Okay, i have a Kin TWO but i want to be able to run the Kin TWOm OS i need to find how to be able to download and install it if that is possible? any help would be great!
We're not able to do that yet as we have no way of writing to the Kin outside of their crippled MTP implementation.
Once/if we get through that, though, I suspect it shouldn't be uncommonly hard to get another firmware on it.
i just wish i could get the kin twom os on my original kin cause there are so many useless features on my kin two now.
My best suggestion to you is to contact Verizon about it. I highly doubt they will give you a copy of the OS image (as they have never released it) but they might be able to work something out with you to get the phone updated, or maybe replaced.
When they first announced the end of the Kin studio service, I thought they actually had an offer to replace your phone for free, like found here: http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/11/kin-studio-closing-january-31st-verizon-offers-free-phones-to-a/
It looks like they no longer offer this, but it wouldn't hurt to contact them and see what they suggest. Let us know if they do offer anything. I'm curious what they'd say.
Original OS?

You can access the original Kin OS by pressing r+b when you start up the phone. Is that what you were wondering?

It's the opposite. He has an original Kin, and wants to get the M software on it.

well, if you do the same thing, it'll also put the Microsoft OS on there

I believe that only works for the twom and onem and not for the original two and one. Somebody correct me if I am wrong. That would great if I am.

The original Kin OS, and the Kin "M" OS were both written by Microsoft.

The original Kin came out before the "M" software was ever written. It does not have the "M" software on it, and cannot be "upgraded" to it without getting reimaged through Verizon or PDC.

Problems Immediately
It doesn't work with my ROM which is 1.19.401.0 WWE
can maybe someone look into that? There were no new ROM updates, HTC says that WWE ROM is 1.19.479.0
Is there any info that goes with this?
Where did you find it?
htc official site. look ati it, but many are having the same problem challenger150 describet, me too. I agree with the one who said that they must have done it in a hurry, and so f****d up something with the version numbers.

Wow, my ROM is 1.14.161.5 - does that mean I have a really old version?
I have a Vodafone version and I got it just one week ago
i get the error message " This hotfix is not compatible with your device." on 1.19.404.0 (51489) NLD (dutch)
on the HTC homepage i see that this is for 1.19.404.1
yup, same here.
Solution for you
It is just an exe wrapper around a cab file.
To bypass the exe you just have to extract file's contents with winrar
and then recreate the cab file.
to install you can simply click on the cab you've just created
..and you're done

You also could simply extract the .exe, then rename the files according to the setup.xml and then copy the files into the \windows folder.
The point is, that these files are officially been made for a ROM-version I don't have on my phone (I admit, it couldn't be found anywhere either) and there have to be a reason for this.
I would not like to have to hardreset my device now if anything messed up.
I think I'll wait for the next information from HTC to come. Maybe they'll come up with a hotfixed hotfix ( ) or a new ROM version
First, Linox, you are genius. Followed what you said and got the info that phone is updated.
Second. I have one question which is more rhetorical than realistic. I believe that me, as well as other TP2 owners gave a lot of money for it (expect those who got it in poker game or similar ). The question is how is it that a phone which costs like 3-4 other (samsung, sony, blablabla phones) gets hotfixes that don't work? Why are Hotfixes necessary? How hard it is to give 100 phones to real HTC users and wait for respond from them? They would definitely see that there are some errors which NEED to be fixed before launching the phone. HTC is not a new company. They exist for at least 8 years now. They should know how phones should be made.
Finally, I got my phone from Frankuft airport a week after official release. The price was around 900 Eur. I believe that you guys paid something similar. More or less. How is it that a phone that should be Iphone killer (and it definetly looks like one) has more problems than that stupid Iphone? Do HTC guys have money to buy other phones and look how some things are made? Why do I have to read so much about entering registry, changing it and modifying it in order to make my phone work normally? I mean, all of you guys who do it and play around with your phones to make ours work THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I APPRECIATE IT A LOT. Maybe HTC should consider paying you to test their phones and make updates.

Would you be so kind to share your selfmade .cab file with us? So not everybody needs to install a .cab-maker and mess with the files for himself
According to your "rhetorical" question:
I believe you cannot test everything and everywhere. Even with 100 testers some users will experience other "issues". I state, that the best solution for this is a flexible and fast support -and this is where HTC sucks.
As soon as some users come up with a problem, HTC should work on the solution and come up with a fix as fast as possible.
The SMS-problem is know for long now and 1 1/2 months later they come up with a hotfix which does not work -too little, too late.
Overall, I have to say, the TP2 is a very stable and fast phone, considering the fact that it's Windows Mobile. Just think about the Blackberry Storm my girlfriend owns: 4th firmware update and still buggy as hell. Or think about the Nokia N95: years of experience in building phones and they release such a sleazy and buggy piece of crap for an large amount of money.
The SMS bug of the TP2 is bad but you can still use the windows-messaging so it's half as bad as it could be.
Hehe, think about the bugs that will come up when the first 6.5-ROM is released
LOL!!!
I don't even want to imagine that. Comments like "I bricked my TP2" and similar. That will be interesting definitely, and yes, you are right. Maybe 100 users wont solve anything but how is it that other phones don't have such problems or as you mentioned problems are solved but MUCH faster.
And finally, I placed the .rar file on rapidshare. You can download it, place it on phone memory or storage card and run. In second or so you will get info that operation has completed successfully.
I hope I did it right as explained in previous threads.

Dont forget to soft reset your phone
By the way, I tested it by sending 3 messages to my own number. The thing works and I didn't received strange information from operator that this phone number doesn't exist.

You cannot test this by sending a message to your own number. The first replay to a number will always work. only when you send a 2nd, 3rd, etc. message, it will go wrong. When you are sending a message to yourself, you will always replay 1 time because you will recive the message immidiatly...
Ranney
HTC official support told me to wait a few days since it's still a work in progress, so probably they will release another version or a corrected one for this hotfix.
Kinda reminds me of the "Hotfixes" for the Touch HD, which initially broke more than they fixed....
Quality control anyone?

I paid for it that money. It was in Frankfurt Airport. Since I live in croatia, this phone will most probably cost even more. Just like it was with other HTC models.
Only in "developed" countries these phones have normal price tag since HTC sells there directly. Here, we don't have HTC office but a sub-licensee who will not even fix this phone if something happens while on international warranty.
So, yes I paid around 900Euro to get mine. If you need I think I still have a receipt somewhere, I'll be glad to upload it.

Cherry is a fruit, quite delicious to taste, spoils quickly, if not gathered and consumed soon.
Meaning that no software other than default is installed.
Default test module or whatever you want to call it.
Out of the box unmodified other to install MyPhone so I could make some calls.
In the American English idiom, untouched. Virgin.
Working very well.
Windows Mobile ATT most recent stock ROM as far as I can tell.
If you have a question about operation or state of ROM, please ask.
As the cherry my offer won't last long.

They say the rom can only be flashed once by a dev once it's downloaded. I wonder if that's going to be a problem for some dev teams.
I'm curious about how much security Microsoft has put into this, and how it's gonna work. If it's an image, we can extract it. If it's one of those CAB-based updates, we can.. obtain it. But here's my guess-Microsoft probably added some serious security, given as they know what we attempt, and there may very well be some activation involved in this.
Anyone who gets it install wanna comment?
Actually the big issue for me, when I read the mile long remarks you have to accept to get it is this:
you can't update to the final Mango without rolling back first to the backup you do now.

It makes perfect sense to me — they'll only replace one phone per account if the update bricks your phone. But if you're willing to take the risk, you can update more phones.

Just wondering if anyone here is familiar with 'training units' of the HTC 10. A seller says he used to work for HTC, who gave him brand new phones to train employees on. The phones are brand new and say 'Not For Sale' on the back, but they work just like a regular unit. The other catch is he says they do not support software updates, but he thinks you can update them manually. I figure that updates not supported would mean that they will not get OTA updates, but that you could flash them yourself. Anyone know for sure, I don't see why not?

I've had these before and have been an ambassador for htc too.
Granted the phones were a little older but htc don't change their ways [emoji6]
Also so long as the hardware hasn't been modified, for example some demo units (Samsung) they remove the antennas and other critical components for making calls and texts, not on all devices and I've never seen htc do this either, you can make calls, text, mobile data works etc?
Also check the bootloader and download mode screens.. See what info you have there.. Input the info you see there here.
We need more information.
I'm pretty sure it can be made to stock but we need to clarify some things first.

No problem, they can be made to be normal though.. The seller doesn't know what they're talking about. either way, no point now. What he said was it said 'not for sale' on the back, had a very small marking on the front to indicate training phone, and software updates were not supported. But I believe he meant via OTA..... I figured it could be flashed tho, and I can't remember the last time I waited for an OTA anyway, as opposed to just grabbing the firmware myself
Anyway, I already bought a different phone but there is also this ad if you wanna check it out. This one seems a bit different tho. Previous one was not a store unit.

Just went on emui.huawei.com to copy and provide a link of an EMUI 5 update for an user in need, and this i what I've got (see pic in attachment). Seems really an hazardous movement since that i don't think that the problem could ever be servers costs the packages are extremely useful particularly for customers allowing them to restore soft-bricked phones...
That is awful, what if someone got a bootloop and needs a package?!

Yeah the necessity to have a secure package ready to flash that could fix your phone is the thing that matters most, minding at the fact that developers could rely on original sources...

Definitely agree with you, is just the minimum that a person could except from his phone's brand. Even the time that they keep supporting phones on updates is minor than other manufacturers, (Samsung for example) and they decide to remove released packages too now.
Ugh. As a Mate 2 user I thought my firmware had disappeared due to age. Now apparently this is a trend for Huawei. Can you say "forced obsolescence" folks?
For what it's worth, I did find the following link from Huawei that seems to house the firmware:
http://m.huawei.com/pkmobile/consumer/support/downloads/index.htm
Got to it from my phone; haven't tried it from my desktop.
But who knows how long that will last?
I got mine from my device support page where you'd find the manual and stuff:
http://consumer.huawei.com/kw-en/support/products/downloads/mediapad-t1-7-kwen.htm

Can't find my BLN-L21 package, but at least it's still something. We'll see how much it'll last...

On this page, my phone isn't even listed for technical definitions

Same here! Thankful I downloaded Emui 3 (Lollipop) for MT2-L03 a while ago. My phone has long since disappeared.
Another thing: I sent a technical question to the Huawei Emui team almost a week ago - still no response. Coincidence? Hard to believe this isn't somehow related. And I don't usually wear tinfoil hats.
