if i flash this rom, will i still have rom manager recovery?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200261
hi, i read flashing the official 2.3.3 will not allow you to enter custom hboot, as the new hboot is not hacked yet.
i know this rom is just based on the official and is pre rooted but i just want to confirm, if i flash this will i still have my custom recovery manager which i got via unrevoked 1 click rooter and can i go back via my nandroids at any time
also would anyone know the amount of internal space i will get approximately with this rom.
thanks

I'm not sure, but even if it doesn't come with rom manager you can still download and install it

thanks for your reply, but i need to know if i will be able to go back

As far as I understand, the pre rooted rom doesn't change your hboot so you should be able to go back. Check through the rom thread to double check that though mate.

Yea, it doesn't include hboot

WhatROM are you using? Rooted stock?
Theme which you "installed" is for OpenDesire and isn't compatible with any other ROM...
So... flash stock ROM or rstore NANDroid backup...

so probably flash stock ROM.. there was no warning.... what to do now??
Silly.
If youre on 2.1, then you havent rooted, youre using a rooted stock rom or youre using an old Sense rom.
OD is vanilla/stock android 2.2, and even then, finding an up to date BluFrost theme is tricky.

Find rooted stock ROM - download - copy to sdcard - boot into recovery - flash zip from sdcard - find that ROM - choose - confirm - wait - reboot - enjoy!

ADW Launcher isn't the only alternative to Sense. I'm using Launcher Pro and it rocks!
You could've flashed rooted Froyo...

IMHO, ADW is 10000x more stable than LP.
Anyway, are you able to go into recovery when not connected to a pc?

on gingerbread and cant go back

so im stuck on gingerbread, and can only use my backup with is a gingerbread one, when i reload cwm 2.5.x through fastboot its doesnt work just loas the rom and never boots past the htc screen. being stuck on gingerbread aint the worst but i always like to move around. any ideas?
try flashing the recovery from rom manager, this will install the 2.5 recovery. fastboot flash will only work if you have the eng h-boot, radio s-off won't do.
yeah got the eng h-boot
and im geting into 2.5, and it says it loads but no dice.
doing the install through rom manager just force closes on gingerbread for me.

You can't flash back to CM6 via the ROM Manager. You need to flash CWR v2 via the ROM manager, boot into recovery and manually flash your CM6 backup. And be sure to do a full wipe of everything before flashing

I had cm7 but went back to cm6.1.0 on my g1 but returning it to stock Android 1.0 and then rooting from the beginning, the phone is a little faster now after formatting the sdcard

You should still go the gfree route, they found the initial hack could be overrided; check the Wiki here for a guide to use gfree for those of us that rooted from the get go.

Okay, I think I got it. You flashed Gingervillan without backing up your stock ROM?

If you want to flash a non-GB ROM, you need the CWM2 (which is what you did). It sounds like after you put this recovery back though, you tried to flash a GB backup? This won't work (since anything GB requires CWM3).
If you have the CWM2 recovery, just go download any Froyo-based ROM you want to use, place the zip on you SD card, boot into recovery, and apply the zip.
nah just tried to flash a 2.2 rom through cwm2.5 no backup will only flash gb backup through 3.0.0.5

[Q] Desire stuck on boot screen HELP!

ok, got my desire a month ago unbranded
rooted with unrevoked and got clockworkmod running
tried to make a nandroid backup then the phone just went into a boot loop
i searched the web and apparently its happening with unrevoked desires alot and all you need to do is to apply the recovery you made
however, after applying the recovery, my desire just gets stuck on the white HTC bootscreen, left it for an hour and its still like that. can get into HBOOT and clockwork mod but dont know what to do now- i've tried everything- wiping partition, davlick cache etc.
Can someone please please please help me!! My desire is PVT4 S-ON, stock froyo sense rom, clockworkmod v2.5.07. What ROMS can i flash onto it cyanogenmod, leedroid, open desire etc? Any help will be very welcome.
Sorry if posted in wrong section, am new
Thanks
Just copy another Rom to the root of your SD, perform a complete wipe and then flash that.
Sent from my Desire using XDA App
sorry am pretty noob as you can tell, what kind of rom will i need? cyanogen, open desire?
thanks for the reply
That's up to you ... do you prefer sense or a sense free Rom? Go over to the development section and read up, there are many great roms to choose from. It's all down to preference at the end of the day.

And I assume you know how to flash a custom Rom. Only other advice I would give is remember to partition your SD card if you want to flash an ap2sd Rom
Sent from my Desire using XDA App
thanks so much, flashed clockworkmod and everything is working perfectly
so scared that i had bricked my desire

[Q] Quick question re: HBOOT

I installed CM& RC4 last night on my brothers Desire. I then flashed the bravo_alphaspl-cm7.img from alpharev to give him more space for his apps.
Now just for the future i need to know, if i want to install a different type of ROM (stock, leedroid etc), will i need to flash another HBOOT to his phone? If so, does this be done before or after installing a new ROM?
Just wanting to future proof myself here in case he asks for sense back or something.
Yes, the CM7 HBOOT partition table is designed for the CyanogenMod usage. The stock ROMs and LeeDroid need another partition table and consequently another HBOOT.

and flash hboot before rom

Except Oxygen. If you go to Oxygen it should be fine.

[Q] Installing CWM from Rom Manager

I'm completely new to rooting and still have a lot to learn.
Today I wanted to check out ROM Manager to search for ROMs - mostly just to try it. Since Virtuous Sense 2.0.0 runs buttery smooth on my DZ I'm not really looking for another ROM at the moment. It runs much faster than Virtuous Unity 2.37 and Virtuous Doubleshot 1.1.6b which I tried out initially.
I used this guide to root my phone after I downgraded it using Setherio's excellent guide and thought I had CWM installed. However, ROM Manager prompts me to install CWM. I double checked the rooting guide and see that it mentions Clockwork Recovery and not ClockworkMod. Are these two not the same thing?
My Clockwork Recovery version is 3.0.2.4 and it works just fine. Will I override this when installing CWM from ROM Manager?
I don't want to break anything now that I managed to get rid of most of the annoying bugs in the official HTC release.
Clockwork and Clockworkmod are the same.
There is a bug in Rom manager in that it doesn't actually look at the recovery partition, it just reports you as having what ever recovery it last flashed.
The rooting instructions does flash recovery, but Rom Manager doesn't realise. There is no harm in overwriting it.
Stick with 3.0.2.4 though, 5.0.x.x is still buggy as hell at the moment for the vision.

Clockwork Recovery and ClockworkMod are the same thing (as is CWM, which is often ised as well).
I'd suggest just flashing the most recent CWM (v3.0.2.4, I think is the latest) via ROM Manager to shut up ROM Manager, it shouldn't hurt anything.

Thank you both for your answers
I'll try reinstalling CWM from ROM Manager when I'm home from work tonight.

Thank you, I took that from Nipqer's post as well. Just came over the EXT4 Recovery thread. Might be I should try that out.

You should check out 4EXT Recovery. It's awesome. I've been using it for two days now and I'm not turning back. It has many additional options, though it's built from CWM. It's the best of ClockworkMod and more.
If you want some more info on it take a look at this thread.
