So I sent my desire off as the rebooting is uncontrollable now (really didnt want to be without a phone so kept putting off sending it in for repair) and although extremely quick, the repair they have done is replace the antenna???
Anyone sent their phone off due to the reboot and thats the repair they done? I havent got the phone back yet its coming tomorrow hopefully but how is this going to fix the rebooting problem? I thought they had to change motherboard AND antenna?
Anyone had a similar experience? Did they put that as the repair and actually change the motherboard aswell? Did it resolve your issue?
Any help appreciated, dont fancy sitting without a phone AGAIN!!
Thanks
normally when i sent my phone to HTC they always just replaced the mobo.. would've thought they would do the same, but I guess they know better
yeah I thought they just did that too, I'm hoping they have changed it and its a mistake saying replaced antenna, dont fancy being without a phone again!!!

I just got a desire (used) and the screen is sometimes unresponsive. Every few times, if i touch it, the screen like goes left and right and studders up and down and isnt responsive to any touches unless you reset the phone, or turn the screen off and on a few times.
Then i try to press something, it do another thing and etc. Also phone is heating alot and i think something is wrong.. or maybe i should try to reinstall fw?
Anyone...?
Mine does this screen thing on some rare occasions, the only solution is a reboot.

For me its very often. Im just curious what might.be causing this problem. Can it be hardware or software...
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Sounds like a hardware fault.
I don't know if you have warranty since you got the phone second hand, but if you have, you better send it.
You can of course do a hard reset first, just to be sure it's a hardware issue.
settings>sd&phone storage>factory data reset
I have already done hard reset when i bought it..but its the same. So i dont have warranty.what hardware part might be causing this?cause maybe i could still repair it?

Better send it in. It's extremely difficult to replace components on the desire. Even service people do a crappy job of it sometimes.

i have installed cyanogen rom and nothing changed...so it's definetly hardware And the problem i think is with motherboard, so i need to get changed it. I will try to look for repair store in my city to ask them if they will be able to fix it and i hope it wont cost me same price that i bought this used phone
Thanks guys for trying to help me.
Hi all,
I recently sent my GN (Running 4.0.2 stock, yakju build) back to be repaired because my phones wifi stopped working. what happens is that the phone's wifi seems be stuck "turning on", but never actually does. No wifi icon or anything appears. wifi hotspot doesnt work either. I had my GN from about a week after it was released (I'm in australia so that was about the 22nd December), and around the 15th January is stopped working. This issue cannot be fixed with a reboot, a hard reset, flashing stock roms, toggling airplane mode or anything trivial like that, as I (and others) have tried.
Now i have searched a while on google while i have been without my phone and I'm finding this problem is surfacing for other people too. From what i have seen there seems to be a correlation between 4.0.2 and this issue. Also, it seems to happen some time into the phones life; they do not have this issue when first purchased. I am concerned that this may be a recurring issue which surfaces over time, due to a design flaw or some sort of software issue. If so, this problem will start affecting a lot more people. If anyone who reads this has the same problem, could you please post when it started occuring and what rom, build etc (and anything else which may be helpful) you are running so we can shed a little light on this issue. which many more users i am sure will experience. cheers in advance
just incase anyone actually reads this Galaxy Nexus was sent back, and it was found that the printed ciruit board (PCB) needed replacing. More forums have surfaced since i last checked up on this problem so numbers are slowly rising. Once again, post here if you get the issue, we need numbers

same problem
Hi,
i had the same problem, wifi mac info was not showing anymore on the Nexus. Reboot and factory reset didn't help. Wifi wouldn't come on anymore.
Ask for a replacement, that's the only thing you can do
Can i ask what version of android you guys had? I'm wondering if this is going to be a recurring problem with hardware due to software issues or if it is purely a design flaw (PCB burning out, etc..) Cheers!
I have the same problem which happened last Saturday and it frustrated the hell out of me, i flashed to different versions of OS....didnt help...
restored to factory firmware and didnt backup the pictures and stuff on the phone!! (FML)
and brought it in to Fido on monday to have it serviced....
talking about bad luck...sigh....
they told me the turn around time is 10-15 business days... (N)
will report back once i hear from them
Before the issue happened, did your phone have any other issues? Say heating up while charging or running the WiFi?
I received a device in for repair with this issue and the customer reported it got really hot before the issue started happening. Everything looked fine on the motherboard - the WiFi antennas were intact. Reloading the software did nothing which means it's a hardware issue..
So very strange. I wonder what's causing this.
i remember when my wifi stopped working i was running 4.0.2. I was actually on holidays in Japan at the time and i was wifi hopping quite a lot around the airport (i was walking around and the wifi would go out of range, latch on again... etc) not sure if that had anything to do with it. Hopped on the plane home and i remember i was on airplane mode using an app called colornote. the phone hung pretty hard and i had to pull the battery. rebooted and tried again and after 10 mins, phone crashed again doing the same thing. Got home and the wifi wasnt working. Not sure if any of this had anything to do with it, but maybe. Didnt notice any overheating, but then again i was around snow haha
hi mrmiklepower
just wondering if your phone has been good since you got it back from repair?
i noticed the phone would reboot itself over and over again after i flashed it back to the stock rom. I just called the third party repair shop that my carrier sent the phone to, they told me its still being fixed.
Oh i hope they will return me my phone soon.
My phone is actually still being repaired also. It's been a total of 2 months since i sent if back! they contacted me and all i know so far is that the phones PCD needed replacing. when my phone arrives i will update as soon as i can. should receive it sometime this week, but its not certain. the majority of my ownership of this phone has been me waiting for its return
Holy mother of lord...
I actually called the third party repair shop that my carrier uses to check on the status of the repair. And they told me its actually In quality control which means the problem was fixed and they're just testing it before they send it back to the store where I brought the phone too. Hoping they'll send it in on Monday so I can either pick it up on the day of or the next day.....keeping my fingers crossed.
Will keep you posted on the status of it too.
Sigh
Ok I got my phone back today.
on the reference sheet I got from the repair shop
it states REPLACED PBA, BGA Failure
I looked it up online and PBA means Printed Board Assembly
which probably means the motherboard was defective and had to be replaced.
and now the phone is working fine. So i guess when this phone was made, there were some flaws with the motherboard on it, thus causing this problem.
Anyways, I hope this information helps with others who experience the same problem
Thanks for letting us know! O got mine back today with the same thing. So looks like there is no way of fixing besides sending it back. Good luck to anyone else who gets this problem

So it seems there's no fix for this?
I've been doing some research and it doesn't seem anyone can fix this.. I tried reflashing, wiping every possible thing, etc.. even flashing the stock software via odin. Still no luck.. It seems that we are indeed stuck with sending it back in for a supposedly defective part which seriously blows.
My other question is.. you guys who already received your phones back, did anyone end up with the problem again?
PLEASE if anyone knows how to fix this.. chime in!!!
I had an issue similar to that with my transformer and to fix it I just flash a new kernel im not sure itwill fix the problem for you but it's worth a try

Since getting my phone back the problem has not occurred again. I don't think there is anything that can be done as a component needed to be changed apparently. Good luck :/

Thanks, when returning to stock it flashes a new kernel. Also tried it again for the hell of it with faux's kernel, still no luck .
This sucks! This very same thing happened to me yesterday! I Odined back to stock.. no luck! Now after finding this thread, it looks like a hardware issue! That blows! I'll have to give Sprint a call tomorrow!
Hmm sucks to hear it's still cropping up around the place, I heard someone say this issue entered quality control. But anyway, if it helps I've had my phone back for about a month and a bit and its still going strong. hopefully it doesn't happen again though. good luck, hopefully it won't take too long for your phone to come back!
Hi,
I'm with Telus in Canada and had the exact same problem and had my GN repaired. It took only 2 weeks and I just got my unit back. I had already read a lot online about this issue so I asked the Telus rep to tell me what the issue was. She told me that the report states that the board was replaced. This is definitely a hardware problem. I'm hoping that the new board doesn't have this problem and my phone won't need to be repaired again,
I run 4.0.1 on my phone. Telus hasn't released an update yet. I was going to update mine by switching to yakju, but that's when I noticed that the wifi is not working and I thought it's not a good idea to change the stock ROM.
Here's the problem around the second week of this month my boyfriend's Acer a100 bricked itself. When you turn it on it gets stuck on the Acer logo and will not go any further. I called Acer to try and see if they could help me but they stated that it was a hardware issue and to send it in to be repaired; however, there is some major damage done to the screen. It is crack very bad but it is still usable. I'm wondering is there anyone that can give me some advice on how to fix it or what to do to get it where it can be used again. Another thing is I'm thinking that because of the damage done to the device that it voids the warranty, does anyone know if I am right? oh yeah his device is not rooted.
My device had the same problem one day. i messed around with some things to try to fix it and just made things worse , when i talked to acer it seemed as if it was a common thing because in a matter of mintues i was getting the details of where to ship it to be repaired. To my understanding the cracked screen shouldnt be a problem since they would be replacing the motherboard(i believe) and the screen will come back the same way you sent it to them.

I think thats what he's gon have to do because I have clue what else he should do. I wanna call back and ask them will the damage effect the warranty but I'm to nervous they will actually say yes.
Send it to them and if they call you then you accuse them of breaking it...problem solved lol

I was listening to a podcast and out of nowhere my phone turned off. I tried to turn it back on, but it keeps getting stuck on the LG start up screen (almost like a bootloop). I manged to get it to turn on once and it turned itself off after a couple of minutes. I tried taking the battery out, but that didn't help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I looked into it more and found out it happens to a lot of people. Im going to try to get a replacement phone.
I have a question about the warranty though. Apparently they may not fix the phone if there is physical damage to it (because they cant tell if its your fault it broke). My screen has around 5 cracks on it. Has anyone tried to get lg to replace/fix your phone with physical damage to it? If so how did it go?
Just try it. Worst case is they send it back
If you are lucky the bootloop gets fixed and they ask your if you want to get the screen replaced for some $$. (Don't know the real numbers but frontscreen should be around 50$)
And don't listen to the service staff. The repair team from LG decides if your phone is getting repaired.
Most common mistake by too much people.
I had the same problem with my Lg G4. I took it to AT&T Service Center and they wanted to replace it. However, I have important stuff saved on the phone. Do you think they can download or recover the data? Is it possible to do? I would think they know how, but just wondering if anyone knows for sure.

If you saved it to the sd card then you are fine. If not you can ask them if they can. I'm not sure if they would be able to or not
Hi All,

not yet brother. I'm really disappointed with this issue Is this happened to you after update to Android O? What did you try?
I don't know the fix for this. I just kept my phone is my drawer for a few months and when I took it out, it was fixed.
Although I did note 1 thing - The display had started to show white noise as soon as it became hot. I had to keep it on a cold plate to make it normal again. The only thing I can recommend is putting it in fridge or something and then turning it on. Listen to me at your own risk. I ain't no mobile fixer, but just a random guy.

That's literally the biggest no-no with electronics.
When you can't repair something on your own, you would usually seek out a person who can and, eventually, pay for the repair. You do not ask for possible solutions which you would probably not be able to perform on your own.

This certain advice is being given everywhere. (Even I'm a bit skeptical on this). On that repair thing- I literally asked every single repair guy in my local city and not a single one could fix it. This nexus had just become my tinkering toy so I had nothing to lose. If anyone still has the value for it, please take it to your repair guy.
I think this is the same issue that I have. I talked to Larry from India at Google. He had the same issue with his phone and LG was fixing the issue for his phone. He said it was a connector from the board to the screen.
So he hooked me up with LG. I talked to Holly and she sent me an label and repair under warr. They extended their normal warranty. LG previously fixed the bootloader issue by replacing the motherboard, so this issue may have been caused when they fixed the phone. May want to try contacting LG, see if it helps.
Hi, i have the same issue on my Nexus 5x. did you find any solution?
This is the second time happened to my Nexus 5X. but it fixed with no reason after about 3-4 days i put into drawer.
then this happen again since last night.
Did you try to clear the delvik cache or something via recovery mode?
sorry for bad english
