[Q] Evo Rom with Trickle Charge? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i was wondering which htc evo roms come with or support SBC kernels or trickle charge?

Well none of the 2.3 roms can as of yet, as there is no sbc kernal for 2.3 yet. Pretty much any 2.2 rom with the right sbc kernal will work though.

Kernels DINC

I'm brand new to the HTC Incredible and I was wondering which kernels should be used. I like stock right now (I've looked through a few ROMs and I don't see anything I like yet) but I do want a kernel with wireless tethering (2.2).

The stock kernel supports wireless tether. If you're rooted just check this out -

As far as ROMs, you're selling yourself short not trying some out. I highly recomend Skyraider, I've tried many and I always end up back here.
I love stock sense 2.2. I use the leaked version.
I have added features which were important to me by studying kernels. I chose hydrakernel undervolted v0.5.
My battery life it's awesome without screwing around with task killers.
Kings kernels sound great too.
I really enjoy virtuous and im about to try his new kernel but i use Kings kernel BFS #5 usually

[Q] Uncapped kernel for EVO?

I`m wondering if there is an uncapped kernel that will work with the stock sense rom? If not,can anyone recommend a rom with one built in? I like the stock sense and dont really wanna change it up too much, but i`d also love to oc it! I`m rooted with Unrevoked3 and have setcpu ready to go....any suggestions are always greatly appreciated
Uncapped? As in FPS uncapped? ALL kernels have been uncapped for months, including stock HTC kernels.
I don't really see the benefit of overclocking, but I recommend checking out Netarchy's kernels:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=719763
+1 on netarchy kernels. if you couple it with his burnt droid rom youll be blazin man recommend his 4.2.1 cfs no sbc kernel
Installed netarchys kernel,overclocked to 1113mhz,ran quadrant=1340!! Woohoo!!
My EVO is now "THE SH*T"!!!

SBC

can someone tell me what sbc is in evo kernels?
I believe it is trickle charging. There could be more to it. It stops your battery from going from 100% to 90% right when you take it off the charger. I have been using it for months now. I like it.
Oh ok.... What is the current version?
Or should I say which one you recommend with sense rom
I really waffled away from SBC for a long time because there was some anecdotal evidence that it was bad for your battery. I started using an SBC kernel first with savaged-zen and now I use tiamat. I seem to have better results with tiamat but Im on cm7, not sense. I agree, I don't care what anyone says, I like the SBC kernel. My battery life is SICK now compared to before. I get 12 hours plus of medium to heavy use.
Does tiamat have true sbc now?

check out this GUIDE it can help you decide....
on picking one of the NET kernels
theres others but from what i see theyre the most widely used for sense.
i use 4.3.2 cfs sbc havs less- works. good battery try a few out, but remember to cycle a few full charges before making a judgement.

Currently using Mikfroyo 4.5 need help on a kernel

was running fresh 3.5.0.1 and now have flashed Mikfroyo 4.5 which is a heck of a lot faster, has more pizzazz with it. I am noticing worse battery life though. I have never had any expeience flashing any kind of kernels at all but from what I have read they control the power flow between the phone and the battery. What are some kernels I should try to get better battery life. The stock kernel is ok...Fast but drains faster then the stock kernel on fresh 3.5.0.1...I know this has been asked probably more than what is the best rom whether it's AOSP or sense but I need help. thanks in advance
You can only run sense kernels on sense roms and vice versa. I'd recommend one of netarchys sense kernels. If you want a good explanation of types or kernels and how they work this link is your best friend.

This is my recommendation to use with mikfroyo and any other sense roms. Its the 4.3.4 netarchy CFS havs less sbc. You don't have to use it but I've experienced the best overall performance with this one. Not everyones phone will react the same with each kernel. You have to test different ones and find which one your phone likes. I usually test a kernel for about 2 days myself. You would flash a kernel the same way you do a rom.
The kernel I suggested.

Awesome thank you for that guide. It's great for someone like me who is new to kernels. I will have to play with them and try to find a good one to use with Fresh/Mikfroyo

Yeah that guide is pretty handy. Hope you find a good kernel. There isn't much dev'ing going for 2.2 froyo sense kernels as most of the devs are just waiting for the official 2.3 gingerbread sense to release. You wont find many different sense kernels floating around as you would for aosp roms but hit up that netarchy thread I was talking about and do some browsing!

[Q] most energy efficient rom for rooted evo 4g?

Ok so I'm currently running cm7 on my newly rooted HTC evo 4g. I was wondering if there are Roms that run as smoothly as cm7 and which roms have the most energy efficient os ?
Well most energy efficient would have to be myns warm 2.2.
World peace with no regard for human life.
i love cm7 and if you couple that with tiamat, you will get the best battery life. i can easily get 18-35 hrs easily. unfortunately, there is no kernel for gingerbread on sense yet. so looks like you would have to go with any froyo roms or any aosp roms, since they have plenty of custom kernels for you to choose from.
Mik roms. Froyo. G. Z.
Or warm 2.2.

thanks guys
I'm now running the new cm7.1 coupled with the tiamat kernel so my android is now up to 2.3.4 and I'm running the smartass CPU governer and its working amazingly. Very smooth and very efficient. Tommy I also tried your Rosie mod for unrooted phones before I got my replacement and dude that's a great idea for those who don't want to root for whatever their reason. Keep working on those bro. I need to take some programming classes and whatnot so I can learn to write my own mods. As well I've got a couple of ideas but i don't exactly know how to do it lol take care guys and thanks for the help
Decks is very energy efficient once you flash a custom kernel. Decks is cm7 just stripped down. I have my EVO running tiamat 4.0.5 overclocked to 1228 and underclocked to 128 while utilizing the performance governor. Smartass governor saves more power, but my extended battery can handle it. SV kernels are very good as well. SBC helps out a lot.
It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.
