[Q] Question for chefs - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there!
I have a question:
Is it possible to create (or may be it already exists) a ROM with following features:
Android 2.3.x
Sense 2.1
RTL (hebrew) support (built in, or ROM should be deodexed)
Without any kind of a2sd/data2sd built in .
The reason I ask is I am using Link2SD solution for Desire's small storage problem.
It turns out that link2sd is not so popular, though IMHO it is very good solution.
Anyway, all ROMs I have encountered so far use some kind of xxx2sd solution,
which I am not interested in, and that interferes with link2sd.
So if you can point me to such ROM or create one, it would be great!
Thank you in advance!

thanks for that is there one in particular you would recomend over the others ?
Asking me to recommend you one ROM over other is like asking me to recommend you my favourite color.
It depends on your preferences, but I "guess" a more suitable rom for you would be AuraxT or RCMix.
You should know, that although recently snq- (a developer here) managed to get the camera working on the HD ROM ports to the desire, there still isn't a release that has implemented his fix.
So right now you won't be able to take photos.

[Q] thai fonts (included in rom)

I'm running froyo 2.2.1 (leaf r3) and want to know if there's any new stable ROMS that have Thai fonts already included.
There seems to be a whole load of misinformation about how to install Thai fonts and whether they are already installed in certain ROMS. I've seen many people saying fine now they've upgraded to froyo and all working with Thai fonts displaying correctly -- well that isn't my experience running 2.2, just the same as 2.1 with little sqaures.
So I tried the manual install from a thread on here by installing fresh / font changer and busybox, that doesn't work either fresh is complaining that it doesn't have write access -- my phone is fully rooted so don't know why it saying this.
I've been wanting Thai fonts for months and that was the only reason I rooted my handset and upgraded to 2.2 all to no avail. Can someone put me out of my misery and tell me a solution that works or a ROM that definitely has the fonts included ?
thanks in advance
Moved to General, question should not be post it DEV, thanks in advance.
Why ? I would have thought the DEV's of the ROMS would know for sure what was and was not included in the ROMS.

WinMo 6.5 and NAND Android possible?

Hello,
I have been researching for a while trying to find an answer to my question but hadn't
found a solution. I would like to know if it is possible at all to have an otion during cold
phone boot-up to select to boot to WinMo 6.5 or NAND Android?
I have been running Android from SD card for a long time but it seems to me that the
SD development is slowly coming to an end. So, I would like to have a way to select a
recent NAND Android build (must me CM7 variant) and still have an option to boot to
WinMo 6.5 (exclusively to run iGO8).
So, dear forum users, I would be very grateful if someone can shed a light on the matter.
Thank you!

there is no space for both operating systems to live in NAND all together.
What i would suggest, is install iGO on Android if that resolves your problem.
P.S.: wrong thread
It's possible to run HD2 nand Android Sense & GB and Desire nand Android GB from an HD2 with a WM6.5 rom, you can use portadroid for that.
I've an HD2 with WM6.5 dutty rom, and I run Oxygen 2.2.2 (GB235), HyperDroid-CM7-v3.0.1 (GB235), Desire HD 3.06.405.1 - Sense 3.0 - Android 2.3.5 and NDT SENSE3.0 PYRAMID BASED V7.0
I also use igo8 for WinMo and Android, you can share the same map directory.
Oxygen 2.2.2 is super fast.

[Q] Some questions in chinese support

Recently I flashed Virtuous Quattro RC3 which is an awesome ICS ROM, but there are two little problem with Chinese...
I may like to have the Chinese input in official ROM 'cause there are lots of unconvinced with market keyboard... But I had search for this and found out nth. Is there any way I can do to get some similar things?
By the other hand, there is a glitch in Chinese display, after a few description expands in market (Chinese desc.), all words corrupted as unexpected (including English like the attached img), but its all fine in other ROM, had tried Absolution (The Collective). Is there anyway to solve it?
Thanks for your time and I know I am a noob

[Q] Installing KangBang 3.0

Hello XDA,
I've been following you for years. I started following you with my first Android phone, an HTC Hero. I've been very happy to be able to use a community ROM that made a far better experience than the stock ROM.
I recently got a brand new HTC One V PrimoU, and I'd like to make it my new polyvalent tool.
I'm not a noob in computers, kernel/linux related stuff, electronics, networking. I already tried some ROMs. In fact, I started with KangBang 3.0 (the same version as now I think), but both WiFi and BlueTooth were not working. Android could not even detected the WiFi MAC address, so I guess it was a driver or wireless chip firmware related problem. I think I was the only one affected, so it was maybe a bad flash or I used the wrong kernel. I did'nt investigate more at the time, but if it happens again to me, I'll send some system/kernel logs.
I then tried AOKP, had a great (really) experience with it, except that the Jack plug sound quality was awful. No bass, only mid/high tones. I even thought my speakers were dead at first, but then tried with headphones. Now, I want to try KangBang again, because that ROM was good, and fast, just missing WiFi.
TL;DR
I'd like to ask some precise questions about KangBang and the HTC One V.
I initially wanted to ask in the ROM dev thread, but can't since I'm a new user, so I ask here. Sorry if the questions are stupid/simple/answered, but let's make a clear base, with precise interrogations and answers, so that they will never be asked again
The kernel is included in the .zip file. Still, do we need to flash manually ? Or will the Aroma installer handle that ?
What about ROM Manager ? Is it recommended to use or is it a good way to brick a phone as I heard ?
Does this ROM change the base Android system and file structure ? Would it be compatible with a side-by-side installation of a Linux system such as Debian ? (To see what I mean by side by side installation of Linux, search Debian Kit for Android on Google, as I can't post links)
Also, I'd like to tell ROM makers these advices (don't take them bad, I you think I'm wrong about them there's no problem, just tell me why) :
It would not be a bad idea to give a simple statistic about the ROM : the load average with the ROM installed on an idle and clean phone. That would give a good indication of idle power consumption and ressource wasting.
I see that users reporting problems with their devices NEVER include any kind of debug information. Maybe you should ask for them, just because by searching for this debug information they might solve the problem themselves. Most Android systems and kernels report a LOT of information, that we can access with simple commands such as dmesg.
Last but not least, I would like to thank you, ROM developers and XDA users for allowing me to play this way with my phone, and to make it work exactly the way I want.
Hugo G.,
ummm this device has kangbang?? (btw questions go into q&a )
so i'll move onto the TL;DR which i was grateful for
1) The rom thread should say what kernel but yes, we don't have s-off so flashed manually
2) Ignore rom manager don't touch it
3) think of it as the differences say with debian vs ubuntu vs mint all basically debian but all with they're own differences (pros and cons)
also about the "suggestions" to the devs, that will NEVER go down well, why should YOU suggest to use what to put in the threads also i know in my threads i ASK for logcats time and time again...
hope this helps
if you need more info i'll be welcome to add more, but 1st i need sleep BADLY
