Does anyone know where I could get one?
I saw my friend charging his iPhone 4 with a small device hooked to the usb port of the phone. ...
The phone has a pretty ok battery life but it tends to die out easily after gaming for awhile. Is there such a device for the xperia play so I could bring that device to school and charge my phone while lesson continues?
Are you meaning something like this - http://www.amazon.com/External-1800...ZOXA/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1312069786&sr=8-9

The first one..
Is that a good brand to buy?
That seems to be the best rated - http://www.amazon.com/MiLi-Crystal-...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1312155308&sr=1-1
have you looked at the Mugen extended battery pack -http://www.amazon.com/Mugen-Extended-Battery-3600mAh-Ericsson/dp/B0056EYU6K/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1312155655&sr=1-1
it is pretty ugly but seems to do what you want.
yeah I saw the thread.. but its like $90+ and it makes the already fat phone even fatter >_> so yeah.. Thanks for the link though [:
I've been using this for the past couple of years, its great cause it uses a usb output so you can plug any cable into it to charge, holds 5000Mhz too so you can charge your phone a few times over. I would highly recommend this for you. Its also not to big as well.

Veho Pebble 5000Mah
if I were you I'd have a look at this:
Veho Pebble 5000mah portable charger! search google for it, over here in the UK you can pick it up for just under £30.
dirt cheap for what you're getting and charges my Play 2-3 times. comes with loads of different adapters aswell so you can charge basically anything! mainly the play though. I try not to use it whilst Im doing anything though because it seems to heat up if I'm playing a game. Think its somthing to do with the discharge while charging?? but it works wonders while I'm in work! and just wana play games for 8 hours!! ;oP
How long does it hold the charge for?

So a dude i worked with showed me his android phone.. he had a chargeable battery pack on his phone, like it was a case.. and it charged his phone while he used it.. he said it works great, he listens to music all day at work and uses his phone and his 4g is running and his battery power is great, he said it cost like 60 in stores but he got a deal and got it for like half price.. anyone know what he is possibly talking about? I just checked the tmobile site, and two things i came across that sound familiar.. Powermat 2X Mat with Powercube and Galaxy S II PowerSkin. Anyone know? Thanks. Also, is it worth getting something like what he has, or just buying another extra battery and wlaking around with that? I will like to start using my phone as my music player at work (working like 10-12hrs a day)
The powerskin is what that is, and it all depends on if you dont mind the extra bulk on your phone. If you don't mind your phone being a little thicker than yeah .. go with the powerskin .. if you don't want a brick in your pocket (metaphorically speaking) then just carry an extra battery.
I use something similar. I use a Powermat portable charger. I believe with the Powermat mat you have to have a receiver on your phone and it has to be in contact with the mat to charge, but if you get a portable charger it just plugs into the microUSB port and charges like a normal charger. Only thing is is the one I got will only charge my phone about 50 - 60% in about 2 hours because I think it's underpowered. But going around the day with 160% battery is good enough for me.
And I use Google Music a lot too I don't know about 10 - 12 hours a day but yeah.
i just bought a handfull of eBay batteries and leave them in my car
I was just wondering whether external batteries are generally quite reliable, and if so what the best brands are to go for? I am looking for a relatively powerful one - I am not afraid of a little bit of cost, but obviously I don't want to spend masses.
Thanks
Ive got a New Trent and its well built and reliable. The 11000mAH will last you for several days. Have a look on Amazon.
I have a "Just Mobile Pro" or something like that.
4400mAh with 1000mA output.
But the EasyAcc 5600mAh (which I don't have) does sound better and cheaper (on Amazon).
Second new trents 11000mah one that thing is a beast

Thanks not heard of New Trent before. Looks good. Can you confirm it's output charging current though? I can't find the spec on it anywhere. I'm assuming it's the full 1A, as it says it can charge an iPad, but could you please confirm? Looks like I'll be needing one!
Cheers.

It's good and bad . I was on the train heading home from work and I was charging my phone with the Anker charger. I accidentally pressed the power button twice and the flashlight turned on. Sitting across from me was this fairly attractive woman with a skirt on. She automatically crossed her legs and looked at me weird. I hope she doesn't think that i'm a pervert.

Hah! Good thing I didn't have a mouthful of soda there...
Good thing to remember with external battery packs is that during usage some of the charge goes to charging the battery while some is lost in heat. I think I read some where its normaly 30-40%. So for example a 11000mah battery will give you some where near 6600mah of charge so about 3 and half charges of the HTC One X.
I'm considering either the:
TeckNet® iEP387 7000mAh Dual-Port 2.1Amp Output Universal USB Battery Bank

The heat loss is inevitable but the capacity should be unchanged.
What the heat loss means is that you need more than 11000mAh to charge up the full 11000mAh battery due to the losses.
The tecknet is very good value. I am considering it at the moment

Yes but I'm talking about in the other direction. So once you have 11000mAh in the device and you charge a device that take 1800mAh you will actually use aprox 2520mAh in doing so. My numbers and calculations maybe a little flawed but my point is that you cant do a simple 11000 / 1800 = 6.1 charges as you need to take into account heat loss which is around 30 - 40% (so I read on one of the amazon reviews)
Either way both devices are nice and cost quite reasonable.

Am more than happy with it.

Ah yes of course. Did not realise you were talking about the other way round charger>>phone
Not sure how efficient but if say 10% loss, we still get around 5 times charge with a 11000mAh batt. to a One X.
I am leaning towards the 7000mAh. Not sure if I need it or not...

Also don't forgot not to simply divide the battery pack's capacity by your phone's battery capacity to see how many times it will charge, unless you are charging it with the phone turned off.
With the phone on it is obviously using the usual amount for running the phone, whilst it is being charged. Add the current being drawn for keeping the phone running (say 250mA when awake) for the time it takes to charge (for me 2 hours) and you are looking at 500mAH. Add that to the capacity of your phone battery before dividing it by the capacity of your battery pack to figure out how many charges you'll get from it. Figures used are just for example purposes. Use a current widget if you want to know how much your phone is using.
Plus like a phone's battery, a new battery pack will take several charge cycles to reach full performance. Where as with a phone's battery which only takes about 2 weeks (charging it every day), a battery pack will take that much longer to get the full performance out of, as you wont likely be charging it more than once a week/month.
And then there's the battery indicators. These New Trent ones look sensible, but I once purchased a Proporta Turbocharger 5000mAHr unit. It had three blue LED battery status lights that were always on if charging. If you looked directly at them they'd burn your retinas out your skull. They could be seen from space. Stupidly and comically bright. They HAD to eat into some of the capacity.
Copper losses over the cable at the distances involved in your average charging cable will be negligible. If you really want to reduce it, don't use those silly skinny retracting yo-yo charging cable things that some of them come with. Use a decent quality USB to microUSB cable. The higher the guage of the cable and quality of copper, the less volt-drop there is. I keep a good few of these kicking about at home as they are well made but not too costly, and come with a nice cable tidy clasp...http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-NOKIA-CA-101-CA101-USB-DATA-CABLE-LEAD-5230-/140579882085?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccesories_MobilePhoneDataCables_JN&hash=item20bb36c465

Hi all,
I've been looking around for a new phone for about a month now, with one main goal: to get a better battery life than my Samsung Galaxy Nexus (maguro) provides. I would really love to find a phone that I would not have to charge every day, like in the good old days of my Nokia 3210! The screen could be a bit bigger, but thats a secundary goal....
I am finding it very, very hard to make a choice. Of course there are phones out there that can give me more power (and bigger), like the Lenovo K920, the Huawei Ascend Mate7 or the Sony Xperia Z3, but they also cost around 400 euro's. I understand these prices, because these phones also give you a bigger screen, with more pixels, a better camera, more RAM and ROM and a faster processor etc. But actually, at the moment, I don't really need all of that. I am content with the size of my gnex, I use it to browse, whatsapp and occasionally to stream something to my tv. I don't play big games or use a lot of social media. And thanks to FML, I can almost get a stock version of Lollipop on my gnex, which is nice.
Can't I just buy a bigger battery and be done with it for a while, make it last another 6 months? I still have the stock 1750 mAh battery in my gnex it came with, there must be something better available?
I have 3 questions:
1) what is the best battery replacement at the moment that fits inside the original gnex backdoor?
2) what are my options if I am willing to settle for a backdoor that is a bit bigger?
3) are there any smartphones out there that focus solely on battery life? I haven't found them, but there surely must be a market for a smartphone that has a great battery life, and a decent (average) camera, screenquality, processor etc?
To solve my gnex battery issues I simply bought 2 replaceable batteries and a battery charger. At the time this cost me about $12 off ebay. This works best for me as then I never have to actually charge my phone with a micro usb charger (arguably the micro usb port is the weakest and most likely part of a gnex to break) and can just charge the batteries separately; leaving my phone mobile and not stuck to a wall for hours at a time. When I go out I put a spare charged battery in my wallet to swap it out when my battery runs low. It's also great when travelling as places to charge a phone are more limited but having a separate charger means you can use a sneaky power port without leaving your phone.
I haven't looked into getting a larger or 'better' battery personally, however one of my friends bought one that required a fatter backing case (at the time the biggest battery for gnex) and he said that could last him the whole day but meant he couldn't use any of the gnexus cases.
Quick note about gnexus batteries: The NFC chip for a galaxy nexus is built into the battery (don't ask me why), if your buying a cheap battery it will most likely not have NFC unless it's an official samsung gnexus battery from samsung. Not sure how much this effects you, I personally don't use NFC let alone find it important enough to warrant an extra $30 per battery.

thank you for your extensive reaction, but alas: I've retired my great gnex. My micro USB port did cave in, and I could only charge putting the phone in an upright position. I could have used it fine, but I got the chance to get a Huawei Ascend Mate 7 cheap, and it is holding it's own so far: 3 days and 3 hours on one charge and still I have 13% left!
Anybody try any of the ~$15 battery cases on eBay from China? About 10 listings pop-up without trying, but all seem to be the same, from the description anyway... Just seems like for the money if it even extends battery life 50% it is a bargain.

Any news on this? Seem very interesting. Will also buy a new battery, but this will be better than the LG G2 battery mod.

Sorry... Forgot about this thread. The battery case worked fine although I didn't get to test it much as I sold the phone and case a couple weeks later to a guy in rough spot for next to nothing. He is still using it a few months later with no problems.
I got one of this and I rather use power bank to charge it
Cons:
Little to no protection on the phone, I have to cut a rubber case in order to use it
No pass-through charging. The case itself will NOT charge when your phone is in the case. At the end, you got 100% on your phone but 0% in the case, even you have already plugged in. So if you need to charge both devices, you have to take them apart and charge them seperately.
Slow charge rate, the case charges N5 slow when you are using it at the same time, so the juice perecentage will probably still drop, but slower.
Heat. This thing is warm or even hot when operating under heavy usage. With its build quality, I did worry about something bad could happen.
Comment:
It is not so good and the build quality is also average. But since it is the only battery case that we can buy after 3 years, it is still useful as a backup battery. Just don't use the phone heavily on the go when the case is chaging your phone. (That's why I switched back to power bank…)
So my z play battery is acting up, mostly it dies suddenly from ~50%, but does some other strange things too, so I'm thinking its time to change it. Anyone have to change theirs out yet? What battery did you choose? I've seen Chinese knockoffs, OEM batteries and these so called "premium" x-longer batteries, has anyone tried those out before?
Attached pic of battery use. Quick drop off and guick recharge all around 50%

with batteries on these recent phones I would try to stick with OEM. Long ago with the removable batteries, I experimented widely, but for some reason, not now...
I would also be tempted to play with that battery by draining if completely a couple of times, but it may just have a bad cell in it. Was your most frequent charge by slow? of fast?
I've had it drain a few times and messed around with it, with really no change. At first I thought it was due to the ROM, for example it started when I'd plug it in to charge, and it wouldn't recognize being plugged it, I had to unplug then plug it back in to get it to charge right away, so its been this way for a little while. Maybe I'll get both and see how they compare and share my results. I've read good things about the x-longer batteries
Sorry forgot to add, I always charge it with the turbo charger it came with

My bet is your battery has a bad cell. Whether fast chargers cause this or not is anybody's guess. Grab a youtube teardown vid and go for it. (replace the battery)

Would be really interesting to see your feedback on those batteries. I've seen those reviews too, but they were too good to be true, had even the impression the sellers making them up.
Just ordered an x-longer, coming from Germany so hopefully in 2-3 weeks I'll have it. Only a few bucks more then an OEM battery, so I'll give it a shot

I ordered it off of ebay, and it was ok. I dont have my z play anymore but the battery was finicky with charging, it would refuse to charge to full at times, but it did last as well as the oem one. maybe it was due to an issue with my phone, but overall it was a pretty good battery
