinkin it may be somewhat my fault afterall. Whenever I normallu remove my SDcard I just pop it out without going to settings and unmounting ffirst. If I yo to settings aand unmount before I take the card out now the ffiles stay on it so far. I guess thats my "fix" for it if that keeps working correctly.
So anyone having this problem, unmount in settings/SD card and storage before removing the card and see it the files you'd normally lose stick.

I followed those rules. Also had to reflash the rom when a theme I was testing got stuck in a boot loop. Pics I had saved before thereflash disappeared after the reflash. I've formatted the card twice, as well.

I am not using stock card but a class 4 card. Over the 4th of july weekend I had Google services error, gapps error, a popup saying I had to wipe data partition it was corrupted, pictures all got wiped out...in 3 days. Had to Odin 3 times and only twice ever before that. At first I thought it was Genocide 2.0, then I thought maybe the ROM I was using, now I have no clue but no issues either. Hope maybe it was an Android System deal and they fixed it...but I lost all of my good wallpapers damnit! Lol

I don't know what directly causes it but I found this link:

Thanks for searching that....the weird thing is the SD card isn't really damaged and the error goes away after a reboot. Never pops up again no matter how long I keep my phone on or the ROM installed. Maybe its an ICS glitch on our devices?

Try inserting your sd card into your PC to see if it can read it. You may need to reformat using FAT32.
It could also be a sign your sd card is on the fritz. There are a TON of threads that discuss SD card issues with the SGS3. (As a matter of fact, I had a Sandisk 32gb go belly up on me last month.)

I had a similar problem. I think you need to use Kies to transfer files from the PC to the Phone. If you want to transfer directly to the card, you need to remove it and put it in an SD Reader.
sounds like a bad sdcard, reformat the card if it is readable on the PC, if not then it's time for a new one. SdCards go by pretty quick these days it seems.
If it is just bad, and I reformat it, will it wipe everything on it?

What brands are you guys buying? I have two 16gb AmazonBasics Class 10s in 2 S3s, no issues yet. I've come to really like AmazonBasics stuff. I buy the HDMI cables all the time. Always the newest specs, almost always the cheapest.
Ok, something strange happened.. just for grins I went to drop box and exported some pics to my sd card and it shows in the gallery as sd card with those pics in the folder. However, when ya try to mount sd card, it still said safe to remove.

That's what happened to me with my Sandisk 32gb Class 4 card - I was able to get it to read/write/format on my PC but it wouldn't co-operate with my phone. After a few tries with the phone, I tried again with my PC but to no avail - it ended up going belly up. Ended up exchanging it for a new one.
However, I bought a Topram 16GB Class 6 card (recommended by another XDA member) and I'm trying that one out now to see how long that one lasts.
