So yeah, where I live should not be roaming on Bell's network.
I unlocked a Tilt 2, I am using a Bell sim. I have been able to send/receive texts, voice etc.
However, every time I try to make a data connection it says I am roaming.
I am relatively new to smartphones and unlocking. Could it be that I did not properly unlock the phone (or if I didnt would that prevent me from using Bell's network period?) or is there something stupid I am doing?
Or do I just have to call Bell and get them to straighten their crap out?
I have the same problem Here. Tilt 2 on Bell Network. As I can understand from my search, this is due to the Radio Rom that does not have Bell SIM info as local provider. We probably need to MOD our RADIO to accept bell as local carier
maybe people can help us ?
Thank you
Ok, I've just try with a friend ROGERS SIM card and the phone doesn't roam. Yeah! mabe I found some Q for master people that can help me.
I was on Rogers 3G network without probleme and I found that rogers use same band then Bell 850/1900
so why my phone lookup for rogers and not bell ?
Is there anything I can do to make my T-Mobile Touch Pro2 usable on Verizon's network?
Root it? Unlock it? Anything?
No, the T-Mobile Touch Pro2 is exclusively GSM, and Verizon's network utilizes CDMA technology. You would need to buy a Verizon Touch Pro2 from Verizon to use Verizon's network.
LOL.
AT&T, T-Mobile = GSM
Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular = CDMA
You CANNOT use a GSM phone on a CDMA network and vice versa.
AT&T to T-Mobile??
Hello,
I just upgraded to HTC Evo and moved to Sprint couple of days ago. I am trying to sell my Touch Pro2 to my friend who has a T-Mobile.
My TP2 is currently running the EneryROM, so I am wondering what I could do to get this phone run on T-Mobile.
We inserted his SIM-Card but unfortunately the phone asked for a code because the network is blocked.
I think I can download the T-Mobile's official ROM for TP2, would that work by itself?
Any suggestions?
Thank you

nope... wont work.. you cant just install a rom on the phone and have it work on another network... The phones themselves have to be compatible.. like was said up there.. gsm phones run on gsm networks.. cdma on cdma... now that said.. arent the touch pro 2's with verizon and sprint world phones so will run on both gsm and cdma?? Although I'm fairly certain even if it is possible to get it to work on the network you want you definatly wont get 3G....
You're better off just selling your phone to someone ON your network... craigslist or ebay can be your best friend... and he's better off buying one made for his network.
Just my two cents!

First of all, don't try to flash the T-Mobile ROM onto your Sprint Rhodium, since that's a great way to brick your device (the ROM is for a GSM device, flashing that to a CDMA/GSM device will brick it). Sprint allows the use of SIM cards for any carriers except US ones, so what you need to do is Security Unlock your Sprint TP2, then flash this special modified radio that will allow for the use of SIM cards from US carriers. Only then can you use your Sprint TP2 on T-Mobile US.
EDIT: Disregard this entire post, I misread it and this probably doesn't apply to the actual situation. My bad...

AFAIK, the TP2s on Verizon are World Phones, but I really doubt that you could go and use a Verizon TP2 on a GSM carrier like AT&T or T-Mo. I would assume Verizon would lock the feature to do that, and that the GSM antenna is more then likely an underpowered or unable to really take advantage of GSM networks (3G/HSDPA, Edge, etc). I think they are only set on on Verizons end to do basic voice and basic features.

Apparently no one is READING your post. You want to take an AT&T Tilt2 and run it on T-Mobile. It will work with the following restrictions:
1. Your phone is network locked to AT&T. You have to either call AT&T and get an unlock code, or buy a code off ebay or one of the forums here. That way the phone will work on a different carrier network.
2. Having unlocked your phone, with a T-Mobile SIM card it will work - but only on the slower Edge speed, NOT 3G. AT&T uses a different 3G technology than T-Mobile.
I would suggest selling it as an AT&T locked phone on ebay.

Everyone,
I apologize for the confusion.. I re-read my post and I didn't mention that my Touch Pro 2 is an AT&T phone. (I was an AT&T customer and moved to Sprint). Sorry about that guys..
But thank you everyone especially stevedabi for reading between the lines.. LOL.. He won't buy it but my other co-worker is very interested. Need to sell this thing so I can offset my termination fee from AT&T. haha.

Why not just transfer the entire contract to him WITH the phone.. Then you don't have to pay a cancellation fee... Can they do that here? I know of a few people that did it up in Canada but have never heard of anyone in the states doing it. I'm sure it's got to be possible down here.

OK guys need some advice ....I've had this ip5 for about 3 weeks now and I'm bored
Already... I have a plan with fido here in Montreal that is on LTE right now with and grandfather plan
That I would not get rid of...Sooooo my question is what should I look for on the box ....of a Galaxy S3....Does it need to
Say LTE I747M...???? Should I stay away from certain carriers like telus videotron bell....and just stick with
Rogers cause it owns Fido....and what would be the apn info on fido for LTE...
If I do find one what would be the first thing to do before rooting it..... should I backup the IEMI can this be done without root....
I think that's it really but if you have more info please say so would be much appreciated....and thanks
Transformer TF101
Lurk around this forum. Read as much as you can. Does fido sell the galaxy s3? The nano-sim from your iphone5 will not fit in your s3 btw, you will need a micro sim.
All versions of s3 except Verizon already has the bootloader unlocked so just get one that's already unlocked for fido to be easier.

The Bell, rogers and Telus versions are exactly the same.... so are Fido, Koodo and Virgin as they are sub brands of the big 3.
Videotron's version is NOT the same model, so just don't touch.

I have a sgs3 from rogers. It works on the fido network without having to be carrier unlocked (tried to use a fido micro sim so i can key in unlock code, but instead it connected to the fido network). Fido doesn't seem to carry any premium phones with the exception of iphone. Mine has recently been rooted and running cm10.

Hey guys.
So I have a Bell Note 2 that I bought in full from my carriers store and they were from the first batch shipment to western Canada.
I've been poking around looking into how they might of setup the locks on the phone and what dialer codes work to do what. I decided to pop in a Telus sim card to check on the lock status of my phone and to my surprise the thing is already Factory Unlocked!
I'm curious if this was on purpose with Bell's Note 2's or did I somehow luck out with a factory unlocked one?
When searching around I've found that NCIX.com is planning on selling Bell Note 2's in Full and they have told me they are also Factory Unlocked as well.
Anyone else with a Bell phone can tell me if theirs is unlocked as well and also anyone with a Rogers and Telus ones too. I'm curious about this as its not like a carrier to sell you phones that are not locked to their network.
Even though Canadian carriers don't do this. I feel that if you buy a phone out in full they should offer you a free unlock code just as AT&T does in the states.
If this is legit and Bell has actually decided to sell their phones no longer locked to their network when buy in full this is a big Plus in my book with them and customer service towards people that pay full price for their phones.

Does anyone know of an easy way to check and see if your phone is unlocked. ( I don't have a foreign SIM to use to check). Is there a dial pad code you can type to see? My Note 2 box does not have any indication on it that says it is for Roger so I am wondering if it came unlocked? For my S3 I can type *#7465625# and it will tell me the lock status but it won't work on the Note 2.
To the original poster, my rogers phone was locked when trying a Tmobile Sim.
Could be that Telus and Bell using same network so might work.
Same is true between rogers Fido

No, they do NOT use the same network, they only share towers. Each have their own MNC's. Telus/ Koodo share a network, Bell/Virgin share a network. Also check post 4, Rogers user with an unlocked unit.

I was hoping those codes to check on the lock status were going to work too, seeing as how the NA Note II is running the same Exynos Processor as the international one and built the same. But it appears that since we are using the Qualcomm modem for our LTE support they have once again modified what codes work for our custom NA models :/
Looks like the only way to check on the lock status is by just inserting a Micro Sim from another carrier.
Anyone with a Telus Note II that has theirs factory unlocked as well? still curious about this.

I stand somewhat corrected but Virgin/Bell
Rogers/Fido have often worked despite being locked because they operate on same network. thought maybe since Telus shares infrastructure for 3g with Bell that maybe that would explain it too.
I got one of first batch of Rogers and it certainly was locked

No working code for the Canadian Note 2? I'm really considering picking up one from TELUS, but I would want/need to unlock it for all of my US work travel.

Looked them up. I think T-Mobile prepaid is still a better deal. $3/day for unlimited everything, and the first 200 MB/day at 4G (42 Mbps HSPA+) but still unlimited after that only at 2G speeds. Roam would be $4.95 for similar service (not unlimited data either, only 100 MB per day). The only bonus is if you SMS back to Canada a lot, as that seems free/included. Looking at their coverage map, it looks identical to T-Mobile, and given the max of 42 Mbps, I'd wager they are really just an MVNO on top of T-Mo to begin with. Personal preference, but I think you might as well go right to T-Mo instead.
I picked up a Bell Note II on a hardware upgrade in Vancouver on Monday. All Bell stores were sold out of the first batch but I managed to get one from The Source. Mine was definitely locked, both a British and Spanish SIM I use for travel gave an unauthorized SIM message. Bought an unlock code last night and now all is good.

I did unlock my phone with an unlock code from 1 of the online providers. So that Avenue does work for unlocking it. I was recently in Florida using a T mobile sim card on the prepaid. A word of warning the thing will work on edge data speeds but does not work on the 4g network there. There are very few 4g cell towers on the T Mobile network in the US that are compatible with Rogers phones. They work on a different frequency. The LTE bands would work in theory, however they have not yet been activated on the T Mobile network in the US.

Hi guys new to the forums i did alot of searching and researching but just cant figure out a solution. I purchased this phone as a replacement to use in canada on the bell mobility network when i first recieved the phone i went to bell and tested with there sim card and the phone would not connect, so after being dissapointed i went home and downloaded and installed the Nexus Root Toolkit v1.6.1 and unlocked and rooted the phone hopping this was my solution after this i headed back to the bell store and tested again still no luck I am hopping someone has any ideas for me i really would like to get this phone working
thanks
bell is a GSM carrier correct? if so you're trying to connect a CDMA phone to a GSM network. it will never work. period.

^^What this guy said. The sim card on the gnex you bought is ONLY for Verizon's lte, since lte is a gsm spec. However, the i515 won't work on bell.
