I am kind of suck if the default sound theme. Does anyone have a sound package that would basically make all of my sounds final fantasy menu navigation sounds? For keyboard, opening and closing of menus and such.
If not. How would I do it on my own? Any good tutorials that could guide me on "skinning" the default sounds? They are boring. Lol.

FF7??
OH! Final Fantasy VII!
Indeed it is possible. If you were to download your favorite ROM and open it up you could navigate system/media/audio/ui and see all of the system ui sounds. the TW_Waterdrop is the audible sound you get when you navigate with the touchscreen.
You can also change low battery sounds, key presses, the dialer, etc.
You would need to get the audio files you want and convert them to .ogg format(I'm assuming). Then replace the stock audio with yours.
Have fun!
Thank you for the speedy reply, sir. I figured it would be something semi-simple. Just did not know if directly modifying system sounds like that would cause a lot of problems.
Guess it is off to my favorite torrent site to see if there are any good audio packages out there.

I'd use this. I love their menu sounds and I always look for a ring that sounds like the phone to get other characters.
I love FF7, a big fan. But ffs, I'd be annoyed as hell if the sounds were long.. good lord, can you imagin hearing the fanfare a billion times each time you decide to open the Dialer? LOL

Like the menu select beep, the jingly sound when you make a selection and the phone ring to call new characters. I wouldn't even mind the sword spin music when you erin a fight.

Final Fantasy soundboards
I found the developer's website who had the FFXI soundboard on the market at one point. He has FF7 there too. You can long press on each song/effect and save as ringtone, notification and/or alarm.
Enjoy.
I'm going to work on making some of them into system sounds in a flashable zip. I just need to map out what each one does.
Root, if you get it packaged up, I will love you forever (like a already do!)! I am just so busy lately, I barely have time to troll XDA, much less compile a sound package. I see someone else was requesting a Final Fantasy VII theme. Maybe you two could work together?

Well if there's a soundbyte for locking and unlocking... There's half of it!... Kind of, if you lock your phone that is.
So maybe.
Has me curious now... it does have the option for the sound when you lock unlock... so is that sound byte replaceable?
It's /system/media/audio/ui/Lock.ogg
Seems like the same sound is used for both lock and unlock. You could try replacing it and see what happens.

At first guess, I'd say so, since the system is looking for that particular filename. When Google released Android, all the system sounds were in ogg format. It's a feature, not a bug.

there's actually a Lock.ogg and an Unlock.ogg that i've seen. i have tried replacing one with a .ogg sound file, but it doesn't hold. it still reverts back to the original sounds for me
I don't know if you've already found an answer but I got mine to play a sound when turning the screen on/off by installing Widgetlocker, one of the options it offers is to play a sound when locking/unlocking phone as well as when turning the screen on/off.
It has a lot more features that I use and love, but it is a Paid app and dont know if you want to buy it just for the sound option. Hope this helps!
Edit: It doesnt have an option to play a custom sound on the app, but you may be able to change it on the apk?? Just a thought, I've never tried it.
I just replaced the oggs in the ui folder in sounds.

For those who want to delete annoying ringtone or alarm sounds from stock one, here is a simple solution to change it
You need : Root Explorer / Root Browser
1. Go to root.
2. Open system/media/audio
3. (See, there are 4 folders : alarm, notification, ringtone, and ui) Choose folder that you want.
4. If you don't like the sound from that folder, just delete it. If you want to give your own sound, just copy it to the folder that you chose. But i recommend your sound file type is ogg vorbis. You can download Audacity from (http://audacity.sourceforge.net) to helps you convert the sound file
5. (Important) If you choose ui folder and want to change the system sound, don't forget to change your new sound's name like the old one!
5. Done!
After that, if you have problem about ringtone loop, see my thread below

Can it be done without root?
I have a new GT i9100G which is not rooted and as of this time I do not wish to void the warranty. So, my question is, can this be done without rooting my device? If not, will using Odin to root the device (flashing a kernel) set the counter to 1, and if so, how do I reset it without a jig?
PS. I hope I am not posting this in the wrong place and apologize if I am.

I got another question. I removed all those annoying sounds I never used and never will, the way you showed, but when I open the alarm menu or ringtone menu, they are still visible.
How do I remove them from there too? I wiped cache and Dalvik cache, but they are still there although there are only 3 alarm sounds left, the list of sounds in the alarm menu is still the same...
A really simple thing to do.

Once you are done with removing/adding the ring tone, restart your phone. It will update the new list.

Use Audacity: It's free, and open source!
If your GT-S5830 has only one speaker (mono), you can, if your audio is stereo, create a mono track which should help somewhat. Audacity>new>open your file> tracks> stereo to mono. You can also use audacity to boost the db of the of the audio signal (take care not to cause clipping). Audacity>effect>amplify.
Hope this helps.

persistent irritating original ringtone!
My friend, please help me out. I have a problem with my rooted Huawei mediapad s7-931u device. i dont know why whenever i use/ install hisuit driver, the ringtone of the device gets back to its original (irritating!) one. off course, the name of the ringtone in my device is the one I have chosen, but that does not ring and the original one is played. I have tried to not use hisuit but still when i install a new app or use Superuser app, the ringtone changes to its original one!!!
you know what's funny! i looked all four audio folders to find that ... sound but it wasnt in any of them to be DELETED or what.
Please help me out! it's really going on my nerves now!
by the way, i forgot to make a ROM back up! oops. actually i tried but i couldnt. please tell me what to do.

Want to get SGS3 touch tones, water unlock and lock sounds, and make the menu and back buttons have a water like effect like the SGS3??
Well you came to the right place, here I am going to teach you how to get those with a simple tut, read on:
DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible if your phone get bricked, bootlooped, unable to start etc. You take the risk to provide this modifications to your phone. Remember that you are messing with the system root partition, one small mistake might get you into serious trouble, sometimes unfix-a-ble. 99.99% success rate so proceed at your own risk. Remember to do a nandroid backup through CWM or backup the sound files if you do not want the sounds anymore, avoid losing your data if you made a mistake or find the water sounds too annoying .
:: REQUIREMENTS ::
a rooted Galaxy W
Solid Explorer, Root Explorer, ES File Manager or any that can have access to the system files
a computer to download the sound files
patience:angel:
:: LET"S GET STARTED ::
Download the files provided below and transfer them to the root of your SD card
Open up your file explorer(in this case Solid Explorer for me)
Click "Jump", "Device", "System root"
Scroll down untill you see the system folder
Select the folder and then locate the media folder inside and later select it
Select "audio" then "ui"
Backup the sound files in your system by COPYING "Lock.ogg","S_HW_Touch.ogg","TW_Touch.ogg","TW_Unlock_Glass.ogg" into your SD Card and then deleting them accordingly
Locate where you put the downloaded sounds and then copy and paste them into the same place which is system/media/audio/ui
Exit Solid Explorer and do a REBOOT(recommended)
Enjoy the sound of the SGS3
:: DOWNLOADS ::
Lock.ogg: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?aue7ouj4wsjiixh
S_HW_Touch.ogg: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?bj9me3e8ygzqdhi
TW_Touch.ogg: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?3fji29354cd4n2z
Update:
Special thanks to @yihao96 for finding a workaround for the sounds to be possible in cm9:
For cm9 user,
Download Lock.ogg and put in /system/media/audio/ui to replace the lock screen sound.
For unlock screen sound, rename Lock.ogg to Unlock.ogg and replace it in the same folder.
Download S_HW_Touch.ogg and rename it to Effect_Tick.ogg then replace the Effect_Tick.ogg in the same folder.

thanks you very much but
1.TW_Unlock_G"r"ass.ogg must be rename to TW_Unlock_G"l"ass
2.DL for TW_Touch.ogg ist the same file as S_HW_Touch.ogg (fix it)
3. The first both files are the same as the both TW files.Maybe is that right
Thanks.
Best regards

Edit:
What are the both files
Lock.ogg and TW_Unlock_Glass.ogg for.
After replace all 4 files there is the difference only when i touch the screen ....
I use Stock Lock screen no Go locker or something else is it just cause that?
well firstly i thank you for telling me about renaming the 'r' to 'l' my mistake for it.will also fix the links. the lock .ogg file is for the lock sound when you lock the phone and the tw glass .ogg is for the water like effect sound. if you dont want it, just put back the original sound clip that you backup into the location again. is it working for you?

sorry my friend. but ics has a different sound layout as in gb touchwiz. i'm not that familiar with the system layout for cm9 so i guess none of those sounds work for it. however, there is one which is the Lock.ogg sound which MAY be able to changed as cm9 has that sound, so i will say if u are taking a risk against it, always make sure u have a backup either the sounds or a nandroid. hope this helps and i wish someone would prove me wrong on this.
here's what u gonna do:
1. download that Lock.ogg file and transfer it to your phone.
2. have a backup of the stock "Lock.ogg" in cm9 or have a nandroid backup ready just in case.
3. replace the downloaded "Lock.ogg" in the system/media/ui place and reboot.
hoping it would work to prove me wrong.remeber to do a backup(i may sound a lil pesky here because of me keep on urging you to do a backup but believe me its for the best for you, though ur phone wont get bricked for changing sound files.

How would I go about changing the animation? I don't like it. Especially att's. I tried running the boot animation program that comes up on google play. It says I need busy box. I downloaded that, but not sure what to do.

Am gathered some yesterday. .I have college late..ill try to post some..ill make another thread
Has anyone tried switching out the sound effects played when detaching the S-pen? I know it's possible via a root file manager, but how would I go about preparing the files, format, bitrate, etc? I would really like it to play a cinematic-style sword unsheathing sound when I remove the stylus.
You will need to be rooted to do this. You can use root Explorer (paid) or solid Explorer (free)
The files are located in:
/system/media/audio/ui/
Pen_att_noti1.ogg
Pen_det_noti1.ogg
Those are the two sound files that control the remove and insert S Pen sounds.
Rob the plumber created these to make it sound like a light saber, if you want to try them out.

Using this now!
Any recommendation for how to create a compatible .ogg file out of, say, a .wav file? I don't know if an incorrectly formatted file could cause a crash in this instance.

That I'm not sure about. I'm sure there is a whole bunch of software out there. . Probably even apps... To convert. As far as length requirements, I'm also not sure. But I'd just stick close to the duration of the rest of the ui sounds and you should be fine. I think the worst that could happen is, the sound won't trigger. ..pretty sure

The sounds I used were just small mp3 files. I just renamed them to .ogg. I don't know if you could do that to a .wav file. Give it a shot.

The lightsaber SFX are just renamed .mp3s? What bitrate/codec, or does that even matter?
Lightsabers = win, perfect to go along with my Jedi Master rom. I was to say flac will actually convert to ogg, nero, winamp, etc.
google can help.
I am using the sword slash notification from zedge as my pen detatch sound... Its awesome! Actually feels like your pulling a sword out when u take the pen out.

Yep. Just renamed mp3s. I didn't convert them.
Here's the files to replace the second pen removal and return sound effects with a sword unsheathing one. They shouldn't replace the lightsaber sounds, as those replaced the first sound set. These have been confirmed to work with Jedi X4, just unzip and paste them over the existing files in /system/media/audio/ui/ using Root Explorer.
If I come up with any more, I'll post them in this thread.

The gain on these files are really, really loud, almost unusable. As far as I know, there isn't a way to modify the gain in an .ogg file. Are you able to adjust them on your end?

If you use these files, you may have to manually adjust the permissions of the new files in the folder to be identical to the rest of the files. For me, it wouldn't work otherwise.

You beat me to it because I was going to say the same thing. I really like the sword sounds but like you said even on the lowest volume they're ridiculously loud. I'm pretty sure you can just rename them back to .mp3 and then use a conversion program on a pc to adjust the levels. I'll give it a shot and see if it helps and repost them if it does

can you link or upload the effect please
Here's two quieter versions, tweaked in Audacity. One is about 50%, the other 25% of the original volume.
Thanks allot man. .

I'm not sure how to but u can download the zedge app for free. Then search for the samurai sword notification. Download it. Use file explorer go to zedge folder and move the mp3 to system/media/audio/ui. Then rename the Pen_det_noti1.ogg to Pen_det_noti1.bak and rename samuraisword.mp3 to Pen_det_noti1.ogg. This is how I did it. It is rather loud but its awesome. I just turned down system volume a little and its fine.
