Is there a way that I can get the modified messaging app that I used to see in 2.1 and 2.2 roms. The stock app is missing a lot I of features and I really don't want to download an alternative like go sms. Is there a way to port it? Any help is appreciated.
Yea I miss that one too. The steel blue theme for froyo uses that one. Its a nice theme as well.

For the past few days, I've been looking for a way to change the theme of the SMS, Contacts, and eMail apps from the plain white ones on my CM9 Epic. Nothing seems to work.
I've seen several nice looking themes for the Nexus and whatnot, and thought they'd work (rookie mistake?) but they don't. I haven't found anything similar to them on the Epic 4g forums though.
Any suggestions?

Oddly enough, I've tried some of them (ICS Fixer and Sense 4 Trial). They change the overall look, but the messaging, contacts, and email apps stay ...white and blue, or yellow.
I've downloaded and used apks (like Sense style Mms with emoji zip), but they don't seem to apply either.

Yikes, and everything else.
I did find an apk for an inverted version of the natural mms. Now I'm struggling to see if all that work was actually worth me deleting GoSms.
This is more or less what I was looking to do: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667615 (And I did )
I have tutorial up in the gnex forums on how to theme the MMS app. And themes can't theme it very well... they can change the images but not the XML which is what ALL the MMS is.

Hey everyone. I've been working hard on theming my CM7 to look as close to ICS as possible just because ICS is so much prettier. Does anyone have their own "ICS looking" setups that they are willing to share? Here's my setup (they are all Free Market apps):
Sonny Sekhon's CM7 ICS Theme (HDPI)
kovdev's Ice Cream Sandwich theme for GO Launcher
CM Halo Style Rings Lockscreen
GOSMS with GO ICS Theme
johntanmi's Ice Cream Sandwich Keyboard
Anyone else have better setups or anything like that? I really wish I could get the ICS transitions but I'm unaware of how to edit ROMs and stuff like that. I also wish that the incoming call/call screen could be ICS themed too, but it appears that I would have to change the framework.

For the animations, use UOT Kitchen, look it up on Google, as I can't post a link, on my phone now. It allows you to theme a lot of things, all you have to do is upload framework-res.apk and systemui.apk from your current rom. Or for visual theming, you can actually upload a cm7 theme onto it, and edit it to change whatever you want, like battery style and color or other icons. Keep in mind though, that to change animations, using a cm7 theme will not change those, to change them, you have to do the framework-res, and systemui way. Its a very useful website, just play with it, and you can learn to do a lot

Is this the one listed in my original post, or is this a new one? Could you be specific as to what the actual market app is?
Ah sorry. I dont think its the one listed in your original post. Its the Ice Cream Sandwich CM7 Theme from Sonny Sekhon. Got it from the market. I liked it the most because the theme seemed most complete. To set it once its downloaded, go to the Theme Chooser app included with CM7.
Not sure if anything similar has been poster before but I made a Galaxy S III themed dialer.
It's based off stock FF18 and it should work on all FF18 ROMs that have not had extensive modifications done to contacts.apk and phone.apk
Use ES File explorer or something similar to copy and paste into the system/app folder on your device.
Reset your device.

Honestly. This dialer completes the sgs3 ROM. The thing that really makes it stand out is that you did both parts. The dialer and in call dialer. Most don't do that. Very nice job.
I couldn't agree more!
I think this really adds a polish to the rom myself!
Can this be ported to AOKP and AOSP? I would LOVE to see this on AOKP! The dialer on AOKP sorta sucks. No disrespect to the dev, it's a google thing I know.
The phone and contacts setup on GB is much nicer then whatca get on AOKP for example. This theme though, WOW! If AOKP had anything like this, I wouldn't have gone back to TW Gingerbread!
Would gladly donate if that gets the ball rolling!

(Looks yummy, right! I sure think so!)
After reading and watching videos about this new OS, I did get excited, but how would someone like me- A young, ambitious, unskilled developer-wannabe get a brand new OS working on our elderly, AOSP unsupported ARMv6 Optimus V?
The next best thing- something we already have; Android 4.0.4 aka Ice Cream Sandwich!
I spent the next week schmoozing through the internet for files related to 4.1-Apps, Wallpapers, ROMs, anything I can find.
I ended up with this- a half way attempt to get CM9 to look and function a bit like Jellybean! Welcome to Vanillabean! (Vanillabean= A mixture of Ice Cream [Ice Cream Sandwich with Vanilla Ice Cream] and Jellybeans!)
>Included<
>Galaxy Nexus Android 4.1 BootAnimation
>Various Jellybean apps- Updated Gallery, Email, Calculator, Contacts, Market, etc. New apps: Currents, Google Ears, etc.
NOTE- Google Now (The new pretty search) is not included, I couldn't get it to work but I will try to have it by the next update!
>Themed Trebuchet, System UI, and Framework APKs by ANDROIDCUSTOMIZe on XDA-Developers. (I've had trouble decompiling/recompiling ICS's Framework-res.apk myself and could not edit them with as such. Ninjamorph editing sent me into a bootloop, also. As soon as I figure this out I'll add newer lockscreen and such bitmaps AND ill see if I can get the cool new Transition animations from Jellybean!)
>Updated Jellybean fonts
>Jellybean wallpapers! (All 12!)
>Bugs
>Nav bar in Lockscreen has no buttons until unlocked (or until the status bar is pulled down)
>Nav bar sometimes "cramps" screen as it takes up valuable screen real estate. Will try to disable it since we have working hard keys- Unless you guys want me to keep it in.
>Status bar text color is still cyan/blue, not gray. Working on it.
>Possibly more, please note any you find in the comments!!!
>Lockscreen handle when pressed is a bit small
>Have not really edited build.prop. WIll figure out and fix. NEXT UPDATE WILL HAVE AN UPDATED VERSION OF QUATTRIMUS. IF ENOUGH ASK FOR IT, I WILL MAKE AN AOKP VERSION!
Working
>Most things- Camera, Wifi, USB, 3G,
Not working
>Anything in Quattrimus.
Camcorder issues
Native Wifi Tethering, use Barnacle from Play Store
Full HW acceleration.
>Extras
If you want the Jellybean Keyboard with prediction, you can find it in the play store. Jellybean Keyboard!
Thank you to the following people!
Cyanogenmod- Kind of obvious, thanks for CM9!

sick looking ROM
Cannot send/receive texts
I tried this ROM and ran into one problem...I can't send or receive text messages, regular texts not picture messages.
Whenever i tried to send a text i get: Currently can't send your message. it will be sent when the service becomes available.
I am connected to 3G and can browse normally...any ideas what i could be missing?
So far i love this ROM, but the texting issue is keeping me away
You can resize the navbar, you have to decompile the framework-res.apk and the file is somewhere in the values folder I believe, if you want to completely disable it, go to the bools.xml file in the framework-res and look for a line that says something along the lines of hasnavbar or navagationbar and change the "true" value to false
This will clear your messages. Back them up before flashing.
Flash this at your own risk. It is working on my phone, but that doesn't mean it is guaranteed to work on yours. I am not responsible if your phone explodes, implodes, melts, bricks or anything else.
This mod is for deodexed TouchWiz 4.1.1 ROMs built from T-Mobile firmware. I don't recommend flashing it on anything else.
Built from T-Mobile files based on the guide found here.
Uninstaller now available! Just flash Uninstall_AOSP_MMS.zip in CWM/TWRP and you will be back to stock TouchWiz Messaging.
That being said, it appears to be 100% functional on my phone, MMS and SMS are working, QuickMessage is working, etc. Let me know how it works for you!
Should work on all UVDLJA/LJC TouchWiz ROMs. If you have issues, let me know and we will try and get them worked out.
Thanks to loserskater for coming up with the method that made this possible!

There's 3 sets of signal bars, so you can change them with wanam no problem. Most of the notification icons you see on a day to day basis are also chromed out. I'm going to start working on changing popular user app notification icons Chrome too.
If anybody had requests for certain colored themes let me know. Like if someone wants a red n black contacts dialer mms theme...I can do it. I just usually stick with blacks and blues Cuz Im only sharing themes I make for myself and I don't like any other colors. But I'll take requests.
Btw... I still can't figure out why my accept call circle is still green. I've flashed a different looking red and blue circles but the both of them don't show up in the dialer. Only the arrows are changed. Can anyone shed some light on this mystery.....[emoji51]

I'm thinking about making these 9 dialers from pas2001 as patches for this theme though.
Also bringing in the Homer Simpson wifi head again....
I basically just browse the net looking for pngs to theme with.... And when one comes together fully...I share it. I think I might be running out of new stuff to find though. I'm even browsing different device sections of the forum....

I can give you the keyboard, let me know if u still want it.
I don't have the calculator modded in my theme.
Apparently the owner is just as INSANE as his rom.
I just got this Galaxy S4 and been running Insane 4.4.4. But after seeing this theme I'm thinking of installing 4.4.2 just to use this theme, it's sick, before I do any chances of updating to 4.4.4 anytime soon?
Update for 4.44
any time soon?

I never updated to 4.4.4 Cuz I haven't been able to get around a computer long enough to download all the stuff involved and do it all. New modem's mainly. All I can do is flash roms... And I think my data drops are due to being on 4.4.2 with an old modem as it is.... plus I haven't themed in a while. I've just stayed in 4.4.2 Cuz in fine with this phone and how my theme makes thus rom look. I'll probably keep it like this till I get my G3 or G4 Cuz in abandoning the galaxy due to battery/microsd
Someone who themes for 4.4.4 should be able to convert this theme over though.
