Recently switched from the latest CM7 nightly to MIUI 1.7.29 and I'm pretty much satisfied with how pretty this ROM is. I'm OK with the known bugs as I've decided to trade performance over aesthetics when I switched. However, reading other users' comments, I learned than version 1.7.22 is better and does not have some of the bugs. I searched for the ROM & language pack but to no avail. Unlike the nightlies of CM7, the MIUI releases dont have an archived download site. Is there one? If really none, can someone upload the 1.7.22 ROM and language pack for me?
One more question, can I switch between MIUIAndroid and MIUI.us' releases without full wipe, just cache and dalvik?

Hello, noob here, so be gentle. I want to install gingerbread on my desire but not sure which one to go for. What's the best one Oxygen 2.0 RC7, cyanogenmod cm7, etc.
Also one thing I'm not sure, when I go to the page of roms for the desire and click on the Gingerbread roms I'm given a list of different rom so I though I think Oxygen 2.0 might be the best so I might try this one but then I go to another page and it's about the rom and the download link is there but I have two options and not sure if I need to download only the first one (Oxygen 2.0 - RC7) cause below I also have this link to download Oxygen v1.0.4 (Froyo stable).
So do I download the first only, or both or oxygen v.1.0.4 only ?
And do i need to bother with any other files like radio, gapps...
I'm running 2.2 vodafone
Thank a lot for any advice.
What you like best is up to you.
Oxygen comes with Gapps, on Cyanogenmod you have to flash them yourself. If you go for Oxygen just download RC7, not the old froyo one, and flash it. No real need to change the radio but if you want you can change to the recommended one.
oh, i get it now. Yeah, will try oxygen as i want gapps. Exciting... Thanks a lot
Try Cm7 Its really getting stable by the day.. and it does not stop at rc7
I've had GingerVillain for a couple of weeks and I'd recommend looking at this too. Video camera working (although not yet at 720p), everything else works fine (wifi, gps, bluetooth). Included are lots of the cyanogenmod tweaks as well.
Very stable and runs well with eViollets 'battery efficient' kernel for longer battery life.
Personally I'd do some more reading up first on these.
Anything AOSP based is going to have boot-loop issues, video cameras are hacks at best etc.
I'm still running oxygen (latest test build) but it doesn't come without it's warnings.
Next couple of weeks should see the N1 OTA update and some fairly significant progress in GB for desire.
Excuse my ignorance but what is asop based ?
I also read somewhere that froyo is the last update for the desire. No more...
AOSP = Android Open Source Project...that's what all of these custom ROMs (CM7, Oxygen, etc.) are built on.
FroYo may be the last official update but, as you can see, the AOSP devs have Gingerbread running on it so you will see support for the Desire as long as the hardware supports it.
Hey guys,
First of all I wanna thank everyone for making this such an awesome forum as I learned how to root & even flash my Defy with the tutorials in the Development forum.
Another thing I wanted to bring up was the awesome MIUI droid. I recently just upgraded to the 1.8.5 version. I liked it however I still noticed the problem with haptics feedback especially when typing. Does anyone know any solutions?
You mean the absence of haptic feedback when typing? This is a MIUI bug and as far as I'm concerned there's still no solution to it.
@rafaccb
Thanks for the info! Hope they sort that out real soon coz MIUI is a really sweet ROM.
Edit - One more question, I've tried flashing the latest CM7 nightly build but somehow it won't boot. I've followed the instructions thoroughly & it still won't work. Why is this?
Hmm, not sure, haven't messed much with CM7, but make sure to wipe data and cache before flashing between MIUI and CM7.
try with htc keyboard or swype and enable haptic in their settings, in my defy with miui.us 1.8.5 works
I use Swiftkey and get haptic
Hi
What is difference between [ROM] Motorola Defy MIUI.us Presents MIUI 1.8.5 Pure English [AOSP] and [ROM]MIUIandroid Defy 1.8.5 - English - Updated 2.3.5/CM7 Defy Merge ?
Hey guys,
Thanks for the help & advice. But I managed to get on one of the nightlies of CM7 so I'm currently using that. Maybe when there's a more stable version of MIUI I'll switch to that.
@PK-motorsport
From what I know, the difference is just that on the Pure English version you don't have to flash the language pack whereas the Merged version requires a language pack as it is originally in Chinese. However, I did notice some missing features in the Pure English version.
Hey!
I want to put CM rom on my gf's wildfire and i didn't find anywhere the difference between the regular and the nightly version... can someone explain it to me?
Nightlies are experimental versions, which may be better than the stable, but, it may sometimes also have bugs not present in the stable. The building of nightlies is a continuous process, with a new nightly released everyday.
Another difference is that you do not get "official" support on the CM Bug tracker for nightlies, but, this is available for RC / Stable versions.
For your gf's phone, I would probably recommend you go with the stable.
thank you for your help!
stable is better for father, i think
This is the same as Aleeyt's rom. All I did was replace the apk's with the miui.es versions. Languages are Spanish, English, and Chinese. Install instructions are the same as Aleeyt's 2.4.20 rom. This is GB Miui, not ICS\v4.

I've noticed that Defy Miui has ben EOL'd at a few English Miui sites. I'm looking into using Droid2\X\MS2 Miui Ports. The DroidX Miui v4 2.5.4 gets to the bootanimation, then bootloops. I'm going to try adding in its frameworks and apps into Quarx's 12\05\06 CM9 and see where it goes. If all goes well, I'll have a new Miui base to keep porting from, though it won't be in Spanish.
I've also been using the DroidX cpu governors with Quarx's CM9 04\17, and they work great, really great. BoostedAss is an awesome governor, and has been giving me good results, my best ever. I'd make a cwm zip, but it requires some bootmenu script changes and what worked with 04\17 isn't working with 05\06 currently (only tried once with my first script, and a script mess up means flashing the sbf until its right).
thanks

GB MIui hasn't updated in a very long time (since before this roms release if I remember correctly). I haven't messed with V4 very much to make a stable port.
If you know how to port, Miui Pikachu 2.Xy over at the Defy forums is pretty much the most up to date GB Miui rom. If you can't port, bug me enough and I may get to it. :silly:
BTW, the Pikachu and White Rabbit roms are the hardest roms to port.
If you know of a multi-language GB Miui I can replace the apk's of Pikachu and make a ML Pikachu Port. Pika is English, German, and Spanish -- where as most of our users are English, Spanish, and Russian.
I just got done checking the Miui.es forums and there are a few unofficial ICS and JB Miui roms for the Defy. It may be possible to port them over to the Bravo.
I'm in the middle of compiling PA 2.10 so I'm not gonna be able to get to it until Saturday or Sunday. If you could go to the MIUI.es forums (you have to register -- a pita for me since I can barley read Spanish) and read up on the roms a pick one with either the least amount of bugs or bugs you can deal with; I'll give it an attempt at porting it.
Ok thanks skeevy420....

Directed me to the 4.3 download.please help !
Latest official SlimBean build 8, Android 4.2.2 based

I think you need a common file like with SlimICS, but I can't seem to find it. 70mb is on the small side for a JB rom

Huge thanks Val D. Should have had more coffee.lol
Completely missed the unsupported files on the slim site.
You have a great day!
No problem. Navigation on slimroms.net is a bit confusing. Unfortunately, they delete older builds. In my opinion build 6 was best 4.2.2 based Slim. If you are looking for a light and fast ROM, than try ported CyanCore v.4.0.0 (CM based) and GamerzROM v4.0, both stripped down versions of CM10.1, Android 4.2.2. Both are stable and good for daily use.
