Everytime i boot up my epic this appears:
The application Titanium Backup (process.comkoushidutta.rommanger) has stopped unexpeectedly. Please try again.
This also appears everytime i boot into Facebook, Rom Manager, Google, XDA App.
Im running ACS Syndicate ROM v.1.2
Also, what Kernel fits Syndicate ROM the best and how can i change my lock screen into a puzzle?
And how do I put my phone back into stock? Just in case I have to send it back you know?
Thanks For All Your Help!
Odin and reflash and don't change kernels
Srf has that problem where it well just fc everywhere after a flash
Don't bother changing kernels cause they're the most dangerous flash plus you get a pretty good one with srf
You won't have to send our back but if you wanted to use odin
If you want the puzzle lock flash a7 lock theme or how ever many locks there are
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
Uninstall ROM manager. It does not work well with most Epics. Then boot into Clockwork with 3 finger from power off and clear cache and Dalvik.
Do I Have To Wipe Each Of Them 3x Or Just Once?
And will that fix all my other apps from force closing?
Also, everytime I send a text it won't go through UNLESS I stay in the text messaging area. If I send a text and then for instance go back to my home page the message won't send. Any help on that?

Well first off SRF 1.2 doesn't come with a kernel.
Now to the OP:
When I have used SRF in the pass I preferred Vision. YMMV!
One thing you want to do is enablejournaling to get that go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071723
For a pretty good theme with the locks go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1099701
Make sure you read the instructions and understand them before doing any of this.
As far as going back to stock go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052813
For step by step video's on all of this check out qbkings link in my sig.
Thanks!
But as far as apps, they still force closes
CAN THAT BE STOPPED!?
Also, what is "overscroll glow" and how can I get it?
And, where can I download the black market from?
@Taz what exactly is "journaling"?

Journaling does a extra write to ensure a good copy of data.
Not sure about "overscroll"
You might need to reflash the ROM boot up to your home screen let the media scan complete then reboot to CWM and flash journaling it won't fix the issue but will prevent it from happening again.
Okay & I just ran into another problem:
Everytime I open my music player it plays one song then freezes
By journaling would it fix this problem?
Also, it seems as if when I send a text the message doesnt send unless I stay in the message area for instance:
I send a message then go back to the home scren. The message won't send
I send a message & waits for it to send. The message sends.

Ok have you reflashed then enabled journaling? if no then that is where you start. You will continue to have problems till you do this. If you still have problems get back to us. I suspect you haven't done anything yet.
See everytime I try & download the journal, the download forces close just like the apps, so I'm sorta stuck

Download to PC and copy to sd card. Did you download the ROM wireless? If so you could have a bad D/L as well.
No i downloaded syndicate via PC, but my computer is down now so I've bee doing wireless downloading and recently used ACS Updater to get this theme.

I would recommend copying the journaling by PC. You still have to reflash.
Okay being that I cannot get access to my PC, is there any other way to do this? The only positive in this scenerio is that I can get into clockwork and titanium backup.

You need a PC if you can't get it to move over cuz of crashes use CWM and mount sd card that way. Just do your back up FLASH your ROM if it is still on the card use PC to copy then enable journaling. If you have drop box on the device and it don't crash when open drop box it. Regardless you HAVE to REFLASH before you do anything else. Do you still have a nanback up? Go into CWM and restore from that to get yourself up and running till you can get all files you need onto your device.
Thanks all I had to do was flash the rom
Now should I upgrade my kernel to genocide or stay on twilight?
And I'm downloading the journal now, but how will I know if its on?
Edit: Ahh I found out what the problem is.
I have journal & all, but whe I installed the "shake & bake" theme, my apps started force closing.
Are there any good themes similar to that particular one?
Edit2: After installing the theme and the problems occurrred again, I reflashed my rom but now I keep getting force closes even without the theme. Any help?

So I've got this notification that will not go away. (clearing does nothing).
When I tap on it, it says it's downloading an upgrade to what appears to be stock voicemail mail. When done, it asks
Code:
This is a system application. Do you still want to replace it?
All previous user data will be saved.
When I hit "OK", I get the standard install approval screen, hit "install", then get bounced to a screen that just says "Application not installed" with just a "done" on the bottom.
Seeing as how I use Google Voice for my voicemail and not sprint, I could care less about the regular voicemail app, but being able to get rid of the notification would be great.
Any help in trying to remove this annoying notification would be awesome.
Thanks!
Just delete the sprint vvm.apk from /system/ and that should do it.
I'm having the exact same problem. I've tried moving the vvm apk out from underneath after the download finishes and the install is about to start, and no joy. I still get "not installed."
Thoughts?
I'm guessing that I have to remove this file using something other than Astro? Keeps telling me that it can't delete files, looks like the permissiosn are read only, and I can't find a way to change the permissions.
You need to be rooted to write to system. Then you can use adb or root explorer.
Sent from my FROYO'D EVO using xda app
If you're using a custom ROM Sprint stuff may not update because the developer of your ROM signed it. Check for updates with your ROM developer (website or an update tool), most of the developers have already made their own VVM update from Sprint's release.
Just another hole to cover so we can't root, just a thought.
Same problem here. Renaming the .apk via adb then rebooting did the trick.
Guys, I figured this one out today.
I got the same "unable to install" message when I tried to install the new one. First thing I did, was uninstall the stock one using Titanium backup, but any method should work the same. Then rebooted the phone and tried the install again.
It went through with no problems. Check my sig for info, but I think this should work with any custom ROM.
Also, please note that I had a copy of the install file on my SD card and I accessed it via EStrongs file explorer. Again, I don't think it matters which file explorer you use, but having it on your SD card may be the key.
Edit: I used this link to get the file on my SD card:

Did you follow my previous post?
1) DL the file on the link I provided from another thread on here.
2) Mount your SD as disk drive and click and drag it onto your SD card.
3) Uninstall the current voicemail app on your phone (if you don't have Titanium backup paid version, you will need to use Astro or another app that can uninstall apps from the phone)
4) Reboot your phone.
5) Use a file explorer to find the zip file you put on your phone, and install it.
You should be good to go.

I followed these instructions step by step and I can get the voicemail app to load but it doesn't work. I don't get my messages, I hit the "check for updates" button and get a box that comes up and tells me there was a general error. I've updated my profile and my prl. Please let me know what I need to do to get this fixed. I'm on BS 1.5.

Well, I am not an expert by any means. I can tell you that this worked for me the first time I tried it. By any chance, can you install the old version back on? Or, did you back-up your ROM in any way where you can go back to the way your phone was before you started so at least the old app is on there and working?
If not, hopefully someone can chime in who knows more on the subject.
easiest way of fixing this should be to use SteelH's flashable vvm update zip found on his rom thread here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743781
I think it works on any rom.

I did the following steps and still no go.
1. Flashed SteelH's zip.
2. Updated my profile.
3. Updated my prl.
4. Rebooted.
5. Called my cell and left two voicemails.
I never got a notitication and when I try to check for updates I get a general error. And when I hit the button to change my greeting, a box comes up saying it will connect me with my voicemail, but nothing ever happens.
I found an old version of the voicemail app and tried that and I get the same results. I must be doing something wrong or there is something wrong with my phone.
Any ideas for me to try, would be greatly apperciated.

Sorry - that link will only solve the issue in the OP - how to update to the latest version of vvm (v5.1.0.34), and get rid of notifications that a new version of vvm is available.
You're having a different issue - you're having an issue getting your message notifications. Can't help you with that one.
I just restored back to a version of BS 1.3 I backed up on Monday and my voicemail worked. But I got the voicemail upgrade message so I then flashed SteelH's voicemail zip and it now works perfect. I get my messages and notifications. Now I guess I try to load BS 1.5 again. But that'll wait until another day, I don't have the time now to completely wipe my phone and set it back up.
Thanks for the help.

no prob - and BS 1.5 includes the latest vvm too, so you won't need to use that zipfile again.
edit - just noticed you were on BS before all of this - I guess it was those other steps that messed things up for you.
I don't know what happened. I was working fine until I went to BS 1.5. When I went to BS 1.5 the notification to upgrade my voicemail was gone but my voicemail didn't work, that's when I started not getting my messages or notifications. And then I started trying to load different versions of the voicemail app and trying different things. But I agree with you, it's probably something I did while setting my phone back up after BS 1.5 and didn't know I did it.
Thanks again.

Okay, this is slightly different from being stuck on 'starting download' My market will download just fine, up to 100% and just hang, it takes multiple cancels and restarts for it to actually INSTALL what i'm trying to install.
9/10 times it will stall on 100%, meaning the green bar will be filled up with progress, the amount downloaded will be equal to the file size, but it will never transition to "installing"
Also, my microSD card will have the download under the downloads folder, and depending on how many times i had to cancel and restart the download, it will have Download-1, download-2, download-3 etc etc filling up the folder.
Never happened on 2.1, but every FroYo ROM i've tried starts to get this behavior after a while. what gives?
Did you try to reinstall gapps? What version are you using?

Thanks for this post. I've had lots if trouble getting market downloads to start. Since reading your post I've found that as long as I'm signed into gtalk it works just fine.
After rooting my sprint evo 4g my market no longer works. I have tried the advice from gat (gadgets and tablets) but that did not work. What do I do???
Need more specifics. "Not working" is very general haha
Does this mean:
1) Won't load
2) Won't download apps
3) Isn't showing up at all
4) Is just force closing like it's its job
It will let me even search for an ap most of the time but will not let me download and will force close every time. This puts a damper on tethering because I cannot download the wireless tether after root ap. I'm still on clockwork mod and rooted via unrevoked
I'm actually downloading another ROM, MikFroYo 4.5, in hopes that flashing another ROM would give the market another chance to work properly. All the people I know that have rooted androids, including one with an evo, have fully working markets and can still download aps. I am not sure of another way to get the wireless tether after root or titanium backup. I have been trying to learn from forums and google but I seem to be coming to a dead end on this topic. It seems to be happening to some other people but nobody has given them a useful answer it seems. The best answer I found was from GAT but they were specifically doing the process on a tablet and after trying this process my market was still a lame duck. Also, while someone is checking on this thread (thanks so much by the way, this is the second time I tried to get some feedback on this forum and the first went by unanswered for about a half a week), what would be a good ROM that would not take away 4g capabilities, let me get an ap back like sprint t.v. but still allow most sprint aps (nascar, blockbuster, nova, etc.) to be deleted (although I think I can do this with titanium backup if I can ever get it downloaded), improve speed and battery life, and not be very glitchy/buggy?

clockwork standard untouched from unrevoked and now mikfroyo 4.5...still no luck. I'll try another ROM but I think I have to have a new market or something like that. Is ruu unrooting?
Are you wiping data and cache each time you flash a new ROM? If not, you probably need to.
Are you restoring apps with Titanium Backup after flashing the new ROM? If so, only restore user apps (i.e. don't restore system apps). I've seen some squirrelly things happened when restoring system apps.
Last thing, from your home screen, try going in to Settings...Applications...Manage Applications. Tap on the "All" tab at the top and scroll down to Market and select it. Tap on the "Clear Data" button under Cache.
think i got it under control

If it is RLS 5, don't fret. Download the adfree app from the market and install it. After installation, initiate the app and select either "revert" for ads or "update hosts" for no ads and then reboot your device. You'll be good to go afterwards. The version that is cooked into RLS 5 has an outdated host file and thus the reason for your crawling internet browsing.

I've used several versions of Z, including Warm Z and that should not be occurring, my friend. Internet speeds via 3G is noticeably fast on it. If you have the time, go back into recovery, wipe EVERYTHING except the SD card itself and then reflash Warm Z. Also, when you first enter into your homescreen and start the setup process, there is a screen that asks if you want mobile & WiFi or just Wifi ONLY. Make sure you select the mobile & wifi option.
I did select both but I will try that again after clearing all the options.

Okay. Are you, by chance, using amon RA as your recovery? If not, download it from here: http://goo.gl/cgh5e and place it on the root of your SD card. If there is another file called PC36IMG.zip, move that file to a folder. To install amon RA:
Shut down your EVO and then press & hold the volume down button while pressing the power button. When your EVO starts, you will be directed to the Hboot screen where amon RA zip file will be automatically detected and you will be prompted to install it. Follow the prompts to install. Installation will take less than 10 seconds to complete. Afterwards, reboot into recovery.
Go to the WIPE menu and wipe EVERYTHING except the SD card.
Go to the FLASH menu and flash Warm Z and then REBOOT.
Ok I will try that and report back soon with what happens.

I reflashed srf 1.2 and the genocide kernal because I was having alot of buggy issues. Everything is working alot better but I have noticed one thing that is kind of irritating. I can send text, pic, and movie texts fine but when I try to add an attatchment and select audio to send a sound it comes up with this message.
The Application Message (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Then there is a button that I have to push that says force close.
It only does it when I am trying to send a sound. Very annoying. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do?

A typical troubleshoot response in that thread would be for you test the possible bug after each completed step below:
Clear the program's cache: Settings > Applications > Manage Applications, locate the app, open that drill down screen and clear the cache.
in CWM under the advanced menu, use "fix permissions"
in CWM, clear your cache and Dalvik cache.
in CWM, wipe both caches, then reflash the rom (not wiping your /data)
in CWM, wipe both caches and data, then reflash.
Many issues have been attributed to bad flashes and/or bad downloads, so those steps are used to help weed out the bulk of the bad bug reports.
If this feature not working annoys you enough, feel free to give those steps a try.
Could also try clearing the app data.

I have had these errors a few times myself (android system, acore, gapps, messaging, etc errors) and I have not been able to figure out the root cause yet but just wiping Cache and Dalvik hasn't worked for me. I had to actually Odin a few times. I am constantly testing different themes, hacks, etc. so I can't say its a ROM issue specifically. I would say to start fresh and make sure to add journal on zip. The people getting these issues seem for the most part (maybe not everyone) to be running journal off

So I am kind of a noob when it comes to all this. I should probably read a little more, so what is a journal?
Also when you say start fresh do you mean use odin and go back to stock eco5?
Then re-download all my stuff clean and flash again.

Yes sir. When I say start fresh, I do mean Odin to stock and re-root and everything. Right below the link for the 1.2 ROM is a link to flash the journal on zip. I don't know the best definition for what journaling does but if you drop your phone and battery pops out or your battery dies, you won't get a bunch of force closes. It writes system info to a file as a backup protecting you from data corruption and other issues. If you have had issues on SRF 1.2, try the journal on zip. People are split on using it because you get a very slight performance boost with no journal but your phone is much more stable with it.

Been answered a bunch of times, so check out the above links.
Start fresh 9/10 here means Odin back to stock without restoring any data from backups. This is used as a troubleshooting step in order to remove any potential anomalies when testing a possible bug.
