[Q]Unrooting Phone S-OFF! - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been searching Xda, Google, and have been working on unrooting this phone for literally 5 hours already and I've done the Hex Editing, then PCI110 or whatever, and everything is stock and OEM except its still on S-OFF.
Very frustrated and I know theres a ton of unrooting questions but I'd love for a quick reply.
Thanks!!!
Edit: Searching Some more, I've come across a thread with all radios, so I want to fastboot this 1.19 radio but I just wanna confirm from anyone.

U have to temp root the stock rom and use gfree to turn s back on. Its all in the vision xda wiki. Guess u were reading some half assed guides or something?

Thank you!
and I used the thread on xda and the unlockr and posts under the xda thread and haven't seen anything about temp rooting.

Or flash an official ruu through pc10img.zip method like I did. Took longer to download the file than it did to return my hboot to pvt ship s-on with an official rom

Don't use a thread. Use the xda vision wiki page. It has the tool for temp rooting there and all the directions to do what I posted

The Q&A Forum is more suited for this.
Thread moved to Q&A.
How about you give us some details about your phone and what you have tried? What software version are you running? Clearly you haven't tried every method because the Evo is rootable.
Unrevoked 3 will work I used it day before yesterday its really easy

Unrooting G2 Question

I have a g2 vision and flashed the dzhboot to run sense 3.0 roms. Now I would like to unroot my phone and was wondering if I have to flash back to vision hboot before starting the process. I have done my homework and found these methods of doing it here is one
http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=/&gl=US#/watch?v=6jOkEJNUKh0
and also have one more way
http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=/&gl=US#/watch?v=9uRp7kcyJcM
But they don't say anything about having to flash a different hboot so do I ?
Thx

I think if you flash the (an) official PCIMG10.zip from the sdcard it writes over everything.
That said, since I used g-free for s-off, when I flash an official PCIMG10 I'm usually left unrooted but with a 'fake' s-off.
I think you mean PC10IMG.zip close enough though lol

Arabic Font on a non-rooted

I've spent the last couple weeks trying to downgrade my phone to Froyo, and Ive had no luck. So I'm giving up for the time being lol. But one of the main reasons I wanted to root my phone intitially is so I can read Arabic.
Is there a way I can install Arabic Fonts on a non-rooted device.
Thanks
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA
You can check @ google play for app to do this, but rooting is to hard, downgrading does have to be done first, the ruu you are trying to install isn't going to work untill you make a goldcard, if you follow a guide how to do this it is very straight forward. There is a great guide in the development thread and a link in the xda wiki to this guide

Thanks. All apps on the market require a rooted device, unfortunately. Is there an alternative rooting method to using command prompt? Cos I cannot use that!

I'm new to this rooting and things....

Anyone to help plz

Superwipe is a good idea so I'm glad your @ least doing this, it may be easier to help if you give more info, is this happening from the very first custom rom, after root? What method did you use to root? Can you write down everything on bootloader screen (mostly want to know ship soff or eng soff) can you name your recovery? Can you name the roms you have tried?
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Glad U're helping me sir. This problem is there from the day I rooted and installed my first rom cyanogen mod 7 Actually mine is ship s- off, I used the wiki.cyanogen g2rooting guide and another one for getting sd card golden. First I used clockwork mod recovery now I'm using the latest in 4ext recovery. Now I'm currently using andromadus mimicry 1.5.0 its working perfectly with many softwares until I restart if I do 'hot reboot' no problem occurs
These are the list of roms I tried and problem starts wen I restart or switch off my mobile and then switch on:
1.andromadus audacity beta5
2.cyanogen mod rc9.0
3.Android_SpeedDaemon_Fantasia_v1.0.0_vision
4. G2slim1.6
5. MikRunny-v1.0-DeOdex-signed
6. RCMix.Energized.7.26.2012.Fixed.Kernel_Ver2
7. Strawmetal-1.Mi.V2.0
8. sensewich1
And many others too
Plz help!
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Well you are best to get true s-off with an engineering spl. I assume you either missed a step in the guide you followed or you went with the official htc unlocked bootloader. Either way you can fix this, and I suggest you do
Pretty much you need to relock the bootloader, then downgrade, reroot and flash the eng hboot along with everything else.
The best guides to follow to root and soff are
Cyanogen wiki
Xda wiki
Strawmetals pdf guide.
You can google search these easy or if I get a minute then ill link you. But first you need to relock your bootloader
I believe it is something like
Fastboot oem lock bootloader
I can't recall of hand but nipqer has a guide on this
If I get some time ill get you links, but for now just search a bit and read up, good luck!

Thank u Sir will tell u....
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Sir Plz get niqper bootloader unlock guide link
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Sir can I use this for re locking bootloader?
www.htcdev.com/bootloader
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Just boot into fastboot mode
Type fastboot devices, if you see yours then proceed
fastboot oem lock
Now do
fastboot reboot-bootloader
This should bring you back to hboot, if it says ship s-on then your good and you can proceed to root and gain true s-off
If you continue to have trouble log onto freenode irc #g2root, just google it if you can't find it, there is a link in the xda wiki for rooting the vision

I'm new to all these things Sir... So I'll take time to do all these... So plz help me till d last sir

if you haven't actually changed hboot you are still on stock hboot, leave it. (you're just s-off with stock hboot partition layout, i'm wondering whether you understand what the hboots are? try here, recommend reading all the guides there)
s-off allows you to change hboot to use space more efficiently, and modify system partition while it's running. it's also much more useful to be s-off just in case things go wrong i.e. easier to fix.
(if you really want to go back s-on, you'll have to flash RUU, look at bortak's guide stickied to the top of Q&A, but i don't recommend it, not much point...)
No its just that I read somewhere that S-OFF can be dangerous and could brick your phone!!

Thank you that was very helpful......I think I will leave my phone at S-Off.

Don't worry too much about it, you probably read someone who didn't follow instructions.
The actual s-off procedure can be dangerous, but most likely to happen during the process itself
You are already successfully s-off so relax!
