Topic, I would like to know of a better kernal to use for this ROM. Couldn't really find anything in the thread itself. Thanks in advance. I would like some better battery life.

At this time, the only legit option is stock kernal

Hmm, well that doesn't sound good. How else am I to save battery life?
World peace with no regard for human life.
Use the MANY battery saving tips from threads on here, mainly on syncing and turning off radios you dont need. Also run SetCPU
Incredibly, the one voodoo dance "drain battery, charge off 'till full, and unplug/plug the unit 10 times" works like a charm... Might want to try it.

Guess you haven't read about people who've drained their battery all the way and then couldn't get it to charge huh?
Or that HTC says to NOT do that?
That's happened to me. I pulled it out, plugged the usb in and put the battery back in. Let it sit for a few hours and works.

I think things were much better when I was alternating between a few batteries. But seriously, my battery life is atrocious compared to myns warm 2.2 and even cm7.

Wrong post bro and please tell us the ROM name not just "i just love this rom" and get a new battery they only cost 15-20 on ebay
People complain about battery way too much. If your at school, your supposed to be learning, If your at work your supposed to be working. The only time you go on your phone is if someone calls and maybe to text. If you use your phone this little while your at work or school, then your battery should be perfectly fine. If your at home using your phone like a hobo that never touched an iphone, then you should have a charger. if you use your phone for navigation and it uses a lot of your battery, then get a phone charger. Also, roms do not affect battery life. The only reason it may seem so is because your battery meter needs to readjust itself after flashing.
I am using the set up in my signature and I am getting horrible battery life. I might change roms (as you all know) because of this...it sucks. What can be the cause of this? I have had my evo for 10 months now so I am wondering if it could be my stock battery. It could be the kernel? Who knows...
Here is some information:
No wake lock problem
Wifi at home
3G outside
Calibrated it once since I flashed this rom
Battery decreases 3-4% overnight when sleeping
Moderate to Heavy user: texting all day, 2 hours of internet, XDA, constant emails, news, engadget, and youtube
I can see the battery life decreasing at a rate of maybe 7-10% per hour when I use it
Starting to decrease much more than it used to
***Picture: Subtract 7 hours from the 18 because it was sleeping overnight***
Any suggestions would be appreciated. You guys have provided plenty of insight for me and I thank you all for that.
Your battery life actually isn't that bad depending on how much you use your phone. Buy another battery on ebay and see if that helps. If you're looking to compare usage, I'd buy a stock battery instead of a cheap Chinese one, that way your tests will be accurate.
If your battery life just sucks and you want more juice, buy a few cheap batteries and an external charger and switch batteries when you get low. That's what I do, and it's great not having to turn radios off or do other tricks just to last through the day.

You can try changing roms...I get 1day 5hrs roughly on CM7, stock battery. For how're you're using the phone, that seems about decent, in my opinion. As plainjane suggested, you can get some other batteries and swap them out.
Youre lucky! MY battery lasts like 6 hours with moderate use

I don't have the newer one, as my phone is in the middle of doing some things, but that kind of battery life is attainable on CM7.

It could be your charging port. Those things break way too easily. When it's charging, check it every few minutes to make sure the charging light is staying on. One of my Evos had a bad port and when it first started happening, I would catch the light turning off then back on.
It could also be your battery. If you have another one you can test, see if it's any better. Or you can take the battery to Sprint and have them test it. Replacement batteries are pretty cheap if you get them on ebay.
(from... Evo/MIUI/Tapatalk)
Hey, thanks for the suggestion. I sure do hope it's the battery. I mean I do use it quite often to watch movies and what not so I'm not surprised if it's bad but I know it can be the port too because lately it's been acting crazy on me. Sometimes the light will be on, but it really doesn't end up charging. I don't know what it is. So if I take it into the sprint store to check the battery life and they won't say anything about my phone being rooted? Lol.

No problem for the link. There are many ways to help save battery. I for one turn off GPS, Bluetooth, and mobile data when I'm not using them. I use AOSP Roms mostly because they give me better battery life, I use Incredikernel because it regulates how my battery works more efficiently, and I also have an extended battery. Wiping your battery stats every once in a while can help you prolong your battery life as well.

optimized sense with the stock kernel will warrant some seriously nice battery life. thats how I maintain mine.
Depends on what I do, through a normal day (texting, few short calls, 30 minutes of music streaming, less than 5 minutes of GPS) it'll last ~1.5-2 days with CM7 nightlies and chad's incredikernel - underclocked 128MIN - ~800max
But if I use GPS all day, which I sometimes do- it'll drop 50% after 4-5 hours of use (this means screen-on, GPS running, also uses 3G data for maps) and I'll usually need to plug it in before the day ends.
I have a 1900mAh battery that fits in the stock case, so this isn't what I get on the stock 1300mAh battery.
If you can't last it through the day it usually means that you are a very heavy user (you like browsing the web all the time, streaming music, texting, watching videos) OR you have a setup that likes to eat your battery.
I need two of my 3 batteries to make it through one day. I use juice defender, and when I stream pandora at work I turn it off cause it interferes. I always have a charger handy too

I actually didn't know that the 2150 was smaller than the 3500. That thing is a beast, my friend uses one and his phone is at least twice as thick as mine.
If you are rooted, you can update the radio, I've noticed much better performance out of the updates cause they seem to manage gps and wireless better. The radio update turn off wireless if you are out of range and turn off gps if no app is using it.

yeah but you have to take into account how slim the stock incredible is. Without any case and with only the stock battery it's too thin (for me at least). Hard to hold onto the sides and I accidentally press the volume buttons often. I've also dropped it 3 times with that setup.
With a case it's great and with the 2150 it was great, loved both setups but I'm liking the new style now with the 1900 and case so that's where I'm sticking at.
Does wiping the battery stats help the battery life? Or is it just so the phone better understands how much battery is left?
Stock battery has always worked best for me.. I also have the seido 1750 mah as well as some chinese versions of 1500 mah.. I use them as backups.. I'm currently using miui as my rom and the battery life is great... I usually get about 24hrs before i'm down to 20%. No way I would make the whole day on previous roms..
I take cues from battery university. Basically, don't let the battery go below 20% shallow charge /discharge

The kernel your running makes a huge difference in battery life. Been using Ziggy's BFS for quite some time now with the Seido 1750. Gets me though the whole day

How do I save battery on my EVO?
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
turn off auto-sync, turn brightness down to about whatever you can deal with, get juice defender (free in market), get droid wall (also free), get custom kernel with undervolting, get better battery
Juice defender never did **** for any of my phones. The things it does to save battery is common sense, disable wifi, bluetooth, etc. And it kept turning off my data service even when I unlocked the screen.
Buy extra batteries and an external charger.
Run battery down, put in new battery.

My gold star winner gets 2 on the house.
For me, nothing seems to be helping.
I've done everything I could think of or find to try to aid with battery life. I've tried all sorts of different ROMs/kernels, calibrated the battery, went through several cycles before determining anything, underclocked, even got an extended battery...
In most cases, the battery life is very nice when the display is off. Today I lost 2% after an hour (with Wifi on). However, I turn on the display, and even if it's completely idle with the lowest brightness setting, it drains like mad. So I can get a good battery life if I leave it in my pocket and look at it occasionally, but I know that's not what people mean when they say they're getting great battery life.
Something just isn't adding up.
Well the way I saved battery life was the following
CM7 rom
Tiamat kernel sbc
Setcpu for root users
From there I lowered my CPU speed.
Doing this gave me a full day bettery.

No it will not. It has a charge script that stops when it reaches 100% then monitors the battery after that and will trickle charge when it drops a couple of percent.
Actually this is a process used to calibrate battery when you first buy one or is the first time you buy a phone. You drain it and charge it overnight. I do this too but not recently because airplane mode allows for no percentage drop..... I don't believe it is harmful but may prove to be over an extended period as are many things. Id say just turn the phone on airplane mode and it shouldn't drop but 1-2 if any percentage.

A general charge overnight will not harm ur battery. But every now and then..u want to perform a charge cycle. Fully chargee it, and let it drain completely. U do this twice. It just basically resets the battery cells. Our phones use a lithium-ion battery plus..its the improved lith battery.

NO. NO. NO. Uberpinguin, the one who posts cm7, hates battery calibration, and I'll preach his message for him. Cycling the battery is stupid, it wears life, and wiping battery stats is stupid. Each battery has a specific uuid (I think that's what it is) that tells batterystats.bin what battery it is, and then it THEN locates the info it needs. Not "oh hey, my phone is calibrated for someone elses battery".

Explain ****ty battery life then when i don't calibrate it when i flash a rom.
When i flashed over to CM7 my phone was getting on average 10-14Hrs depending on usage if i was heavily using it it would be from 6-8Hrs.
After i calibrated it i went from 6-8 on heavy to 12-15 on Heavy and medium usage went from 10-14 to 18-20Hrs. And minimal use ending me up with 24+Hrs
So please explain? because i hate calibrating it but it works.

Battery drain always seems terrible for a short time after flashing a new rom. It does clear up.
Letting your battery drain completely is NOT good for your phone, though I'm unaware of what how it may affect the battery itself. But as I understand it, it is not necessary in any way for the battery itself- so it's useless and doing so will only help you corrupt the data on your phone.
I've been charging mine nightly since Nov 2010 and it's fine.
Those of you with serious battery drain - do yourself a favor and try staying on the same rom for more than 36 hours.
