WP7 mango ringtones extracted? - Windows Phone 7 General

forgive me if this exists somewhere... but i was watching some mango videos (i'm on android) and really liked the sounds i was hearing, as far as interactions and ringtones/alerts. i can't find a ringtone/alert dump, just a few here and there, don't know personally if mango offers a whole new sound set or if they're just part of the original wp7, regardless i can't find a collection of either... anyone have this?

Zune Enhanced Now-Playing

So there's been a bit of angst over Zune only providing 'enhanced music metadata' as they call it in MS (the fancy coloured now playing screen with the artists posing in background, mixview, Smart Dj, etc lol you know what i'm on about...) to peeps in the US and thereabouts. There have been alot of people trying to find out why MS disabled this for everyone else and I was also quite disappointed too when my Zune software and Zune WP7 looked positively dull when compared to some US counterparts. So I did some digging
Turns out it's to do with the licensing the "All Music Guide" (wiki Allmusic ...they're also known as Allmusic) has given to Microsoft and what information they can use with all the Zune Softwares (Source: ZuneInsider Podcast)
Undoubtedly everyone's asking how we can access this pleasure for the eye, but the truth is, for now, there is no real workaround short of doing all the Region changing business and mess
The best bet for any real change for the long term I'd say would be to perhaps go to lobby AMG with a "business idea" and tell them to please revise their license with MS Zune divisoin so that International users can see all the fancy pants eye candy They already provide service to iTunes and plenty of other corporations...
(you can do that by going to their Web, scrolling down to bottom and clicking "Contact" then "Business Idea")
Zune have said they're trying to get it fixed through all the red tape so other than lobbying, we wait :/
Anywho, just a fun FYI post Have a Happy New Year!

It is this soft ware report
Windows Mobile music lovers may well remember an excellent but quirky music program for Windows Mobile, called 40iPlay. It was characterised by an excellentsound quality and some usefulfeatures. Unfortunately it ceased to be supported from WM5 SP2 onwards.
Browsing around the Marketplace yesterday, I found a new music player called Phantasm MP , written byCornel Huth, the developer of40iPlay.
As it is only £7.19 (as opposed to $40 the original cost) I risked all and boughtit! Happily, once up and running, the sound quality isexcellent and I've no regrets.
It's not all sweetness and light at present however- setup can be an ordeal to saythe least, as the Marketplacedownload does not include thecomprehensive user guide available from the developer's main site. Initially my copy would not index my music folder, causing repeated lockups, butafter some advice from the developer I traced this to a dodgy music file, since when it has been fine.
Navigation on a capacitive screen needs practice as well, but again, the user guide helps!
One remaining glitch is that the program doesn't seem to be able to keep the device awake, so it will go into standby without sound according to user settings. I've reported this to the developer. Maybe there's something else in the settings that can be tweaked! Fixed: See post 4 for the reason for this!
I'll give it a few days, thenmaybe do a 'Brief Review' butif anyone is interested, the user guide is Here and some screenshots of both Windows and Windows Mobile versions Here !
user fell
Excellent ! - i tried 40iplayon my Orbit2 and it sounded very good indeed by virtue ofbeing able to tweak the soundstage via reverb to givea big sound.
I now use the SRS WOW HD add-on which has a similar configurable 3d effect tho i will definately have a punt at Phantasm for only £7.
The screenshot reminds me of Winamp from a few years back!
no one can help me?

Interested in wp7 but...

Hi all... Well im new here and im glad to find tech fanatics like myself .. I joined in to find ways to make my phone better but i found myself spending most of my time here on wp7 forums.. Im interested in buying one but i have some concerns and i hope someone helps me here...
I need the arabic language so is there any word about an official rom yet? And if yes when will that be?
Im in a place where ppl forgot sms and started using whatsapp instead.. I looked it up and to my surprise i found that microsoft didnt provide APIs that enables apps to access the phone address, which is the core feature of whatsapp... Does anyone know when will it be possible to have whatsapo on a wp7 phone?
And thnx in advance
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
not sure about when you'll get arabic support. the phone can already support it in the fact that your contacts can have the arabic characters in them, and you can receive messages in them, but just can't type in them.
as for extending the APIs to support more features, I believe that PIM and Socket support were two of the most popular requested features and we will probably hear more about it at MIX 2011 conference where hopefully MS reveals additional APIs to support this sort of thing, which would hopefully solve your "whatsapp" issue.
Believe me: I was just like this! I came here to see tips to my android, and caught myself look more and more in WP7 forums. And Brazil, Portuguese, is not supported too.
About the Arabic keyboard, you might look this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=917886
If you Chevron Unlock your phone you can install your own language. That should do it. The only problem is.. Will it work after update? So, or you will be stuck before the Copy n Paste update, or they will find a solution and you will have the best without losing your configs. Anyway, I have an Android, an iPhone 4 and WP7. For sure WP7 have become my favorite one.
I dont miss copy n paste. And I love the Metro UI and all notification system (though it can be better, using the led).
About WhatsApp.. I think they are not that cool with this atitude. Yes, Microsoft API doesn't support their way to work. Okay, so, why not do the app another way? You could input the number!
So yes, there is another way, even if it is worse. But you have the option, at least. They just don't want it. Or maybe they are working in it.
Seriously, you wont regret trading your Android for WP7. Trust me (;

Microsoft Research Touch Studio

I've recently come across the Touch Studio app and I'm loving everything about it so far. The only thing I haven't been able to find is an English forum with ideas and example codes, yes I know most of the code in Touch Studio is still fairly simple and self-explanatory but it would be nice to see what others are managing with it.
I have come across a Swiss site that has a few nice codes and some other awesome stuff. It would be awesome if we could start something like that here. I've now stopped playing in my spare time (sorry devs) and messing around with Touch Studio. This is just another thing that seperates WP7 from the rest, hope MS keeps up the good work.
For those who have never seen Touch Studio before you can find more info here:
http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/projects/touchstudio/
So is it a good place for someone who hasn't done any code or programming a good place to start? Can you use what you write for the phone it is on or does it still have to go to marketplace before it can be used and you have to download what you wrote from the marketplace to use it yourself? Answered. Do you have to get a dev permit(or whatever it is called) from MS to use the program at all? Answered.
Sorry just listened to podcast 48 on Social Times and the stuff you write is only on the phone, not sharable currently. So just the first question for anyone that have used it.
I have coded a few apps for personal use on my phone, and I would suggest microsoft visual studio for coding apps for WP7. There are great tutorials on the microsoft app hub website for first-time coders. I cant post links, but search microsoft app hub and have a look around that website. Very helpful
Yeah, as you noted the apps you write are only useable on your phone. But the latest version has an option for you to share the code.
I'm not sure how easy it would be for someone with zero experience. I did some very basic programming in Visual Basic 4 ages ago so I have the basic understanding of the simplest commands (e.g. IF THEN WHILE etc.). I don't think it is that hard to understand and should only take an hour or so to fully grasp the concept. There are some excellent tutorials online as well.
(Why) is TouchStudio no longer downloadable?

Folks, I have been wanting to try out developing some codes ever since I became aware of Touch Studio (a week or so back). Any idea why Touch Studio is NOT downloadable of late? It appears in Zune and you can read the description but no download facility is available. If the information helps - am using HTC Mozart, T-Mobile, based in Germany. Many thanks!
I was able to download it and run it. Using Samsung focus mango beta 7712
@Jason: Thanks Jason; I'll await the official Mango update (no clue when in Germany / T-Mobile); may be it will work out fine automatically thereafter. I got a comment from TouchStudioApp on Facebook: "we are sorry for the inconvenience; please stay tuned for the next update". Have asked them whether it's Mango or the next TouchStudio app they are talking about.
Yeah, I guess they took it offline till Mango, hope they have something exciting in store with the new APIs and such that Mango will bring.
well, i would love to see someone uploading the xap
edit: downloaded touchdevelop
Just recieved an update for TouchStudio it is now called TouchDevelop. Now it is at v2.0. The whole interface has been redesigned, you can now download and post scripts within the app and they have also revamped various other things. Slightly confusing at the moment but will have a look tonight to work the whole thing out.

For those running Mango: IE bug, need people to confirm

Hey.
I've been doing some development lately (mobile apps for work and the like), and I've notice something isn't adding up on my Mango'd Focus. From what it looks like, Microsoft didn't properly implement the file upload feature in IE9 Mobile.
So for those of you with Mango running devices, try the following:
-Navigate to http://windowsphonehacker.com/uploadtest.html (Short link: http://bit.ly/pFoFSM ) or any other site with a file upload form.
-Try to add a file to the form. In my experience, pressing Browse just highlights the whole browse box briefly and then stops, and pressing the text box to the left brings up the keyboard in a read-only text input.
Here's the source of the page, for those curious:
HTML:
<html>
<body>
<form action='uploadtest.html' method='POST' enctype='multipart/form-data'>
<input type='file' name='testfile'><br>
<input type='submit' value='Submit'><br>
</form>
</body>
</html>
From what I can tell, Microsoft omitted implementing the file upload box. If this was an early build of Mango, I would be less concerned, but I'm starting to think that this bug may very well make it into the Mango RTM. If it does, this is some seriously bad news, especially for me as I would have to not support WP7 in my mobile site, which would just be embarrassing.
Can anyone confirm/add pointers?
Thanks.
Same behavior on an Omnia 7 using the leaked Engineering Mango ROM (XXKH2).
Rather then a bug I believe it is like this by design as there is no filesystem access. Microsoft could theoretically enable you to pick images, videos or Office documents but this looks like they won't be going that route.
Does anyone know how iOS handles this?
Confirmed on LG-E900 with 7720.

Prior to Mango, you could select images for upload (eg, say you're on Facebook Mobile and want to share a photo you took with your friends).
Now there's no way to do that. It could be intentional, but I'm leaning towards a bug on this one.
Same happens for me on HD2 with 7720.68. Could be intentional though - on iOS the file upload button is completely inactive (greyed out). Also, remember they removed find on page and forward, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was removed too.

I'll see if I can get anyone at MSFT to comment on it. After all, maybe it's one of Ballmer's 500 "features." (eyeroll).
I don't get why they removed forward, though. The IE9 browser is so much harder to navigate than the old one... feels like a step back to me.
I'd say it's intentional, especially considering how iOS handles this. Ditching the forward button seems consequent to me, even if not everyone may like it, but missing find in page is really bad.
Same bug on htc trophy official mango rom but i think it has to do with the not implemented file explorer.
Same behaviour on HTC HD7. Worked fine prior to Mango.
