it'll find them anywhere, as long as it's not in (or underneath) a folder with a .nomedia marker file in it.
Just make a music folder if there already is not one, put them there. I think Android searches the whole phone for tracks anway.

How do I get my music player to not play my ringtones? I have them in a separate folder yet they still play. Do i just have to rely on playlists?

Try creating an empty text file named .nomedia place it in the folder with your ringtones.

Seems to have worked thank you!

Back when I used to own an HTC Titan, I had to put my ringtones inside of the Windows Folder to make them be recognized as ringtones, and that used to work well for me to prevent windows media player to read them.
Here in android, I'm thinking it might be similar, but I'n a noob in android and I don't know the OS structure very well, so I hope this makes sense to someone and can reply back to us.
Ok sorry about that didn't think it would block them from being seen as ringtones all together. As the post above states mabey putting them in the system ringtone folder might let them be ringtones but not be recognized by media player. To do this you will need to be rooted and then move them to /system/media/audio/ringtones. Just throwing stuff out there i'm still pretty noobish.

Yeah i will try that with root explorer.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Yup. Threw them into system/media/notifications

Nope system wont recognize them in that folder

Is there an Android app like windirstat? It would come in handy for cleaning out my sd card:/

I read somewhere that if you mount your phone as a drive on your computer, windirstat will work on it.

I was just thinking the same yesterday, when I discovered that my "internal" was down to like 50meg
I've used several from the market, and the best one I've found so far is called "disk usage".
I'd post a link, but I'm on my phone ATM.
It isn't exactly like windirstat, but it is close enough for my use.

Es file explorer has that functionality also.

I have a 16G memory card and it reads 12G used and 3.3 G remaining. I have about 3G if games from gameloft and barely 1G of pics 3.4G of backup data. When I select to see what apps are on sdcard it had a list of games and everyone of them gives me the option to move to usb storage. I've
Deleted a lot of stuff especially videos and pics and it seems like my memory card its congested. Do I need to format it to get it empty?

I'd hookup to PC and browse through files there, delete things you don't need like old roms and leftover garbage from old apps and see if that helps. Old nandroids take up a lot of space too.

Just google lost.dir and see what pops up. From my understanding in doing that a while back, this is kind of like a recycling bin area. I'm sure someone else on here can explain it in greater detail. I check that folder and delete it every now and again when I see it filling up. The phone will create that folder again on the next reboot.

I turned my phone off and on and now my SD card isn't being read. My phone says it's mounted and I can go into it with Root Explorer and mess with anything and everything, but when I go into Apollo or Google Play Music, no music is shown, and when I go into gallery, no pictures are shown. How do I fix this?
Check for a .nomedia file on the root of your sd card.

I found it and deleted it, but no luck. Still can't find music files and pictures in Gallery.
Did you reboot after and verify it was gone? Also look in your music and picture directories for that file and remove it. Then reboot.

I thought so too. A reboot doesn't matter when it comes to that. I got so mad at my phone when it was a simple solution... -__-

The only way that I've found to do this is Settings-->Storage-->Scroll all the way down to "Miscellaneous" and click on Transfer data to SD card. It doesn't do this in the way that vanilla Android does, but it's close enough for me.
If you just want to move installed app to sd card use link2sd
Press thanks on help
