Apologies for another not charging thread, i have tried searching for a similar issue but no luck.
I put my DHD to charge as usual last night at around 40%, the charge LED lit up and the battery icon was showing that i am charging.
When i woke this morning, the charge LED and battery icon were still showing that i should be charging yet the phone now only has 33% battery, so clearly hadnt charged. I checked current widget and when the LED and icon show charging i only seem to be getting anywhere between a reading of 40mA and 270mA. With an occasional 300-400mA reading.
I seem to be able to intermittently get the phone to charge and the batt icon to rise by a percent or two but then it seems to stop again. As i am in work at the moment i am having to charge via USB from my PC. Therefore i am currently unable to try another micro USB charger and see if it is indeed the charger or the phone.
Has anyone else had a similar issue, says it charging but it not??
Or anyone have any ideas of a solution??
If it matters i am currently using LeeDrOiD HD V3.3.1 GB. Id rather not have to return it to HTC as i am unsure of how to return the phone to default easily so it could be repaired on warranty.
Thanks in advance,
James
Firstly, download CurrentWidget, set refresh to 15 seconds, and make sure you set it to display battery voltage. If it is showing around 4200mV, it is charged, and you have a problem with the battery gauge.
To double check, turn off your phone, and see if the light goes green at 100%.
Boot back up, just to see if a reset fixes it.
If not, reboot into recovery, and wipe battery stats (or do it properly, turn off, wait until light is green, wait another hour, then boot into recovery and wipe battery stats).
Turn back on, and see if the problem is sorted.

Hi there !
I hope someone could help with a weird problem.
history:
I've got a T-Mobile MDA compact 3 and I had an issue with my battery. It was completely discharged (~3% left, flashing red) and I was driving / navigating in the car until I noticed that the car-charger was not connected. So I plugged it in - and it was hot in the car... and the battery was GONE.
(I know that a LiOn battery does not like 'hot' ambient temperature, I know...)
At home, I tried to charge it with the power adapter : no luck.
OK, I thought, battery defect... so I bought a new one, Samsung labeld brand, not a 'China' clone.
Now, with the new one I've got the following problem :
- the battery will charge with either USB / car- or power plug charger, BUT it will go from consant organge (ok) to flashing orange (not ok, normally that's "notification" / message arrival) instead of green.
- using the power plug charger, after a night, battery is "empty" again, so charing (constant "orange" LED) -> flashing orange LED -> flashing RED in the morning -> empty
- the "BatteryStatus" tool and the system control panel will show "charging" while charging, but the percentage will never increase (e.g. if I start charging at 30%, it'll stuck on 30%...just displaying "charging"). If I now charge for - let's say 1h, it's still on 30% (despite, that I know it will last for 2 days)
So the problem is, that the PDA doesn't know the actual charging level. But that's also not true: cause if I do a Soft-reset, it's back at 100% (or less if I have not charged fully - which I don't know as it doesn't go to "green LED" anymore.
So again, in short, I always have to reboot to see the current charging level, and I'm missing the "green LED" full charge level (instead "orange flashing LED" notification.
I guess that the levels (low, high, current) are somewhere stored in the registry, or ? I did a hard-reset, reinstalled all applications, but same...
Any hints ? I hope a firmware upgrade would reset the battery status, but as there is no offical firmware for the T-Mobile MDA 3c, I'm stuck... or ?
I have the exact problem on my P3300... When i try to charge with my usb cable everything it's ok...
But when i am trying to charge with my car cable it will go from constant organge to flashing orange... Also the temperature is rising very fast... It has reached to 80 degrees C°
It stop charging when temperature is over 50...
Anyone there to help us???
I get a similar problem.
Allthough, charging on adapter "seems" normal.
Led turns green and battery status via system settings are at 100%.
When disconnecting from the charger, the battery level drops to the exact same level as before charging (example -> battery at 48% -> connect to charger -> after an amount of time LED turns green, battery status is at 100% on the PDA -> remove cable -> battery back at 48%).
Charging in the car or on the computer does not give this problem.
Tested my battery and charger on another unit -> no problem.
Tested another charger and battery on my unit -> same problem.
Device is going back (THIRD TIME in 2.5 months) for repair.
No more Artemis / HTC P3300 for me ......
The other morning I woke up and unplugged my phone and the "Unplug your phone" notification wouldn't go away and the phone thought it was still plugged in. If I rebooted it would just turn off and keep going from the green batter charging icon to a black screen and back. Only way I could turn the phone on would be to actually plug it in again. Problem fixed itself that evening and the phone was fine for a couple days. Today the phone started with the same thing.
I've tried searching but couldn't find anything on this specific issue. Any insight? Thanks in advance.
Brand new ept4g and I got 6hrs of battery life its so lame I have hack so much bad luck with this bad boy but I'm not giving up.

This isn't a battery consumption issue...
Anybody have this problem yet?

I'm having the same problems the last few days. Also when I unplug my phone I get a red exclamation point over my battery widget, when i open the widget it says that the battery is over voltage and the red led light won't go off. Think i'm about to go see what best buy does for me. Been dealing w/ this problem for a few days now.
Did you get a replacement? I haven't had any free time to go to sprint with my problem. It is still happening often though.
I had a similar issue the other morning. Though my phone would only boot back up in recovery mode. I reflashed it to out of the box stock but that didn't make any difference. When it did boot up it would show that it was connected to the usb port but it would not be plugged into anything. I plugged it into a usb port on my computer that I hadn't used with the phone before and it reloaded the drivers on my computer and "that" issue went away. After turning phone off it would start rebooting itself immediately or with in a few seconds of turning off. I let the battery die completely and then recharged it and the automatic reboot went away, at least for most of the day, but last night I turned the phone back off and it rebooted itself. I did reroot and restore my phone after I got it to not show the usb connected or the battery charging while the phone was off icon. Just wish I could figure out why it wants to automatically reboot itself when I shut it off.
Same issue here

My Battery Monitor Widget shows a max of 1500mah? Wtf? And a measured of under 1200?
No wonder my battery life is crazy low...

I figured a way to shut the phone off and not have it automatically reboot. If after shutting the phone off the normal way and once the screen goes black but before the capacitive lights go out, if I again press the power button, the phone finally shuts down without rebooting itself. Not sure why this is happening but at least I can get it to turn off now.
I found better battery life by determining which app or apps drain the battery. I used Battert spy, cpu spy and system tuner. My problem was Touchdown exchange for Androir 2.x. I switched to Moxier Mail. I would get hours on moderate to heavy use. I got 22.5 hours yesterday on moderate use.
Hi
I am running my Nexus with the bootloader unlocked, rooted using superboot and running francisco kernel.
1. I let my device run its battery down so it turned itself off.
2 .I then left it turned off and connected the charger. The Battery icon appeared with the lightning bolt. About 15 mins later I tried to turn the device on (still showing the Battery with Lightning bolt), it wouldn't turn on.
3. I disconnected the charger and the battery with the lightning stayed on the screen. The device still wouldn't turn on.
4. I then pulled the battery, which removed the battery icon, replaced the battery and repeated step 2 & 3 again. The same result occurred.
5. I then pulled and replaced the battery and turned the device on without the charger. The device turned on and had 15% charge. I have now connected the charger and am charging it with Android running.
Is this normal behaviour? It just seemed a bit strange to me?
Cheers
Stewart
From what I've read elsewhere, the offline charging issue is related to the installation of CWM, and it's being looked into.

Ah ok, I forgot to mention that I did have CWM installed!
Thanks for the reply, glad to know that I am not going mad!
Just trying to get my head around this dumb battery charging issue. Seems that some Roms the wife's kindle charges but doesn't say/show anything is actually charging. Some Roms show charging under battery information. All Roms don't show battery charging icon. Also the light on the power button works or doesn't work. Can someone explain all this so I can understand.. Its pretty bizarre.. Thanks
I will try to first give you the short answer then I will make an attempt at the long one. The charging issue is directly related to the kernel.... the long one... the icon will not indicate charging ever... go to about phone or tablet and status plug it in if it still says discharging unplug and replug if it still say discharging reboot then try again.. its common for the light to flicker amber when charging and not remain static at some point it will go green near the end of the charge... bottom line its just the nature of the beast...high usage fast or slow charge erratic indications all part of the animal...

Thanks for the explanation! What you mentioned is exactly what we have been seeing. It does charge so knowing its kernel related thing works for me.
I'm having a similar problem, I know it charges by going to the settings menu. The problem comes from when the Kindle goes to sleep, I always had a light come out of the button, but after installing Jandycane the light wont come on. It's hard to know if it is charging or not, anyone have the same problem?

Everyone has the same problem that's just how it is on JB and I believe ICS roms. The kernel needs fixed, but there are other issues that are most likely higher priority.

I have Hashcode's kernel and have flashed many ROMs. I'm on Hellfire's now . I find that if you charge in TWRP the light acts normal, stays red while charging and turns green at 90%. It may be my particular kf but try it , it might work.

Recently my N7(2013) will shut itself down when the battery is low (about 10%) without any warnings, not even the "Shutting Down" dialog that it should show whenever it shuts downs (except for the usual low batt warning when it reaches 15%). After the shutdown, I cant even turn it back on not even the screen, nor the low batt (waiting for charger) screen is showing up until I plug it into a power source the it will show the charging screen and then I can turn it on again.
Its been a few times now, not sure its a hardware or software problem though. It shouldnt shut down when it still has 10% in it right?
Attached is the screenshot of the Battery Usage that shows the battery level shots down to 0% immediately from 10%.

Are you using a battery monitoring program (battery doctor, better battery stats, etc)? If so, look in their settings, to see if they are set to shut down @ 10%...

Nah I don't trust these apps so I don't use them. Moreover I'm did not root it so even if I use them they shouldnt have the permission to shut it down
Simple fix
It is an issue I have suffered with a couple of times and it appears we are not alone. It seems that the battery calibration is out of whack. When you charge your nexus up does it stay at 100% for quite a while? I
tried factory data resets amongst other things and nothing worked. I stumbled across a thread with a really simple fix. Turn your tablet off for 2 hours. Then turn it on again. Mine miraculously lost 26% of battery in that time (from 100% where it had been for 8 hours down to 74%). Then it started to use the battery at a normal rate. Working fine now.
