im trying to root for 2.2, but for some reason im getting this error?
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
(Device or resource busy)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted.
ive placed it on my internal SD card, its 790kb in size. anyone have any ideas?
also, i think i may have heard you need to flash 2.2 as MODEM, i flashed it as PDA, but its working fine with the exception of rejecting root, could this be an issue?
OMG! please leave this forum if you don't know how to use the search button! There is a whole deticated topic!
You have to flash it as the PDA or else it wouldnt work! and fail to flash!
my left nut. not the other one, just the left one

i'm very sorry for the noob post, folks. but i am a complete virgin when it comes to anything android related, especially rooting. the info i'm looking for is likely posed already, but honestly, i dont even know where to look.
that said, i just got a Kindle Fire and I want to root it.
i downloaded KFU and when i click on the drivers install file i get this message:
"' and' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. the syntax of the command is incorrect."
after that i get a screen indicating "Google,Inc. (WinUSB)..." followed by "Install Failed (unsigned)"
what the heck does any of that mean and how do i fix it??
thank you all in advance, looking forward to an answer to my problem.

Your post is actually in the wrong section... it should be in Q&A.
I suggest you read this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552547
Post #2 has information on how to install drivers and verify they are working correctly.
Post #3 has information on the commands you need to know to root and a link to a HOW-TO guide.

error while making a backup image of /sd-ext!
Why has my phone started doing this ?
In the time it took to take a photo and upload while waiting for a response you could have googled "md5 mismatch" and found your answer.

that's a very helpful response (top member)
there is more than 1 way to skin a cat yes ? so not every issue is the same even after doing a forum search ..
anyway i had made a partition on my external SD card to give me more internal storage & i think this is what was creating the issue i had.
i,ve had many android phones and each one has its own learning curve

i don`t think your partition is to blame. I have had same issue with CWM. Does your phone boot. i have a way but you need a working OS on the phone.
This can be done on PC asswell by conecting phone via ABD, but i did not managed to do it. But worked very well in terminal window on phone :
Boot the device (Connect the device – via adb , not in media storage mode) and do the following in CMD / Terminal
adb shell
# cd /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/2012-10-10.20.22.53 (Here 2012-10-10.20.22.53 is timestamp at which backup was generated, yours might be different! )
# rm nandroid.md5
# md5sum *img > nandroid.md5
Thats it ! that removes the existing md5 sum (which gave a mismatch in CWM) and generates a new one !
Try restoring the Backup now, it will be done in first attempt
But be very caefull : if image was not created on this phone or if you are not sure is exactly for your phone, don`t do it !!!!

First of all give the last link in my sig a read, and secondly, given how common certain issues like this are and the amount of times its been asked and replied to you could have found your answer already.

Sorry mate but I've been meaning to say this for a while...
A lot of the time that i search for something, i find a thread with a similar question.
But most of the time the answer is from you saying "SEARCH" etc etc
If the thread has already started you may as well help if you can.
Otherwise you are spamming just as much as those not searching for answers...
Along with leaving yet another unanswered thread for others to find.
Isn't it funny how my searches of a lot of thread titles or modified key words find what some People claim their searches couldn't, perhaps you, and anyone else who takes issue with how I post should read the last link in my sig.

Hi guys im unsure if you would call me a noob since ive been playing with androids and custom ops for a while, however my girlfriend purchased an lg d855 (stock as a rock)and "all of a sudden" it failed to reboot, now from what i have found it appears to be quite unusual for this to happen but common for the os to crash into a boot freeze or boot loop, i have no complete load of download mode, it comes up with the little blue dots and the picture of the phone or whatever the symbol is. i can get it into fastboot for use with the adb or fastboot apps, i have obtained the stock LAF.img for the 32gb variant, the issue is that after the phone is connected and ready to send operations
i send the command
c:\adb\fastboot erase recovery >
erasing recovery>
FAILED <remote: failed to erase partition>
and on the phone it says
<start>
fastboot: processing commands
fastboot: getvarartition-type: recovery
fastboot erase: recovery
partition getsize 16777216 bytes
erasing card: 0x48000:0x8000
error: command never completed
error: command timeout error
error: command completed with errors
failed to send erase grp start address
mmc erase failed
<end>
so the question, what the hell does that mean, also if i try other commands it also failes to complete them such as erasing the laf file and or replacing it, i feel like i am mostlikely not the only one with this issue, i do have all the correct drivers installed, using the adb that i have which is 1.3 and one that comes with a kit of the sdk tools and all that, i feel like it is a phone issue more than computer as its failing to erase the mmc, i am wondering if there is other commands i could put in the phone to figure this out or if anyone knows what it all means i would greatly appreciate any help Thanks guys an gals.
iv tried also to load a custom recovery but cant do that because it comes up with incomplete bootloader on the phone, is anyone even able to help? i have no idea what the hell i am doing and nobody seems interested to try and help me.
Same problem here
I'm in the same situation as you did you manage to erase the recovery or something else in order to put your smartphone to work? thkx

Can I give you a bit of friendly advice firstly if you look at this thread you resurrected it is dated about a year ago and also if you look at the person who posted his last post anywhere on Xda was over a year ago ( you can find this out by clicking on is name/profile and view forum posts).
Now my point is resurrecting this very old post and and asking a question to the person who posted it along time ago is not likely going to get you a answer from him.You probably need to find newer up to date posts or answers by doing a more in depth search.
Saying all that here is a little info that may help you it is a slightly different solution but may help you >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/guide-fix-hard-brick-recovery-guide-t3132359 << this is a more up to date thread and if you post your question there with as much detail as possible about your problem and anything you have done to fix it then you may solve your problem.
If you choose to try the advice given in that thread don't forget to use a tot file for your particulate model and not the one posted in the thread.
Good luck with your problem.
