I am tempted to S-OFF my wildfire S with XTC Clip.
But I am undecided if it is the right thing to do.
Is it worth or a software exploit is upcoming shortly?
If developers will release a software hack then I will wait, otherwise I will risk with the XTC clip..
Is the advantage really worth the risk?

Might as well get the XTC clip, nobody is really focusing on unlocking the wildfire S, dunno why really, alpharev team was then just stopped because of the hardware.
Just buy an XTC PayG off eBay! They're very cheap now with the ongoing "clone" war and became also unlimited use!

Where'd you read that the PAYG clip is unlimited too now? I have one of those and if there's a chance to upgrade it with unlimited credits I want to know
Version 1.4.5 is released a couple of days ago. When you plug the clip the first time in, in your PC it updates to the latest version, 1.4.5.
Works perfectly here!

Cool, I just updated to that version and indeed it's unlimited. Guess I'll be offering unlocks for free to XDA members in my region...
Beautiful isn't it? Because of some clones of the XTC clip on the market, they decided to drop the price and make the PayG unlimited!

Surprisingly, it only involved one kidney. Didnlt need it anyway.
O2 UK were offering the Uni free (and may still be) on contracts where you were paying for 500 (or so) free minutes a month

i payed $500 us secont hand for mine and i`m not selling it even for $1200 us ..the new ones ultimate maybe they are better back you wont be able to flash any thing in it.this pocket pc is the best after a while lot of people are going to look for it.. thanxs dekyprio..

Paid only £150 with O2 contract for 18 months for £35. Now the contract is finished. O2 do not lock their phones over here in UK, and I am using it with Three sim (unlimited data). AWSOME.
I will never sell mine ... nothing on the market beats it.

a friend of mine flying tomorrow to amsterdam for a week and i asked him to look for htc desire there...after a few googling i found that the most popular store in amsterdam that sells this device is Belcompany.nl...they have a lot of them in the city there...
as i understand from this page the device cost 479euro?

From Belcompany ( a sub contractor/seller) = mostly sim free & unbranded.
@ 4. tax refund is out of my knowledge, I'm local and my Desire is not for sale

BUT: most important, I'm not sure if they have them in stock. It's very hard to get them anywhere in Holland. On a lot of forums you see people complaining about waiting for their desire for weeks...

479 euro is pretty much the going price for a desire in Europe, so this is going to be an unbranded, unlocked phone. Purchase tax, known as BV in Holland, is 19% of this price. Save your receipt and you can get it refunded at the airport on the way home.

Soo it's impossible to buy from them without this 2 year contract?
thing is my friend will stay only in amsterdam...i need stores at that area...the site you gave me if i'm not mistaken none of the store in amsterdam...correct me if im wrong.
if this is the case maybe someone know a specific store in amsterdam contract free?
I saw some in Duty Free in the Amsterdam airport 2 days ago when i flew through there. I bouth mine there in early April, and it was HTC branded and unlocked for 430 Euro.

It is possible to buy the phone without contract. My advise is to call them about their current stock.
Unbranded and sim free.

Thx for your answer...i sent belcompany email and they answered the same...they recognize taxfree the phone is unbranded and simfree...and they recommanded me 3 of their stores in amsterdam to check for desire there...

I just got my Wildfire S-Off using a mail-in service on fonefunshop.co.uk. I read a few reviews to make sure it was legit ^_^ and then stuck the phone in an envelope and spent two days worrying about it XD. In the end I had it back under 48 hours from the time I sent it, and with postage it cost me a total of about £20.
Definitely recommend that solution.

I'm thinking of buying a XTC-clip to finally get my WFS S-off. The only thing is, is that i'm not sure what the most reliable resellers for the clips are...
I've been looking at several websites that have been written in the most horrible English language I've ever seen and none off them seem particularly reliable.
Than there's also the guys from GSM Hosting that are supposedly selling fakes and than there's Raskal's site at www.xtc.hk that looks like it's been typed up by one of those nigerian princes that only needs your social security number and bank account details to transfer the inheritance of his dead uncle's sister in law that used to own a goat with three legs and met you in the bus that one time..
So to make a long story short.. what would be the best place to buy a xtc clip?

got mine off ebay from x-ziggy-x. came from England (GB) and works fine. Don't know if he has any more. Probably just someone from XDA that was done with it.

Got mine from Fone Fun Shop this week and just unlocked my Wildfire S. As some others have mentioned, the main problem seems to be ensuring a good contact between the SIM contacts but that was easy to get around.
I'm happy to unlock for people in exchange for postage and a small donation to cover the time it takes.
