Does the screen turn on during boot at any point? Can you get into HBoot?
Ok so you will have to do this blindfolded literally. I hope you have a MICRO SD Card and MICRO SD Card reader or another phone or something to read the MICRO SD card
Download this http://dougpiston.com/files/RUU/bui...and-2.15.00.07.28-hboot-0.92.0000_PB31IMG.zip
First copy this image into the root of your SD Card and rename it to PB31IMG http://www.megaupload.com/?d=M5I1JA7H
Next, try to boot into HBOOT by holding Power and Volume down for about 8 seconds. Then wait about 2 minutes. Press Volume UP, then wait about 2 minutes more and press Volume UP again. If it worked you should feel your phone vibrating (if its in vibration). Finally pull out the battery to turn off your phone and put it back in after a few seconds.
Second Delete the PB31IMG file from your Micro SD Card, and replace it with the 'build-3.26.605.1-release-152016-baseband-2.15.00.07.28-hboot-0.92.0000_PB31IMG.zip'. Rename it to PB31IMG and place the SD Card in your phone. Now Press Volume Down and Power hold it for about 8 seconds. Wait about 5 minutes then press Volume UP. And your phone should be brought back to life !!!!

I just tried to unroot my Incredible and when it went to reboot all I have is a black screen, can someone please help me?
Anyone able to help an idiot out? I really screwed up, I checked multiple sources before attempting to unroot, and I now have a black SOD
Did you try ruu
Sent from my SPH-P100 using XDA App
How would I do that?
Looks like you flashed the RUU, probably a PB31IMG.zip, but for the AMOLED mode. And I'll bet you have an SLCD device. You will need to run the RUU blind I believe.
First go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786436
Put the part 2 PB31IMG.zip on your SD card. Put it in the phone. Boot holding Power + VOL Down. Wait a few minutes for hboot to verify and recognize the image. Then press Vol + up. And wait... Probably 10 minutes or so, it should eventually flash the RUU for 2.2 that comes with the SLCD model.
Here is the newest one that I know of:
http://dougpiston.com/files/RUU/bui...and-2.15.00.07.28-hboot-0.92.0000_PB31IMG.zip
It has hboot .92, the 7.28 radio, and its the 3.26.605.1 release. Put it on your SD card, and rename it "EXACTLY PB31IMG.zip".
Also make sure your SD card is FAT32 or it will not work. Hopefully you have a micro SD card reader. Comes in handy.

Just refreshed the tread. You'll probably have to go get a micro SD card reader.
I found an adapter laying around, so I'll try and hope for the best, thanks for your help
How do you reformat the sd card to fat32? I think that may be why it's not working for me
Nevermind, idiot moment
Still just a black screen, any suggestions?
Is it possible that my battery completely drained somehow and that's why it isn't working? If so, being that I have nothing, if I plug it in to charge, will it still charge the battery?

Yeah, I did exactly what he said. I think what happened is the unroot zip I initially downloaded was for the AMOLED screen and I have a SLCD. It was not clearly marked one way or the other, so I'm pretty sure that's what I did. I'm just trying to get it fixed now.

If it says locked and s-on....u need to register an account at htcdev dot com and follow the instructions there.

Follow step 3 by pressing and holding the Volume Down button and pressing and holding the Power button at the SAME time for at least 5 seconds.
It will work.
Good Luck.
I found the most reliable way to get to a "S-OFF" state to allow me to install custom ROMS was to get hold of an "XTC Clip" and go down that route. As it happened I found one that can be rented on ebay for £10 and went 50/50 with a mate. It worked like a charm.

okay, so i got it all working, my device is S-OFF, and now i need to root it and install a new ROM, can someone redirect me to the newest working version and stuff, I'm so new to android, and as you guys can tell.. very annoying. but if someone can link me a working root, and a working rom i'd love it!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195275
You can use this to root (its honestly much easier (opinion of mine) then all the other ways because you don't need a computer because you most likely don't have most of the things you will need to root on a computer and I'm just saving you a few hours and also make sure you delete the file you used to s-off your phone before downloading these files good luck
P.S as for the ROM we have a slow development right now most roms you see will be for the GSM version of our phone so I'm guessing you should wait (like I'm doing unfortunately) for some more stable roms to come out because most aren't complete yet

Rooted, clockwork mod recovery.
After I finish a call and pull the phone away from my face, the screen takes a bit to come back on so that I can end the call.
Is there a way to fix this? I'm gonna try a certain build.prop edit and I'll post back if it works.
Also, whats up with the display taking its sweet time to come on after pressing the power button to wake up the phone? Is there a fix for this? Thanks.

Pull our your SD card and the screen will come back fast.
There is something wrong with the SD card, same thing when you try to wake up the phone with the power button, takes a second to turn on.

Sorry, i'm a noob at all this. a friend of mine asked if i could debrand his htc wildfire s. i followed on of the guides on here, cant remember which. i unlocked the bootloader and put on a europe generic rom. i was hoping this would remove the simlock. as probably expected, it didn't. he bought a code on ebay to unlock the simlock on the phone. the code was entered and it seem to work but when a sim was put in, the phone was saying sim wont allow connection to this network.
i followed various methods on here to try and cure this, but again, no go. so i bought a xtc clip to see if this would work and it didn't. so i tried various roms to see if this was the problem.
in the end someone said it was the radio rom. i updated that and the phone turned off and now wont turn on. when i plug it it there is just an orange flashing light and no response from the phone at all.
Is there anything i can do to fix this or is it totally bricked. if it is, can it be fixed cheaper than buying new.
sorry if this has been covered already but i've been trawling the internet for so long it's done my head in.
any help will be apprieciated
thanks
The xtc clip definitely should have done it for you.
Remove and replace the battery, press volume down and power, what happens?
Is it important how I sent this?
Nothing happens when i do that. I can't even get into bootloader. The only time i can get my computer to recognise my phone is to power on my phone while holding both volume buttons Dow. This makes the phone vibrate 5 times. Then when i plug it in to my computer it tries installing drivers. Something like qualcomm drivers. At work at no so can't say the exact name.
As for the clip working, that's what i thought. Thanks for replying

Hi All,
I tried to flash Jedi Master 16 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1958230 to my ATT unlocked E980 LGGP for T-Mobile. Now the phone is dead, i.e. not responding to anything. Please please help.
Rooting and installing recovering image, Optimus G Pro How to get ClockworkMod CWM and make a backup | LG Optimus Forums - Android Optimus Forums
were successful. Flashed the stock Jedi Master 16 ROM (no change to the zip) all seemed fine till the installer prompt me to reboot with successful installation message displayed. After confirming rebooting, the phone is no longer responsive. Battery is fully charged before I left it alone over night (~6hrs). Battery still had full voltage in the morning. Battery pulled/reinserted a couple times, volume down+home+power pressed many times. Phone still does not respond at all. Connected to the computer, and the computer said the device driver installation failed.
Searched everywhere and found mentioned "deep sleep" symptom. However, battery was not drained. The so called "bricked" seems to referring to looping in booting. Mine is simple not responding to anything at all with or without battery in, with or without wall charger connected, no matter what key/keys pressed.
I suspect that I should have put the right modem file into the Jedi Master 16 zip file.
Please help and thank you in advance.
I'm not even sure what to say.. Why the hell would you install a Samsung Note 2 ROM on your E980???
Can you at least get into recovery mode?
Pull battery then put back in
Hold vol-up+power+home until it passes the lg logo and goes black then release.
Are you in clockworkmod recovery?
My bad. Thought Jedi X is Note 2 specific and Jedi Master is somewhat generic.
Phone won't even boot. Screen is off, and no LED lights/sign of life anywhere with the battery trick and vol-up/down + power + home trick.
When the battery pulled and USB powered, the back and menu led flashed (white) once. Then no more sign of life no matter what key(s) + power buttons combo press.

The only forum you flash roms out of is this one and it must be for the E980. Your only hope is to try and flash back to stock

if that works and you're back on stock then root and after that you have to use FreeGee to install a loki recovery..i suggest the cwm one. just make sure to select unlock security etc

Methods tried so far:

2. Pull and reinsert battery, then press (vol-up/down) + (camera shutter) + (home) + (power button).
3. Left the phone alone for 6hr (no USB charging). Battery is at full voltage (4.12v). Then following step 1 or 2.

Dude you need to simply do this. Pull battery, put battery back in, hook to computer and while plugging in the cable to your phone, hold volume up and down. If you see the 'download mode' box in the middle of the screen, YOURE SAVED, IF NOT THEN YOURE ****ED!
Never flash anything unless you know what you're doing. I seriously advise you to do a serious amount of reading before ampting any flashing if anything!

Points are well taken! I was in a rush which I definitely did not have to.
Tried the vol-up+down combo tip. No response. I guess I need to resort to some JTAG repair.
Thanks a lot.

The only forum you flash roms out of is this one and it must be for the E980. Your only hope is to try and flash back to stock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302660
if that works and you're back on stock then root and after that you have to use FreeGee to install a loki recovery..i suggest the cwm one. just make sure to select unlock security etc
good luck

It's volume down and power button, hold it simultaneously for about 10-15 seconds.

Methinks the former. The OP took a "parts is parts" approach to Android and made an expensive mistake.
Unbricked
My phone is finally unbricked using JTAG thanks to this man!

Everything is bright and shine except the partition table is screwed up where all apps (like camera app) see there is no space in the internal sd card. Waiting on the external micro sd card to arrive. Hopefully that will make the phone usable (beyond just browsing and installing apps).
In this stage, I can't even root it since the rooter can't write onto the internal memory space. And Android Partition Manager Pro, who requires the phone to be rooted at first, won't help either.
Does any one know how to repartition without rooting? Thanks a lot.
This whole thread.....so painful. Some people should not be allowed to have a smartphone...keyword smart
