if you remove the cradle from dock the tab should fit in gtab 7 dock. Anyone tried that?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJAjNDuPf6k&feature=related
Thank you +1
anyone know if the mirror cutoff was due to his tv or something with using the 7 dock on the 10.1?
also taking out the cradle from dock looks like not possible without breaking it.
the dock works fine. You have to have a power adapter plugged in for it to display on the television. The problem that person had with it cutting off the screen was that his tv was overscanning. It is a setting that can be modified on the television. It does however leave the notification bar at the bottom, unlike the xoom which removes the bar. Because of this the tv does not display the full screen. On the xoom the bar is removed and it does fill the entire screen. Also, you can remove the little holster from the dock. I cut it to allow the back to be supported by the original holster. I also put a piece of plexiglass in between the dock and the tab to fill the gap created by how mch thinner the tab is than the 7 inch tab.
thanks for the cradle info. hows the picture quality is it about the same as gtab 7
This looks awesome. Thanks for the info

i think the output looks good except for the bar at the bottom and it not filling the screen fully. I hope they update it to work better in the future. If I have answered any questions you have had, I really would appreciate a thanks. I'm lacking any thanks for my posts and look like too much of a n00b.
Thank you (added)!

Hey all, I work in at a desk job where I am allowed to listen to podcasts and music all day so I use my phone all day every day at my desk. Currently I have the droid incredible that has the charging usb port on the left side and the headphone jack on the top. This allows me to lean my dinc against my monitor stand and put the bottom part on a gel pad so I can easily do things on the phone without it slipping down on my desk and falling flat. The phone rests at about a 110-120 degree angle so relatively vertical. This set up is perfect for me and allows me to have my phone right in front of my keyboard easily visible and accessible.
This leads me to a question with the Galaxy Nexus. This will be my next phone and my only gripe is that the usb port and headphone jack are both on the bottom of the phone which makes it so I cannot simply set my phone on the gel pad and lean it against the monitor stand. My question is, does anyone know of any phone stands that allow the phone to be positioned in such a way but have enough clearance on the bottom to plug in the usb cable and headphone jack? I have looked at a couple on amazon but they all seem to block the bottom still. I know the nexus s has a similar design so I was curious what kind of cradles they created for that phone and I like the vertical charging cradles but none offered audio out. I'm worried that will be the case for this phone as well.
Please offer your suggestions on a good stand to fit my situation. Thanks in advance!
I *think* this might work for your particular circumstance, although I'm not sure if the "flap" of the stand is going to block the headphone jack. If it does, you might still be able to use it sideways.

yep, and im used the sgp stand, and is great, you can find it on stg website.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have an elago stand for my galaxy tab 10.1 and love it. Unfortunately I don't think it will work for the nexus. I think the tab at the bottom would be in the way of the headphone jack .

I've also considered this mount. I am worried though due to the contoured shape of the nexus as well as the textured back. I'm not sure how well it would adhere to this. Something to consider though...Thank you!

Yeah, the official vertical charging dock would be a perfect fit, and it also has audio out.

Agreed. It would be the perfect storm if it was big enough to fit a nexus with a case on it. Oh well, guess you can't win them all...

Is there one out or could one from Tab 10.1 be used instead? Accessories selection seems rather light at the moment so I thought I'd ask. Thanks.
I used a jigsaw to take off the corners of the tab 10.1 desktop dock (bought it for $3.82 @ hhgregg). It works great.

Can you take a close up pic of the modification u made? I'm not beyond a little hardware hackery to make an available dock work.
Do you guys think this Tab 2 10.1 Desk Dock would work with Note 10.1 by any chance?

The old universal dock EDD-D100 fits. It has an audio jack, but no HDMI builtin. But you can link the HDMI-Adapter EPL-3PHP between the power supply and the dock to add HDMI output to the dock.
I haven't tested the audio jack, but HDMI output works.
(As a new user, I'm not allowed to post links here yet, but you can easily google the items with their product number.)
Here's a few picks of both the regular desktop dock and the keyboard dock. The keyboard dock required some sanding to get the note to fit but the desktop dock just required trimming around the edges. The tools I used were a jigsaw and some sandpaper.

I find it disappointing that Samsung doesn't create a dock that has HDMI out so you don't have a cluster of cables/adapters. USB ports would be nice too.

Seems I saw this keyboard/dock for the Note 10.1 on the european site. I have the one for the Tab10.1 and am still deciding whether to mod it or not.
I also want a replacement for my samsung folio/keyboard.....no mod will make that fit right
In the meantime, bought a folio/keyboard off Amazon by iLuv. Unlike on the iLuv site, the seller on amazon lied and said it was for the note as well as tab 10.1 and tab 2 10.1. It works but really doesn't fit right and I will probably return it.
Early adopter hell, eh?
Yea I'm just buying a sleeve for now until we have some quality keyboard cases out

Did you take the black part off to cut it? There doesn't seem to be an easy way to take this thing apart unless there are screws hidden under the friction pads (which I'd like to avoid removing). Can you specify where and how much you had to sand to get it to fit? I trimmed the edges quite a bit with my Proxxon (like a Dremmel) but it doesn't seem to want to go down all of the way and I'm not sure what's keeping it from connecting.

I was just going to edit my post with that...let's see what kind of damage I can do now =)
Update: It seems that the "sanding" (or carving with a Proxxon) needs to be done at the bottom of the tray. I kind of regret carving off a few layers from the back support.
The additional work need for this mod beyond the giving it more horizontal space only makes me dislike those litigious jerks at apple even less. The squared off edges have to be a result of that for this and the tab 2.
Finally got around to modding mine. used a dremel. Didn't just chop the ends off, as I was trying to preserve the look. but having to dig that groove out was a real pain and lead to various other scuffs. Would love to have a fresh go at it after learning what it took, to do it more cosmetically pleasing, but with the note in it, it still looks pretty good
The tab desktop dock works great bought one at best buy no modifications were needed for the Note 10.1

I,too, am using my old galaxy 10.1 universal dock for my note. Works well.
I just cut the edges of the guide(that black thing) from the P7500 keyboard dock but that connector doesn't fully go inside the tablet, any ideas?
Does the HDMI from the Tab media docks work with the Note?

did same thing works great.
I picked up the official Samsung S3 Desktop Dock today, and really like it.
I almost passed right over it, as it has Galaxy SIII in big letters on the box, but in tiny print underneath it says that it is compatible with the SII and Note.
I've got a few cheap plastic stands that I have been using to stand my phone up to view on my desk, but the S3 dock is a lot better (and also cost about 10 times the price).
What I like:
1. It still works with with my Capdase soft jacket rubber case on. (I tested this in the shop before buying it)
2. The front edge is low enough that it is still easy to use the menu, home and back buttons. Some of my other plastic stands have a higher front edge that means I have to lift the phone up with one hand to press the menu or back button.
3. The shortcuts on the dock homescreen are customisable. (this would be the same with any dock though that puts the phone into dock mode)
4. Audio out works well - if you are playing music and take it out of the dock, it continues playing through the phone speaker. If you then put it back in the dock, it continues to play via the speakers connected to the dock. This means that if I pick up the phone to do something that I'd rather have it in my hands for, and then put it back in the dock, I don't have to go into my music player to restart the music playback.
5. It is pretty much exactly the same width as my Note with the Capdase cover on. This makes it look really neat and tidy. Like it was made for the Note, rather than the s3.
6. The stand folds down and into the body, so the stand is flat on the top and bottom is you need to chuck it in your bag. Also, the stand is a decent weight, so it feels sturdy even if you are tapping at the top of the screen.
Pics attached for reference.
Is there some place for the thicker back that is integrated with the flipcover?
I don't have a flip cover, so I'm not sure. The Capdase cover adds 2-3mm thickness, and it still fits.

Hi
Is there any dock keyboard or case keyboard with slope screen regulation (like in Asus Transformer)?
Next important thing is to can use camera with this dock/case.
That's what I'm looking for, doesn't have to necessarily be a case for me but want something it snaps into so it's sturdy in the lap and stays propped up

I have looked seriously hard to find this and I could never come up with anything. I wanted to buy a transformer, but my sole purpose in a ten inch tab was for handwritten notes, so the transformer failed the test in that regard. The best you are going to find, I think given my searches, are using a bluetooth keyboard with a folding stand case. That's all I could find.
Hopefully one of these days samsung releases their keyboard for the US version, I think the tablet snaps into it but doesn't fold up like the asus

Transformer it isn't a good choice.
Trust me I had it... Of course Asus make a lot of updates but there are a lot of bugs too.
Strange, because Samsung love to make money on accessories and we have only some good dock for ipad and exactly transformer.

So because I'm new here I cant post any new links, but if you go on amazon and type this "ANS1IN-BB0" into the search bar you should find the Zagg Bluetooth Folio Case for 10 inch tablets. I'm not sure if it covers any needed ports, but it would definitely cover the S-Pen. But with tablet design most keyboard docks cover the S-Pen anyway considering its on the bottom of the device. It basically gives any 10 inch tablet a clamshell "laptop" profile.

Asus Phonepad X Keyboard
I found this possible option for a bluetooth keyboard with slope control. Of course I think it would be too loose for the GT-N8000. But with some modification, maybe a little padding on the inside, I think the GT-N8000 would fit inside it just fine. The other problem would be that it covers the charging port, but if that doesn't bother you and if you're willing to do a bit of modifying then this could be a good solution. Once Again, I'm not allowed to post links, but i'm sure you can look it up. Its the Asus Padphone X Mobile Dock. Its a Bluetooth keyboard that the tablet fits inside of, but it doesn't have any of the ports that most Asus Transformer Keyboards have.
Looking for a good keyboard/cover for my Note 10.1 that lets me use the docking connector (charge/OTG while typing) but so far nearly everyone one I've seen has the note rest flush against the bottom of the case so I cant access the port. Is there one on the market that keeps the note raised up enough to use the connector without turning the note upside-down (which makes the wake/volume buttons and the headphone jack inaccessible)

That's what I do, too. Also, I have the Samsung Book Cover and the Note fits in the dock with it on.
I only wished I'd've bought more than one of these when I had the chance: Motorola Wireless Keyboard and Trackpad. It's perfect for traveling (I keep one in a keepcase that I carry the note around in). It's thin, has a cover that doubles as a stand, integrated trackpoint mouse and charges via MicroUSB. Picked up one on sale for $40 and haven't seen it that cheap since.
I had a galaxy tab 8.9 and still have the original Samsung keyboard dock. If you take out the black plastic insert (it pops out along the top edge), the Note10.1 fits in relatively well with the bookcase cover still on. The extra thickness of the cover actually works pretty well to support the tab given that the custom insert isn't in there.
Not perfect, but you can still pick up keyboard docks for the 8.9 or 7 relatively cheaply on Amazon. ($30 less than perfect vs. a $100 import from Asia)

Quick question - Does the blue light on the keyboard stay on when your Note is docked and charging? I thought mine did initially but now it doesn't consistently stay on. It also seems to charge slower (but that could just be my imagination).

I'm not sure - I never charge while it's in the dock. The blue light seems to come on intermittently for me - not sure why. At first I thought it was strictly for caps lock, but it is not consistent.
