I currently have a hard silicone back cover case on my phone but it becomes extremely slippery if I don't continuously wash it.
The back is completely smooth and I am terrified of dropping it.
I need to find a case that actually has a texture or some form of grip and keeping it under $20.
Otterbox Impact Case looks awesome, but I haven't found any good feedback on if its made from silicone that looses grip and goes slippery.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.
Amzer jelly case. Lots of colors, terrific feel, padded corners, textured grip area, good lens protection, and so cheap on eBay you can get them for less than burgers. And if you're someone who swaps out batteries, or has a car or desk dock that wants a naked phone, they're easily removable.
Thank you for the reply.
I've had silicone cases that would lift up when ever you would slide to one side or the other.
How are the edges on the sides of the screen?
Also, anyone know how the otterbox impact cars are?
Sent from my HTC Evo via the XDA app.
The Amzer just barely wraps over the sides of front face of the screen, maybe 3/32". The bottom comes up about an eighth, and the top is cut out to clear the light sensor, speaker and front camera. I've not had issues at the edges, but I can't say if that's how I use it.
I don't think the Otterbox is in anyone's hands yet.

Alright, thanks for the info.
I am terrified of the sides being lose enough for anything to slide between them and my phone and cause my phone some damage.
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUT8179c2lc - at ~1:20 you an see the sides of this case being crazy loose)
I was hoping someone that had an otterbox impact on a similar phone would have a comment on if the cases texture or fit was an issue.
Thanks again.

The Amzer isn't as thin. I've not had the pull-away issues, but then, I won't carry a glass phone in a pants pocket, either. I usually carry mine in my shirt pocket.

Looks like they're going for about eight bucks on eBay, including shipping.
Hi again,
I added grip tape (left over from a skateboard deck) to my current case...lol.
It serves its purpose very well, but looks awful.
I have a chance to get the Platinum Case (Best Buy) for $10.
Anyone have any comments on this one?
Does it go slippery or feel like it could slip out of your hands?
EDIT: I just bought the case. I read some good reviews on it... guess I'll see once it arrives.
Received my SGP Ultra Silke case in Soul Black for the Galaxy S II (SHW-M250S)(SHW-M250K)(GT-i9100) today. Thought I'd do a little review.
Where is it from?
Designed in California, made in Korea.
Where can I buy it?
eBay has a few sellers selling it. That's where I got mine.
Retail price?
I think MSRP is $19.99 excl. shipping. eBay prices are about the same.
Shipping?
Ordered it Monday May 30th and got it today (Tuesday June 7th). Not too bad. It was shipped directly from Korea.
What's in the box?
1x SGP Case Ultra Silke
1x Steinheil Ultra Crystal screen protector
1x Microfibre cleaning cloth
Gifts?
This wasn't mentioned in the description or anything but I got two extra screen protectors (in addition to the Steinheil one in the box). Some Korean brand (Phone Mirror) I've never heard of. It's for the SHW-M250S/K but looks like it should fit fine on my i9100. No holes for the FF cam or sensors though. Just cutouts for the earpiece and home button.
Packaging?
It arrived in a little padded mailer. Nothing special.
Box itself is a clear plastic box, with a black matte plastic base. There's a sticker covering the bottom bit telling you what type of case, what color and what phone it's for. It wraps around the side (where it tells you there's an included Steinheil SP) and ends at the base, where there's a barcode. There's also a SGP hologram on the top right corner.
The clear bit is just taped to the matte base. It lifts off to reveal the case.
Under that there's a paper insert with the serial number and under that is the SP and the microfibre cloth.
Case?
The case itself is a silicon case. Nothing like the average cheapo silicon cases though... It feels sorta satin-matte-y. Very flexible too.
See, it's actually a silicon case coated with a polymer coating which should prevent dust and other particles from sticking to it and makes it easier to slip in and out of a pocket.
The 'easier to slip in/out of a pocket' is true- it's actually quite slippery. If you're looking for a case to improve grip on the phone (clumsy?) then this isn't the case you're looking for.
It also does sorta prevent dust from sticking on the case. I think you have to break it in or something like that first- it got dust stuck to it like crazy (seemingly out of thin air) for the first few hours but it's just fine now.
The cutouts are absolutely perfect. Both mic holes match up perfectly (and since they're both just little pinpricks, not huge craters, that's pretty impressive). Speaker hole matches up perfectly. There's even a little bit of silicon sticking out on the sides of the hole to indicate where the first speaker hole ends and where the second hole starts.
Headphone jack matches up just as perfectly. Maybe a bit too perfect- a generic aux cable wouldn't fit due to the huge amount of plastic surrounding the jack (it would only go 3/4 in). A cable with a slimmer plastic surround worked though. Most headphone cables should work fine.
The strap hole is perfectly cut out too.
There is no gap around the camera hole. Yes, the cover does touch the table before the camera lens, so no worries there.
The microUSB port hole is fine obviously.
Unfortunately, there is a cutout on the top right corner for the Korean-spec DMB TV tuner. Possibly a weak spot. But then again, this case was was advertised for and designed for the SHW-M250S/K so that's to be expected. I wonder if they'll release a US/UK-spec version?
On the front there is a pretty thick lip so no worries about placing the phone face down.
The power and volume buttons aren't cut-outs, the plastic cover acts as a button extender. They work fine. Not harder to push than without the case or anything.
Swiping your finger against the side and bottom does cause the silicon to move since it's not a rigid material. Potentially irritating to some. Dust might also get in that way?
SGP labelling on case?
One nitpick many people have with cases is that many companies slap a hugeass logo or text self-advertising the case company.
On this case, there's (from top to bottom) the SGP logo, 'SGP CASE' and ' ULTRA SILKE' on the bottom. Small text and very minimalistic. It's just above the reverse chin on the back. Not loud or anything.
Take the case off and you'll find a whole bunch of text telling you what brand & type of case it is, where it was designed, where it was made, and what type of phone it's for.
Steinheil Ultra Crystal Screen Protector?
They advertise it to be 25% thicker than normal protectors for additional anti-scratch/scuff protection. It's also (apparently) 'anti-UV' and fingerprints should be wiped away easily. I don't think it's oleophobic though.
Application is the usual 2-step 'remove the first bit, stick it on, then remove the protective top layer' method. As previously mentioned, there is a provided microfibre cleaning cloth. No squeegee though.
It does seem to be thicker than my generic protector I already have applied. No cutouts for the FF cam or sensors either- only cutouts are for the earpiece and home button.
No camera protector provided unlike with some other SGP products.
[above this is just based on a general observation- haven't applied the SP yet- probably won't till I scratch my current protector into oblivion first]

I was wating for somthing like this.. still trying to decide between this one to the Ultra capsule..
nice review. is it bulky? attract dust?
Does your case have a slight bulge on the volume rocker and top part of the phone, mine one isn't straight. If you hold up the edge of an A4 piece of paper you can see they're not parallel, just wondering if there's an issue with my case. I've got the UK model.
I bought this as well from Korea
Still waiting for the SII to launch in my country
From the pictures it seems to have quite a bit of dust sticking on the case even though you said it does not attract dust... Hmmmmm......

Doesn't add much thickness or weight to the phone.
As mentioned in the OP it does attract dust directly OOTB but after using it for a bit it becomes bearable.

I wish you hadn't mentioned that... now all I see are the slight bulges on the sides... Yes I have that issue too, but it's very slight.

Pictures were taken immediately after taking it out of the box. It's better now, and when dust does stick, a quick brush with a finger solves it.
thanks for the review, i have SGP Oleophobic screen protector coming soon. So let us know how the SGP Ultra fairs
Sure, like I said, I'll apply it if I trash my current protector. I'll be sure to update this thread when I do that.
Let us know how the oleophobic protector is too, hm?
You sure the screen protector is sgp? Cause mine looks way different to yours and i got mine sent from seoul from my sister in law.
The clear film under the microfibre cleaning cloth in the 2nd image is the SGP Ultra Crystal protector provided with the Ultra Silke case.
The 2 'Phone Mirror/High Quality' protectors in the 3rd picture were a 'free gift' from the seller. Those are generic Korean protectors, not SGP.
If you rip open one of those packages you have it should look similar to what's in the 2nd picture.
Just wanted to add that the microUSB cutout in this case is large enough to fit the DealExtreme USB OTG cables.
Also dust barely sticks on to it now. Only major issue is the TV antenna cutout in the top right- I can see myself dropping the phone and having that corner hit the floor (yeah I'm unlucky like that).
I have the gloss version of this case and I can very highly recommend it. I had the 'casemate - barely there' case, but sent it back cause this was £1 more and much much better.
Comparing the two i'd say that the SGP is marginally thicker, but is still by no means a thick case and can be considered a slim case. As OP mentioned case has a lip that extends over the front of the phone, which i'd imagine would give some (though limited) protected against being dropped face down. The casemate didn't have this. The cut-outs are perfect except for that troublesome TV tuner corner, but you'd have to drop your phone at a very exact angle in order to do any damage. Whereas the cutouts on the barely there .. well.. they were so large they exposed massive regions of the phone.
Also the case is made out of a hard rubber type material. I've had a cheap silicon case from eBay, and this is nothing like that. Much slimmer and the material is much harder. It feels like its built to perfectly absorb shock. The casemate was hard plastic, i'd image that would give absolutely minimum shock protection if the phone was dropped.
I haven't had the dust attraction problem that OP had, but the gloss case gets covered in fingerprint marks really easily. A quick wipe with the t-shirt sorts this out though.
Not sure what else to say. Oh, the gloss effect is 'enhanced' by having a bit of glitter on the case. Its like darkish glitter and subtle, but non-the-less my case is covered in glitter. As a man I feel slightly uncomfortable with having a phone covered in glitter. I really wanted the gloss case, but if i'd know if was all glittery I probably would have gone for the matt. Its not enough of a concern for me to send it back though, just a thought for people wanting to buy the gloss case. You can kind of see in this picture, though it just looks like dust - it is in fact sparkly glitter:
In terms of the screen protector that came with the case. Nothing new to report. I received the Stienheil Ultra screen protectors and a little microfibre cloth. I'd say the surface is slightly less slippery and hold finger prints slightly more, but is worth it for the protection.
The cutouts were perfect and cover the whole of the screen surface except for the speaker and the middle button. The front camera is covered, but I haven't noticed and picture quality difference. There is a 1mm margin uncovered margin around the face.
Thats all I can say. Pretty much do not buy the 'casemate barely there' because for £1 (eBay prices anyway) and the tiniest margin of thickness more you get a much higher quality and much safer feeling case that comes with high quality screen protectors.
Great thread. I just can't understand why the cutout is there on the corner. You would think they would want to make two versions given the international market for this mobile.

The glitter is one of the reasons I chose the silke over the capsule.
The dust problem is no longer noticeable and even when dust does get stuck to it a quick brush with a sleeve or something. Can't say the same for the inside though- seems to be more rubbery than the exterior.
I eventually stuck some tape over the top right corner to cover up the TV tuner hole. Might help just in case, idk.
Nice review, and makes me glad I chose the silke

Well to be fair the guy I bought it from is from Korea, and the box clearly states for Korean SGSIIs, so can't blame em too much Would be nice if they made an 'international' version though, yes.
Bought an Ultra Slike and loving it. Had one of those cheaper cases but this one looks better. Unfortunate though for the cutout, could have been so much nicer without it
It does look sleek doesn't it?
Makes my s-curve case look bulky and ugly in comparison (and I thought that looked good when I bought it, hah).
It's a bit slippery though. Is the inside of the case more rubbery/grippy than the outside on yours?
Haha it does and it fits nicely. True about the slipperiness but I can live with it. Just have to be careful
I have the Ultra Silke and its a nice case.
Does anyone else have a problem with the SGP screen protector lifting slightly beneath the home key?
I think the rubber lip is catching it as I take it in and out of my pocket.
Might just go for a more rigid case, possibly the SGP capsule and see how that goes

I don't have this problem and I take my phone in and out my pocket too.
Sorry, no picture until I get home.
I ordered the Neo Hybrid case and received it along with my Nexus 5 yesterday.
The case comes in two pieces. The TPM shell and the outer, hard plastic bumper/trim. The cutouts are clean and accurate. The cutout around the camera and flash are perfect, and I now don't need to worry about the camera being scratched since it protrudes from the phone slightly. The cutouts around the speakers and the top microphone are open. There is enough space left around the headphone and USB ports that you shouldn't need to worry about something not fitting.
The fit is very tight. Tight enough that I was a little worried about breaking the case when putting it on. Now that it's on, I don't worry about it popping off.
The buttons are hard, metalized. plastic instead of TPM. They are clicky. Of course, the tolerances aren't tight and there's a little play side-to-side, but you won't notice without looking for it.
Not sure how much protection it will give from a long fall, and I'm not going to test it. It doesn't feel as "soft" as some TPM cases, but I have confidence it will take plenty of abuse. Besides, overly soft TPM feels "cheap" to me. Once my Spigen screen protector arrives, I will never worry about a scratch
I'll post some pictures tonight. Feel free to post questions.
I think you could have added to this thread instead of making a new one for the same case.

Amazon.com: RINGKE FUSION® Google Nexus 5 Case Bumper [BLACK] The Best Selling Shock Absorption Bumper + Anti Scratch Clear Back Panel + Design It Yourself Premium Hybrid Hard Case [Eco/DIY Package] for Google Nexus 5
I just got this case in today and so far I really like it. It is a slim case with a clear back, be sure to remove the plastic covers on both the back and front of the clear back. The fitment is great, there is cut outs for the usb, speaker/mic and headphone jack. The cut outs alignment is perfect. The back is crystal clear and I can see my white Nexus really well. This case also comes with a hard plastic template that you can use to make cut outs and place inside the case to give you a custom look. I don't think I will be making my own cut outs just now because I'm enjoying the white Nexus logo. The power and volume buttons are flush with the case and depress nicely. The buttons are not ultra sensitive like some cases, they have a nice pressure to them.
Packaging
Speaker/mic and USB port cutouts
Headphone jack and volume buttons
Side profile, the case does not add very much bulk at all
Fitment is spot on
Crystal clear back
Looking at the audio port and usb area cutout, can you see a gap between the phone and the case there? I just noticed the Spigen Ultra Hybrid has a gap where dust can get in...

Yes there is a small gap around the back side of the audio jack. There is a even smaller gap on the backside of the USB port. I wonder how this will effect the case over time?

Got one and I'm not a fan so far. The part where the side of the case meets the raised lip to protect the screen (lay on face design) has a REALLY sharp edge to it all around the perimeter. I don't know if it is just leftover material from the mold (flash) or what. Have you noticed the same on your case?
I know a few folks on Amazon have mentioned it in the reviews. Do you have the same issue?
I emailed Ringke yesterday but I haven't heard back. I really like the case except that it is just so uncomfortable to hold with that sharp edge as it is now.

I don't have the same issue on mine. It has a nice beveled edge on it, not sharp at all.
This case has been working out nice for me. I'm not going to use my Spigen Slim Armor any more, it's just too bulky for my taste.

My Ringke Fusion case has come in, so I've taken the liberty to create a rough template for anyone who wants to open a photo editor program like photoship or paint.net to fit their image before cutting it out. This might be a fraction of a milimeter off but I placed the clear cut out on my monitor and cropped it as tight as I could from what I saw on screen.
** Note my image is square, use it to create the general shape of your image and the included template to trace inside of it before cutting it out
Grab the png picture below -- is flat w/ colors but can create layers by color select in any respectable photo editor. I'm uncertain of the placement of the nexus logo but tried to center it on the back and crop a photo i had to fit (?)

Yes, It works great with the Nokia DT-900
Amazon.com: Nokia DT-900 Wireless Charging Plate - Retail Packaging - Black
Just got received it in the mail today and it is a really nice case. It's thinner than I expected, as the one for the N4 felt a lot thicker. The buttons work flawlessly and the case fits very firmly to the device. I plan to play around with the template for custom covers later today. I prefer this case over the Spigen case because of the buttons mimic the actual phone versus the block buttons. The Ringke Fusion case is a definite buy...
Got the Ringke Fusion since yesterday.
I can compare the Spigen Ultra hybrid und the Fusion, as I have them both.
Pros:
Fits good, the cut outs are perfect. It's slimmer than the Ultra.
The buttons can be used like on the naked N5, same feedback, not that sharp edges though (better imo).
The material of the Fusion feels a bit smoother than that of the Ultra, the front edges are a little bit sharper.
The clear back seems to be a bit harder and more scratch resistant (until now).
Cons:
The Fusion fixes not the rattling power button.
The quality seems not that good, there are some spots, which seem to be bad glued (or whatever treated) between the bumper and the back.
The N5 feels not that good protected like in the Spigen (which is softer and bulkier).
Conclusion:
I like the Fusion more than the Ultra because of the buttons and its slimness.

AGREED! The Spigen is not as nice in hand, it is a slightly harder composite. I also like the buttons on the Ringke version better. It is hard to find the buttons on the Spigen, since they are flush. I also like the slight back curvature of the Ringke better, whereas the Spigen is flat.
I will however say that if debugging is on, the Ringke activates the power button bug capture feature much more often than the Spigen. In all however, I choose the Ringke over the Spigen.

Thanks for the comparison. Would there by any way you could take similarly positioned photos of each of the cases? Is the black rim around transparent window on the back of the case comparable in size between the two? In other words is the window larger on one or the other?

If the Ringke is slightly curved, can you rock it back and forth when placed on a flat surface?

No, the clear back isn't curved, the black bumper is beveled where it meets the clear back. It's actually a really nice and smooth join if two different materials. Additionally, there are little nubs or feet at the corners, so when you lay it face-up on a surface, the clear back doesn't touch.
Over all, the build quality is very impressive, the cut outs are perfect, and the buttons feel just like a naked phone, except for a gentle rebound, which feels like an improvement.

Wonder how wide the audio jack hole is?
I have audiotechnica m50's and the 3.5mm jack is a wider design one. I have the Spigen Ultra and it's way too small to accommodate the headphone jack.
It's the one on the left: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8200/8218246616_5ae52c9b98_b.jpg (1/8 of an inch)
I am searching for the case for my Arc/S which does not have any sharp edges because those sharp edges becomes the reason for the chrome strips to peel off!!!
I tried Hard Shell Case but it has edges which will peel off those strips & i don't want to let it happen as this a 2nd housing for the phone?
So anyone know any Rubber Case with smooth/blund edges which does not effect on the housing?

hey you can try a silicon case cover by amzer. i am using one since more than a year now. Search Amzer silicone cover for arc/ arc s on ebay or flipkart.
Great cover, made for rough use
Pros: Doesn't add much weight to the phone
Looks pretty cool
Perfectly cut holes, no jagged edges
Fits perfectly, blocks the 3 bottom keys a little bit, but you'll get used to that in a day
Cons: Attracts a little dust, but obviously expected since its a silicone skin jelly case.
Overall, i'd recommend you buy this if you want good protection and don't want to compromise too much on looks. Of Course it takes the natural design away from the phone but that doesn't make it too bad. Grip is pretty good too...Although i sure would like if it had some sophistication, maybe a little bright white color on the back or otherwise its a very good quality product which keeps the phone safe at all the times.
and one more thing xperia arc s is an awesome phone evend today!!
