Guys, please help.
I had the phone rooted and a custom rom installed it was a copy of the stock virgin rom without the annoying programs, everything was working fine, but when I needed to change the number on my phone i tried the ## some number # and it didn't work, so I went to the menu and tried a reset to factory default, whe it booted all I get is a clockworkmod recovery console, i can navigate to the sd card where there is a backup of the original rom and info, it lets me restore but when i boot I still get the clockworkmod recovery console it will only boot into this console, when i try updating or intalling a new room it always fails, can anybody please help me?
not bricked
Your not fully bricked if you can get to the clockwork mod. What version of clockwork do you have... 3.0.2.4? have you tried plugging phone into computer and see if it connects via sd card adapter not usb (looking for errors dead sd card)
try wipe data and sd card If this doesnt work try these steps found by ldking93 on androidforums.com ( I can't post link yet do too xda spamming rules :-(
1. Put your SD Card into your computer.
2. Download CM7 from here.
3. Download the google apps (Market, etc...) from here
4. Put these both on your SD Card, still zipped. (DO NOT unzip these!)
5. Start up into recovery (Hold volume down, home, power. When you see the LG logo, release)
6. Click wipe cache partition (you will need to use the camera button to select)
7. Click Advanced>> Wipe Dalvik Cache
8. Hit the power button to go back to the main recovery screen
9. Click Mounts and storage, then format
A) data
B) cache
C) boot
D) system
10. Click install zip from SD card
11. Click asopCM7-VM670-20110601-signed.zip
12. Once it finishes (it may be a while, and you should see no errors. If you do, PM me and I will help you.) Click your GApps Zip.
13. Reboot your system. You will now be using clockwork mod 7 (aOSP CM7).
update
download cm7 and gapps (google apps) from cyanogenmod's website, and if it doesn't work try googleing "lg optimus v clockworkmod boot loop" and click on link by androidforums or androidcentral
clockworkmod recovery version
clockworkmod recovery version
v3.2.0.0
i have in my sd card:
aospCMOD-OV-20110307-signed.zip
when i try to install i get an error:
E: Error in /sdcard/rom/aospCMOD-OV-20110307-signed.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted.
FIXED
I used clockworkmod recovery to allow the use of the sd card via teh mount usb option, downloaded xionia recovery, it allowed me to flash xionia recovery, rebooted into xionia recovery and was ablo to install new rom without a problem.
fixed the boot

Hello there
I was about to flash a new Rom and before doing that I partitioned with Rom Manager the SD.
I also formatted the SD Card with Rom Manager.
From that moment on I was not able to restart into recovery mod any longer from Rom Manager.
I then decided to restart in bootloader to do a full wipe to factory reset.
From that moment on when I try to start the phone, I get stuch to the HTC Logo/Custom image logo and it keeps on booting over and over again.
I simply cannot access the phone. What can I do to fix that?
Thanks in advance
Update
I removed the battery for some time ( 30 mins) and was then able to reboot in bootloader. ( Power + back )
I headed to recovery but I am now stuck again with the phone and the red triangle...
I then use power+vol. + and get to system recovery but I just have:
-Reboot system now
- apply sdcard update.zip
- Wipe data/factory
- Wipe cache...
and nothing seems to work...
Any Idea?
Surely this is just because you wiped your memory card?
Yes I did. I am not 100% sure as I panicked a little bit probably and now I do not remember correctly but it was suggested a full wipe so I did it.
How can I now sort it out?
Did you copy the stuff from your sd card before you wiped?
Yes I did a nan back up and copied it all
Have you copied it all back? Just go to apply sdcard update.zip and the clockworkmod recovery shoud be there.
I could not copy it all back because after I started the whole process I could not access the phone anymore and even now, if I plug it to the PC it does not get recognized by it
okay download this:
http://koush.tandtgaming.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-bravo.zip
Put it on your sdcard. Then go to the recovery menu you were on and click apply sdcard update.zip and you have the old clockworkmod recovery. If you also put a rom on the sd card you will be able to flash it over and will get a new rom. That should fix the problem!
Ehi Taylor I tried what you suggested and it worked!
Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it!
I have a Samsung Galaxy S that has been updated to Gingerbread via Kies.
I decided i would try my hand at installing the Cyanogen mod as listed here: wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S:_Full_Update_Guide
I followed the exact instructions and the Heimdall Suite to install speedmod + clockwork kernel in the link they provided. The phone now just sits on the first boot screen "Galaxy S GT-I9000" and doesn't move. What am i missing here?
How do i place the zip files on the root of the SD card?
Or at the very least how do i just get the phone to work again? Where did i go wrong?
Edit, if i take the battery out and put it back in i can get the phone to start in recovery mode with clockwork, but it still won't boot. it just freezes
If you plug your phone into your PC, is it seen as a storage device? If so, copy the ROM.zip you are trying to flash to your SD and then select Flash zip from SD option in Recovery.
If your PC doesn't see the phone, use an SD card reader or another device to copy the zip to the card. Depending on the ROM you might need to have the gapps zip on there too so that you can flash that at the same time as the ROM.
Edit: From the wiki:
Method via Recovery
1.Download the latest version of CyanogenMod.
Optional: Download the Google Apps for the device.
2.Place the CyanogenMod update.zip file on the root of the SD card.
Optional: Place the Google Apps .zip on the root of the SD card also.
3.Boot into the ClockworkMod Recovery.
4.Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod Recovery, use the side volume buttons to move around, and either the power button or the trackball to select.
5.Select the option to Wipe data/factory reset.
6.Then select the option to Wipe cache partition.
7.Select Install zip from sdcard.
8.Select Choose zip from sdcard.
9.Select the CyanogenMod update.zip.
Optional: Install the Google Apps by performing steps 7 - 9 again and choosing the Google Apps update.zip.
10.Once the installation has finished, select +++++Go Back+++++ to get back to the main menu, and select the Reboot system now option. The Samsung Galaxy S should now boot into CyanogenMod.
Turns out the wiki link to clockworkmod was out of date. Which was why the phone wasn't booting. reflashed it with the latest kernal for clockworkmod and now everything runs fine!
Hello guys, couple days back I quit smoking so i had some spare time and I thought I could improve my 1st android phone. Well, I am smoking this very moment and I have a very nice paperweight on my desk.
ROM: t=1873652
I've tried installing the ROM, but it didn't work. I've done everything exactly as in the tutorial, but I got stuck.
So I got past these steps:
* Download the CWM for pocket from here
* Copy update.zip into your internal memory
* Go to recovery mode (Vol-up + Home + Power)
* Choose apply Update from SD card
* Select update.zip file
* Wipe data factory reset,
* Wipe Cache data
but then I tried installing the ROM itself from the SD card I got the error "E:Can't mount /sdcard/"
I can't cancel the installation or boot my system, I don't have a data cable, although I have a card reader if that helps. My android was on the S5300XXLF5 stock firmware and I am using CWM v5.0.2.8. Oh and everytime I try to reboot the device from CWM menu it just freezes all I'm seeing is the console with the "Rebooting..." at the bottom of it.
What should I do now? I want to either get this ROM working or just getting my phone to work with any firmware - any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
update1
I get an error even before that, it pops up during "Data Factory Reset" procedure:
E: format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblklp2
Formatting /sdcard/.android_secure...
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
Skipping format...
Data wipe complete.
oh and BTW, CWM getting stuck in the "rebooting..." stage is a perk of this build apparently...
Where did you get your ROM? Did you download the Mak-Droid ROM?
Copy the zip file to your sdcard. After you get the CWM running, you proceed to installing your new ROM. Read the instructions carefully.
And if you are stuck in rebooting, if you read the instructions- it tells you to manually reboot by pressing the power button. After this reboot, it will go back to the original MOD the you reboot again.
This should work for you...
I had the same experience. Just manually reboot the phone.
It is stated on the instructions that the reboot option on CWM for galaxy pocket doesn't work as of now.

If you applied update.zip after that - 1)put the file on the root (I.e when you open my files the first page that appears)
2)reboot to cwm
3)wipe data/factory;wipe cache partition;and go to advanced and select wipe dalvik cache
4)now go back and select install zip from sdcard
5)choose the file and select yes
6)wait installing....completed
7)reboot
Wait 2-5 min to load the rom and then enjoy..

Owing to circs I wasnt able to start repartioning and installing ROM until today. I followed the instructions to back up the SD card and then partitioned the SD card as follows:
tools/
partition sdcard/
remove all partitions and start from scratch/
chose "1024"
This completed okay.
I then did
wipe/format/
format all partitions except sdcard
install from sdcard/
choose zip from sdcard/
then selected the rom to flash it.
The Rom I chose was Android Revolution SD which said it had installed but when I rebooted from Recovery all I could get was Recovery no matter what reboot option I chose. So I went back to wipe/format and reformated all partitions except sdcard and tried the ROM suggested in previous threat to OP but it refused to install. So repeat with Oxygen and various other ROMs all of which aborted without completing.
In addition 4EXT started rebooting continuously in Recovery. When I run Recovery I get a message that says it hasn't been configured but don't know if that is a problem or not. I take the battery out and power up with sound down, which brings up Fast Boot and then I go back into Recovery and try again. So far no ROM (other than Android Revolution SD) has even pretended to install.
Any ideas? Please?
Managed to install MildWild and will take it from there.
have you tried to wipe the devlik cache ? or do a full wipe ,
Hi people, I have a HTC Desire that I has Clockworkmod installed. I gave it to my girl and she deleted Clockworkmod I think. The phone gets the splash screen but bootlooped, I did the power vol down and got into the bootloader, go to recovery, phone loads into cwm everything i do in cwm hangs the phone, I tried flashing recovery files from fastflash and android flasher but nothing works.
Its like the cwm is corrupted and wont let me do anything how do I get into the phones recovery not Clockworkmod recovery.
Cheers Glenn
sorry i;m new at this
- You can't really accidentally delete a recovery. If you can get into clockworkmod recovery it, it is not deleted
- You can only flash a different recovery if you are s-off, are you s-off?
- Does performing any action within cwm cause it to hang immediately? Can you try to full wipe (wipe data/factory reset), and then flash a ROM.zip file such as cyanogenmod? Does it boot?
- If you can't get it to boot, then you will likely have to flash an RUU to get it booting again. Use the 2.3.3 GB RUU, details how to flash are in the troubleshooting guide stickied to the top of Q&A.
- Once you get it booting and if you still want to install a custom ROM, use revolutionary to s-off, then flash 4EXT recovery instead, use that recovery to (re)partition your sdcard and install the ROM.

Yes I'm S-off, the phone wont start(boot all the way to working) I get into the (power vol down) menu, I go into recover, anything I do in there hangs the phone all I get is the cwm hat icon, I have to tske the battery out and put it back in. the only thing I think is, I have change micro SD cards the one that used to be in it is in my new phone and have deleted all the old files on it.
WHENEVER I do anything CWM it hangs can I recover without CWM it seems it controlls everything i do....
i had Rom manager installed too thet could be deleted, if rom manager is delete will that stuff up the phone, i think the partition is delete tooo... can i re partition it from windows??

- I've never seen CWM hang like this. Within CWM, are you using the power button to select the options? You need to push the trackball to select (the middle button on the front of the phone)
- If you were using a custom ROM which used the sdcard in some way like a partition, you can't simply switch sd cards without backing up and transferring the necessary files to the new sdcard
You are s-off, so that's good. Assuming you still want a custom ROM:
- Flash 4EXT recovery using fastboot
- Backup your sd card, and use 4EXT recovery to completely reformat and partition your sd card (maximum 2GB ext4 partition)
- Copy backup back to sdcard, and ROM.zip of your choice
- (Optional but recommended) For maximum app space, flash optimal hboot for your ROM using fastboot, read the ROM's install instructions for information.
- 'Wipe all partitions except sdcard' option within 4EXT recovery (this is a 'full wipe')
- Install ROM.
EDIT: once you get it booting again, DO NOT use ROM manager in any way on this phone. You don't need it, has caused problems on this phone, could have been the reason for your issues in the first place.

A factory ROM is not a custom ROM. If you want a full factory / stock ROM, you will need to flash an RUU (use the 2.3.3. GB WWE RUU)
If you intend to still use the phone, and install a few apps on it without running out of space, then you still need a custom ROM. With CM7, for maximum app space you need:
- cm7r2 hboot (flash with fastboot)
- partitioned sd card (using 4EXT recovery or gparted only, NOT CWM or minitool partition wizard)
- an app such as S2E or Darktremor A2SD to move apps and dalvik to the partition, or flash a compatible app2sd script
Or pick a ROM of your choice. The correct hboot, partition and A2SD method still apply to virtually all custom ROMs
and what about Rom Manager and CWM can I uninstalll them and put 4EXT on it instead

Like I said, you don't need ROM manager. CWM recovery is ok as long as you only use it to backup, full wipe and install ROMs. don't use it to partition the sd card.
4EXT is better as it can partition and backup/wipe/install ROMs all in one. Flash it using fastboot, or install it using the 4EXT app in the thread.
