ok .. i used to think that wifi was no problem for me ..
hooked up several notebooks and helped a lot of folks with there home wifi networkt with WEP WPA-PSK and such..
but .. i cant connect my smc router (SMCWBR14-G2)
to my universal
what kinda encryption and authincation should i use and such.
settings-> wireless LAN
do i need to do stuff in main or is it just for status reports ?? cant fill in anything in main.
do i need to do something in the LEAP (what does LEAP mean ? ) do i need to make an NEW SSID or something ?
can some one please help me with little steps how connect my univeral to my wifi router.
please help ..

Whell....Im not the wizard to say what your wifi router is set on but mostly it tends to be wep and then input your security key...in sayng this Ill remind you these settings (wep, wpa...etc) are all security features.
If you have wifofun (cant remember if this is the exact name) installed on the pda it will tell you what you got....otherise go into your router admin panel a see what you got.

but because WPA is a bit better than WEP but hey .. i got wifi connection now

Go to wifi settings, then network card and make sure that "network card" is set to connect to "the internet".
Go to connection settings and make sure that "my work" connection, on the proxy tab, the "this connects to the internet" should be ticked.
I have done that, but it doesn't work.
Disable your proxy when using wifi. You can find it In Programs > Proxy manager. Hope it helps! This is from Patcando2.

Thanks so much for the answer regarding the proxy manager. I can't believe such simple instructions aren't readily available in any of the documentation for the phone or Windows Mobile.
I had tried everything with every other configuration for networking and connections but was unfamiliar with the Proxy Manager as my last Pocket PC didn't have or need it.

hey dude, just delete the connections that you do not need.. make sure the only one left is what you want for your internet explorer..
thank you or your reply but i need to have the 3 connections that exist on it. i have differents APN for differents usages, one for shared connection with my laptop with public internet, another to connect to my provider wap portal and a third for shared connection but on my company private network. so i can't remove the existing connections

i'm trying to find a way to use my device as a wifi (wlan) card in any way. i have a very old notebook and yes, i already have a extra wifi card. but i think, my pda would do a better job and it would be one extra device less to 'carry'.
is there any way to use 'internet sharing' with wifi (- not with gprs!)? don't get me wrong on this. i've searched the forums and there are many answers to this question describing how to use the device as a wifi router or to connect via wifi... this is not what i'm asking for! i have a wifi router at home, i've connected my device successfully via wifi, and now i want to share this connection via usb.
any suggestions?

So this is my problem: no matter what cooked rom I've had on my HD i always have the same annoying problem. I can't update My Location weather on the today screen, at home where I have a DSL connection to the web and a WIFI router. At work when i connect to the wireless network i am able to update My Location weather. does anybody know what the problem is ? Thank you.

My Location work via WiFi ONLY.
Also i see a BUG in My Location you can test it for yourself hope soon someone to find solution.

"My Location" works as long as WiFi is on. You can use any connections that you like as long as keeping WiFi on and not connected to any network.
It works, if I'm not mistaken, along with Google Maps and thus for the very first time when you update it'll ask to allow or disallow google maps to collect datas... allow it.
i ever have any problem with it ever since more stable version of the manila/sense came out. i usually update "My Location" via USB ActiveSync with WiFi on.

Maybe check your router setting and security setting. I tried in my wifi connection in my school and it worked fine.
