Problem with grooveshark caching songs - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been using grooveshark since i got this phone and recently it has been having some problems. Whenever i have a cached song or an offlined song whenever I try to play a song i get an error reading file message. I have been using grooveshark for a while and this has only started happening recently. The grooveshark people blame it on sprint they say this,
"Your carrier, Sprint, tries to proxy media streams made over cellular connections through their servers. This causes issues with Grooveshark playback, and your songs may refuse to play if caching is enabled."
I know sprint tries to run us through a proxy but i thought that was fixed by changing the proxy port and proxy address to 0 and 0.0.0.0 respectively. I am currently on the stock eg22 leak. Does anybody else have grooveshark and is caching songs working for you? Anybody still on EC05 with grooveshark, is caching still working there? Also, is anybody using skyfire with working videos, didn't those not work when going through a sprint proxy?
I hope there is some way to fix this because caching songs is a big part of what makes the app great.

I have been having this problem too. I was on EF02 I think and it was working perfectly and now that I flashed to EG22 its hardly working at all. When I would go into offline mode it would work great but that doesn't even work anymore. I might have an older grooveshark APK so I'll see if that works.
Here is the older grooveshark APK I had. It's version 2.3.1 but it is working better than the latest release. I cant post links yet but here is the end of the megaupload link

Observing something weird with unrooted OTA updated EVO , youtube and tv.com related

Observing something weird with unrooted OTA updated EVO, youtube and tv.com related. Also with ted mobile. and apparently pandora.
I can only guess from the above they are related in streaming data and require 3G state to be active and not dormant. Doing ##DEBUG# i can see under evdo connection that using the above apps, if it doesn't error out that a video can't be played, it will load, play for 1-2 mins and then stop loading.
I have no issues with 3g and 3g speeds. i average about 700kbps-1.2 mbps down and up. web and apps that use data are normal, just those apps above aren't playing or loading their respective videos.
anyone observed this before or have any insight or pointers? so I know where to dig further. thanks

[Q] Google Music Streaming Problem

Anyone else having issues streaming music via Google Music? I've been using Google Music flawlessly with my Evo 4G for many months now. Just switched to a Samsung Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch and I can't stream from Google Music anymore.
I can sync to my account and view all my uploaded songs, but when I hit play on anything the green circle appears for a few seconds as if it were buffering, but then just disappears. The song starts downloading however as indicated by the advancing progress bar on the bottom. Once the song is fully downloaded the song will play. But no immediate streaming....
Also, sometimes I get "failed to play requested stream" error.
Same experience via WiFi and 3G connections.
Tried uninstalling/reinstalling the app, clearing data, etc. Also tried current market version of the app, as well as 4.0.1.
Running rooted Starburst ROM v1.8.
I think it has something to do with Starburst, I've been having the same issues since I installed the ROM. Try messaging Phantom about a fix, he puts a lot of work into Starburst and would probably be interested in finding a solution.
I also have the same problem, everything was wokring fine, after i updated to CM7.1 also I update to Music 4.0 on my Nexus S streaming is not working anymore.
I tried reverting back to Music 3.0 but still had the same problem.

Bluetooth audio streaming isue

I hope someone can help.. I have been able to use my EVO 4g WITH MIKROM 2.6.1 (Android 2.3.3) just fine to stream music from PANDORA or any other app to my car's bluetooth. Today, it isnt working and I cant figure out why. it will start to play music and then drop the streaming connection. I have good signal so I dont think that is the case. I can however, make and receive calls ofer bluetooth and also play my visual voicemail over bluetooth, However, if I turn off bluetooth, I can play the same app over the phones speaker just fine and it doesnt stop playing. one one app, I can even see that when connected to bluetooth and then trying to play music, it will stop the program (you have to press play on the app again).
any ideas??
Thanks ...
try doing a full reset of the phone by pulling the battery for a few minutes, then try restarting it.
if you installed any new apps try getting rid of them and trying again,
if all elses fails wipe cache's and reflash!
Goodluck! and remember there is always the 3.5 mm jack you can use!
here is some info I found. Its not specifically related to the EVO but it appears 2.3.3 has issues with A2DP streaming music....
Edit: Take a look at this http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=15189 I know this isnt specific to the EVO but it might be a 2.3.3 issue.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dro...h-audio-3.html This is another post about it although, again, not specifically about our phone.
anyone have a fix? I'm on a custom ROM (MIKROM 2.61) with android 2.3.3 so I bet I have the issue.
For some reason its working right again.

[Q] Issues with [AOSP] Jellybean RC3

I recently flashed the Jellybean RC3 rom and noticed some issues.
Chrome causes my phone to do an automatic restart and I can't find a way around it.
It tends to lag in terms of responding to clicks or movements.
And the big issue for me is that the Play Music app (Google) continues telling me "Music temporarily unavailable Couldn't play the stream you requested." Before I flashed this rom, I had no issues using the app and now I continue to receive these errors.
Does anyone know what could be causing these issues and how to fix them?
Update: I just tried with the Tiny CM10 and it is the same issue.
It worked fine before flashing to these roms. Any idea why that would be?
This is a known bug launching chrome from the dock. Either launch it from your desktop, or another workaround apparently is to put it in a folder in the dock.
I had RC3 for a while, then switch over to CM10. Everything seemed to be a lot more stable, but Chrome also does weird stuff on CM10 as well. Never could get it to work normally on my DINC

I don't like chrome even on the galaxy nexus. Slower and buggy to me. I used to but stock is better.

Chrome wouldn't even start on my Incredible with the RC3 ROM. I would advise using the stock browser until Albinoman works out all the kinks (although the work he's done so far is awesome!). I've also had connection errors before, primarily in the Play Store, retrying a few times seems to work. I always use Wi-Fi and haven't tried cellular data so I can't help you there if you're using 3G to stream.

Maybe something to do with your Android ID changing when flashing these newer ROMs? Though that usually shows itself in problems downloading stuff from the Play Store... but you may need to clear data on the Google Music app, also maybe clearing data on the Play Store may help too.

The main reason I dislike Chrome is because of the space it takes up. It eats up over 30Mb of app data, which on our Dincs is stored in the 150Mb datadata partition. So if you have a reasonable number of apps installed, it's very likely that Chrome will fail to install properly due to there not being enough space to install its data, and it will fail complaining that "your phone lacks functionality critical for running Chrome." In reality, the problem is that Chrome is just too bloated to fit on the limited partitions in our dincs.
(flashing the etx4all nodatalimit mod solves this issue, as does moving all possible apps to the sdcard, but IMHO Chrome is not nearly worth going to all that bother.)

[Q] VUDU Movies and TV APP not working

After installing the App and restarting, uninstalling and reinstalling a few times still not working. I can launch the App just fine browse the collection but once you load your Movie it will launch like it's about to Play but won't. The Vudu Movies and TV screen will show and then will sign me out of the login. Anyone else use this App or have issues.
I didn't know I had an issue until I read this post. I checked it out on my phone, and Video is not playing. It starts loading and the the app restarts.

I have the same issue as well. Usually don't watch movies on my phone but just tried and it doesn't work. Hmm.
Sprint G4.
I contacted VUDU about the issue and this was their reply:
Hello,
*
We are currently experiencing issues with the Lollipop software. It appears that the issue is affecting playback on all devices with this software, due to a clash between the software and our VUDU app. We are actively working on a release that will remedy this bug for our customers.
*
I have done some playing around with the app and noticed that after a few tries, it will eventually work for me. I also noticed, when I un-installed and re-installed the app, I had success with playback the first few tries. Nonetheless, there is an issue with the app that we’re looking to resolve. Just wanted to supply a bit of feedback from my personal experience.
*Vudu support
So, it looks like there's a bug, they're aware of, and working on it. Until a fix is found, playback will be hit and miss.

Ok good to know I have 2 G4 and both have that issue but didn't have another phone with Lollipop software besides them . I'm on Tmobile I haven't forced tried it though. Flixter App works fine though.
my other issue is Netflix now. Phone #1 worked with Wifi calling Phone #2 doesn't after go back and forth between Netflix and Tmobile and did everything we can think of still nothing now Phone #1 doesn't work either with Wifi calling.
It does work with Wifi calling but it has to be set to Cell instead of Wifi Preferred (unless no cell service) option. Which is stupid since it worked before and on my Note 2. Tmobile then tried to say something about the Wifi calling feature demands more data or something and that's why. After Master resetting phone's etc a few times I find the issue to be when you first Log in to Netflix and Google Services wants a update. Since it did work on both after the Master resets but it will force the update on it's own.
I wasn't aware of the lollipop issue with VUDU, but like mentioned by BDestroyer8418, Flixster does work.
I double checked on the Netflix, and that plays fine as well.
As long as I was checking on these, I went ahead and verified HBO Go, Showtime Anytime, EPIX, the CW, and FXNow. All seem to play fine.
I rarely watch any of the services on my phone, since I usually just push to the Chromecast. So, as long as that all works, I will be content (until VUDU comes up with a solution).
LG-VS986
Netflix starts video playback almost immediately on my wifi. So, I don't have an issue there.
I can still use vudu with my phone and chromecast without issue, so at least there's that.

The problem is Tmobile Wifi Calling for Netflix. I'm not not sure if other carriers offer that feature Tmobile has. They add it in Tmobile software on Devices. They might have it but not sure you guy's would know for sure.
For Vudu doesn't seem like it matter's what Carrier your own most likely No unless you can force it work temp til they update it. Since Tmobile, Sprint and Verizon users reported the same Restart Loop.
Sprint has wifi calling, but it doesn't matter if I have it on or not, I have no issues with Netflix. So it may be just isolated to t-mobile.

So after looking around some more I found this http://www.reddit.com/r/LGG3/comments/32kowb/tmobile_lg_g3_lollipop_with_wifi_calling/
Looks like same issue on Tmobile LG G3 on Lollipop with the Netflix problem with Wifi Calling. This is most likely Tmobile problem then ? Something in the Wifi Calling feature.
