Please help or my wife may kill me! - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Everyone,
My wifes HTC Wildfire on T-Mobile was running like a dog and as I have a samsung Nexus S running Cyanogenmod 7 I suggested putting it on her phone. It took me alot longer to do so but is now rooted and running. Trouble is she hates it.
I need to revert back to the original T-Mobile rom please can anyone let me know how I need to do this. I remember when I had my HTC HD2 I had to flash offcial rom and it wiped all the custom stuff off. I need to do this tonight so if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great.
Many Thanks
James (UK)

You didn't take a Nandroid Backup? Sorry, but in my view this was extremely careless, especially when you remove HTC Sense from someone's phone who is not much of a techie :/
Anyway, Shipped ROM does have a RUU of TMobile. (Eclair only though). You can access that here:
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=windows mobile&model=Buzz

Why not put a sense based Rom like jokerdroid or Dk onto it ?

I know I totaly forgot to do a backup, I had just come home from a nightshift but I no thats no excuse Thanks for the link but I can't see which one I need to select? Would you be able to point me to the correct one please

I want to return it to stock as she is going to send it back as the phone hangs all the time and resets itself.

Please ignore that I have just seen it

Well what do you expect of XDA people? To offer you a repair service?
Just check if that problem matches your case, and if so, send it back to HTC!
THEY will help you.
Ok Ok, i just thinking about it, maybe is any .apk ? what can calibrate my keyboard or something else?
Question mate, i can send phone to T-Mobile in UK if i Load Custom Rom ? i not loosed warranty ???
Thanks
You have a chance that they will not accept the phone because it has custom firmware on it. (Or there has been tampered with)
Best thing is to make a backup of your files, texts, apps, etc. and load a stock ROM back on it by using the official RUU downgrade method.
That way the phone will be reset completely back to stock and they won't know that you had an custom ROM on it.

Quick question before root.

Hi first time poster, please dont flame me if this has been said else where, but most threads have multiple pages with people asking multiple questions and its slightly confusing.
So what i want to ask is....
Im waiting for Android 2.2 to be officially released from HTC OTA (Rumours saying within next 2 weeks) However, im not to confident in HTC as nothing official has been said and i wouldnt be suprised if it got delayed. Now my thinking is, ill root my phone, and install a 2.2 ROM on it, but what i was wondering is, when the official release comes out, could i restore my Desire back to the Stock ROM (Unbranded Desire btw) so i can recieve the update? (I Prefer having everything working over slight improvements in certain aspects + have SENSE although i hate the interfrace. just like the widgets)
Would this be possible?
Thanks for the help.
You won't be able to receive it OTA, but it would fairly quickly make it's way here and you can just flash it from here as you would any other rom.
Edit: Just realisesd you will flash back to stock. If you go back to stock rom then I think you will get it OTA as normal. It's only custom roms that don't get it this way.
So the fact that the phone would be rooted shouldnt cause an issue?
Sorry if these are nooby questions, just scared of breaking my desire haha! cant afford a new
also sorry i think i have seen this else where, just struggling to find it again, but there is an unbranded stock rom available correct? or could i backup my current 1?
wish this was as simple as my g1
There is definitely at least 1 rooted stock rom about, and loads of official stock roms available. I can't remember where I seen the rooted stock one. It's in here somewhere! You can't backup your current rom without root unfortunately.
At the very worst, if you couldn't get the update OTA then you would get it here anyway so there is no problem with that.
Actual rooting will not cause any issues at all. It's fairly safe now.
Sweet! Thanks for the help! Your very kind for not flaming me haha!
Btw nothing against the developers in here! your putting HTC and Google to shame in some places, i just like EVERYTHING working on my phone, dont like broken cameras etc, hence me liking stock
Thanks again!
Lol the devs here are brilliant.
Before you totally decide to go stock, you could try one of pays sense roms. They have everything working perfect, and infact are better than stock for speed, looks, and battery life. There is nothing not working in his roms!
It's really only froyo roms that have bugs so you could just steer clear from them for now.
oh dont get me wrong, im gonna try the froyo, and other roms, i just want to try them out until i settle with 1 for now, i got no problem with them for the short term, just the 1 i stick with i want to work, and to be honest, (going on my g1 root experiance) i never found a rom that worked 100%, but maybe im just being a noob and didnt find any.
Cheers for the advise though, ill have a look for some pays roms now.
Thanks again for help

Can you change rom without rooting?

I have a T-mobile uk branded desire (firmware version 2.1 -update 1 )
(software number 1.15.110.11), I dont want to root as i want to keep the warranty, but the low volume problem is really pissing me off, I tried to watch a film while stuck on the underground today, I could not hear a word of it, even with hi end sennheisers, its really pissing me off!!!
I have been told that switching to the stock HTC rom will solve the issue.
If possible pls explain how? I am an android newb and will need help.
Many thanks in advance.
sadly, no.
But if you have a problem, you can keep a backup of the stock HTC sense rom, and restore it. Additionally, you can restore the recovery to stock (I think i saw it somewhere).
After all that, you are good to go. Warranty still valid, and you can RMA it
Thanks for the reply, pls remember I am a newb, how do I do this???
Root your phone, do what you want with it, just keep this handy...
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127570_signed.exe
It's the current T-Mobile UK stock ROM and can be reflashed at any point to return to stock for warranty purposes (link may go down occationally so keep trying until you have it)...to reflash the stock ROM just make sure you have your Desire connected to your PC with HTC Sync and run the file - simple as that!!
I really dont want to root it to be honest, the phone is perfect except for the media volume! Do you think if I contacted htc they would be able to tell me how to change the rom without rooting it?
You CANNOT change the ROM without rooting, and HTC wouldn't tell you as it's breech of their warranty...just root it, you can always go back to stock if need be using the file I posted
Rooting isn't for everyone. If you have doubts about it, you should not do it. It's better to read some more about it than to hastely brick your phone. Most bricks are solvable these days, but it is no fun to do. If you want root just for the volume, it's not worth it if you don't know what you're doing, imho.
Sent from my Evil Lair using Doomsday Device
I have a T-Mo branded Desire that I have de-branded to a stock ROM, it's been OTA updated to 2.2 and just this morning it OTA updated to the new release all without rooting.
You just need to create a goldcard (very easy using the helper program) which will allow you to install any stock RUU. I have left the goldcard in my phone as it works as a standard microSD anyway to avoid any problems that occur when updating with out a gold card in.
I can't post links as I'm too much of a newb around here but search and the links are there.

Please welcome me?

Hi guys, first off im a user of Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 and swapped it to a 2nd hand HTC Desire HD. To make it short, i want to learn every single thing about this device as how i knew my beloved SGSL. I've read almost all guides for newbies and it helps me alot.
Just want to clarify these questions of mine.
1. What is RUU?
2. A little confused about hboot/fastboot. Cause in my past device there is only Recovery and Download mode wherein in Recovery you wipe cache/dalvikflash custom rom through zip and Download mode is needed when flashing stock rom using ODIN.
3. We use Odin in my SGSL in flashing stock roms. How about here?
4. Is there an internal to external SD swap here? So datas of games will go to external sd card?
5. I want my HTC HD in stock AGAIN. What should i check first before doing anything? After checking whats next?
6. Cant find a list of stock roms here? What do you guys use? the codename like DDLF2 XXKPQ like that.
I'm really sorry. I know you how i feel now, im feeling excited while making this thread at the same time nervous of negative comments and a feeling of unwelcomed in this community. Please bare with me, not a SO NOOB in android and i am a fast learner. Thanks and Godbless to everyone!
Anyone? Please held a hand?
Have you read the Ace Think Tank thread OP? If not, I advise that you do so. Come back if you still have questions.
EDIT: please also only bump once every 24 hours under XDA rules.
Yes ive understand though still have quesions unanswered there. I now understand that RUU is the app used to go back to stock firmware right. So, should i use that first sir? coz i want to start from gingerbread stock and learn everything up ahead. Im from Philippines so maybe i should use latest WWE RUU? Is there no pre requisites in doing this? Thanks for the response. Appreciated.

[Q] Help out a new guy?

Hi.
I am very new to the world of rooting and all that stuff, in fact, I have never even attempted to root any of my phones. I currently own HTC One X (International version) which is running the newest Sense 5 Android 4.2.2. update. I tried to follow some youtube videos on how to root my One X but they are all a year old at least and are demonstrated on the stock version of Sense that was on my One X when I got it.. Now I know I am a huge noob at this but I would just like to ask if somebody can guide me trough or at least give me a link to some kind of guide/tutorial which will work on the newest update for my One X. I am very cautious because I don't want to harm my phone by doing something stupid or wrong. Anyways, hope somebody can spare a minute and help me out. And also thanks for taking the time to read my post!

So this works for Sense 5 update? Does it even matter which version I am running on my phone for rooting?

Things are starting to get a little bit more clear now. I managed to unlock the bootloader so far. Before I go any further, is there anything I should look out for, what could go wrong? I've read that if I mess something up I could brick my phone, how can I avoid that? Also, thanks a lot for helping me out!

after you unlocked the bootloader flash custom recovery. then do a nandroid backup. then flash supersu/superuser then do nandroid backup again. you now have 2 backups of stock rom and stock rom(rooted) and when you flash custom rom make a backup again. eat will eat up space in storage but its better be safe.
