I'm from Cologne (Köln).
Maybe the event will be at the (2008 opnened) Microsoft building at the Rhein in Cologne.
Yes, it's a giant M(icrosoft) with its own Lufthansa Check in and Marina.
If its in a smaller location it can be at 4010 (a new Concept Stor by Deutsche Telekom).

sorry but Nokia do not show any devices to this event
http://thisismynext.com/2011/08/02/nokia-microsoft-windows-phone-gamescom/

I really hope we see some WP7 devices from Nokia, soon. I always liked their phones in the pre-Smartphone area and hope that their Windows phones will be as good as their old stuff used to be.

More to the point, Nokia need to get there devices now, certainly before the next iphone, as soon as that comes out it will be game over as far as building any momentum is concerned. If it comes out before hand and its the n9 design as leaked (great design by the way) and its pushed heavily with advertising across the board then they might stand a chance.
Its all well and good being hush hush on future devices, but on a launch like this with a new phone on a new os (for them at least), they need lots of stock, lots of advertising, and they need confirmed dates that the public can await and look forward to. So far Nokia have been far to slow yet again to react, which is the reason there in this mess to begin with.
my 2cents anyway.

Unless I am WOWed, I'll stick with old HTC...good dependable phones for the most part....
I hope the first Noika models to the US are fully maxed out with front camera and all the bells you can wish for. Not the low end, low price point models they are talking about.

Mayby they show a N-GAGE like Windows Phone 7.5 for Gamers!?
IMO a phone with Joypad-like Buttons and Xbox LIVE (more great games will come after Mango release with all the new API) would be THE phone for Gamers.
Day one for me!
I will be there with my hawkeyes. Strength of the hawk

Check out todays BING picture!
This can't be randomly...

I'm excited they've always had the best hw

Windows Phone Series 7

Just noticed this site came up, after waiting for info for a while.
It feels disappointing
windowsphone7series dot com
How disappointing ?
As disappointing as WM6.5 ?
As disappointing as Win7 ? Vista ? Zune ?
It can't be as disappointing as ME !
Perhaps there's a pattern emerging here, much the same as the Microsoft stock price over the last 10 years (-45%)
What's the bets Ballmer will be out of a job by 2011 ?
I personally don't like the new face that its been given...until I try it for my own though I will not judge hastily, because it looks like there could be potential.
touch pro2 cannot run the wp7 series as it is low end device and doesnot meet the requirements so all of you will not be able to try it without changing your phones
Ah, how refreshing, more Microsoft bloat without managing to move forwards or impress anyone
Here's a good example :

How do they do it ?

yet microsoft is not the only company being pointed out for bloatware as you can see.
I think simple and intuitive is much better than what winmo7 looks like, but once again I won't solidify opinion until I am testing it out on a device.

And Microsoft isn't the only one disappointing, but they still are

I never said microsoft wasn't a major contributor either, I was just stating that the information you gave was only half of it (unless they of course read the article). So yes microsoft adds bloatware, but so do many others.
*edit*
I see we are on the same page, very unique as I believe this is a first.
What about Blu-Tack ?
There's no bloat in Blu-Tack !

Now that WP7S is announced, I'm sure someone will make a WP7S UI for Win 6.X just like the iPhone UI back in 07. So, developers get coding.

Windows Phone 7 Series, here's the pictures!

Microsoft's set the internet ablaze with new information about the Windows Phone 7 Series which was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress today at Barcelona.
The pictures and videos are pouring in and I'm here to help organize some of this mess for everyone.

My thoughts exactly. Let's hope some form of 'skinning' is possible.
It's very ugly..Zune HD like....
Super ugly !!!
The homescreen is ugly, but the rest of the OS is very elegant and simple. You guys should watch demos on youtube you will be blown away. MS said that there gonna be tight on OEM customization, but I think their still gonna allow some customization for OEM to stand out from the competition. You guys REALLY need to try out the demo site: http://www.windowsphone7series.com/
i think also it is nice and clear - thats what i want - no overfilling with buttons and things from tabs and options on the "homescreen"
it remember me more of that TouchOne skin - where u move up - down - left and right to reach specific screens instead of using a tabsborder. people often forget that we use such phones also in cars and while walking - so we need a sure and failsafe surface with not to small buttons (at least less).
if anybody knows a good and fast! UI for Wm6.5 let me know - new sense is nice looking but still i search for something simplier to use/touch UI
First impressions...
It looks overly simplified, and more like an art project - or a set of 'design placeholders' that mark areas still needed to be finished in detail.
I question a lot of real-life interactivity with the device, it seems a little silly having the text of the hub cropped off screen.
It wouldn't surprise me if the the API's for this are very basic (aka. simple gadgets) - I have a feeling this isn't designed to run apps in the traditional sense.

Leaked Asus WP7 !!

I am a big fan of ASUS.. and here is the pic of one leaked model they are supposed to launch in 1st three months of 2011..!

This is what they have to say:
“We want to be more focused, so we do a lot of integration in terms of the software and maps. This kind of integration takes time, so we won’t launch a lot of models like other competitors. We want to be focused and provide the best location-based services for our customers” Fei Yen, Garmin-Asus
Damn, it's fugly ;>

Let me translate that for you: "We are going to mess with the software until WP7 will be completely unstable and lagging as hell. Furthermore we are trying to determine what the competition has been doing wrong to be sure that we are able to make the same mistakes. Then, months late, we will provide an ugly handset with outdated hardware and crappy software, just like we always did."
I don't think it looks that bad at all. Just a bad picture of it
Thanks, but that picture already got posted months ago...

Nokia World 2011

Nokia World 2011
Live blog from Engadget here
We have pretty much seen the leaked shots of the hardware, what else is everyone waiting to hear about?
I'm really excited to see what type of changes/additions/apps Nokia will bring to the WP7.5 experience.
I also pray the Ace is a real device.
I also want extensive hands on videos and impressions of all the hardware.
Release dates/Prices/Carrier info
We haven't seen the Nokia Ace, waiting to see what that's like before I (Hopefully) buy a 64gb Nokia 800.
I hope we get some really good videos of the hardware too, and if the Ace isn't real I'm going to sulk They look beautiful phones. Hopefully they are going to make me go shopping. More than individual handsets though I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do in terms of marketing the platform; a mobile giant such as Nokia could make all the difference in getting the world to take notice of WP7.

Not as uniquely exciting as the Lumia 800 but will satisfy the big screen needs of users.

One California man is thanking his lucky stars that he decided to buy an HTC Evo 3D. Yesterday morning the phone stopped a bullet that would otherwise have hit him in the chest.
It’s a scene right out of an old Western flick, except that the pocket-sized Bible has been replaced by a 4.3-inch Android smartphone. A look at the back of the Evo reveals that its most volatile components (the battery) played an important role in stopping the slug.
Obviously the victim will be in the market for a new phone now. If HTC’s marketing department has an ounce of common sense, they’ll leap at the chance to work this into their Iron Man campaign and get a brand new phone into this guy’s hands as quickly as possible.
This isn’t the first time an HTC phone has stopped a bullet, either. You may recall an eerily similar incident that occurred back in 2011, where an Atlanta nightclub valet’s life was saved by an Evo 4G. Yes, that’s another Sprint variant.
Is it possible that the Sprint/HTC collaboration is yielding some breed of superphones? Clearly one other thing Droid does is stand up to small caliber rounds.
Unapologetically plastic? That’s a slogan that works for some. Others might prefer the sound of something a bit more dramatic, and if HTC can’t find a way to capitalize on a second live-saving, bullet-stopping phone then the company deserves to be absorbed by a competitor and fade into oblivion.

That's like the best kind of marketing...
yeah, HTC dould use it efficiently...

haha, yeah...It's true, HTC could replace the mobile and use it for marketing... It is definitely the best build in the android mobile market...
They should really use that for marketing, would catch the attention of people with cracked phones!
New business opportunities for HTC. Manufacturing of body armour.
