Hoping someone can please help!
I have the HTC Desire and it appears to be frozen on the hboot screen, volume and power keys unresponsive........
The screen says:
BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT - 0.93.0001
MICROP - 051d
TOUCH PANEL - SYNT0101
RADIO - 5.11.05.27
HBOOT
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
None of the keys work, unable to even turn phone off without removing battery. Phone is unrecognised when connected to PC..............
I'm totally dumb when it comes to anything technical so totally stuck!!
Is your phone on stock? If yes, give htc a ring.

Meant to add that although it changes to hboot USB plug when plugged into the laptop, the laptop doesn't recognise it and still unavailable to do anything on the phone screen...... yet my own htc desire ( Broken one is hubby's) connects perfectly to the pc
Is it beyond repair...
I have the exact same problem. it went swimming with my phone. it now does exactly what your is doing. I have mine sitting in a bag of rice. will try again in 2 days. other then that is there any way of loading anything from hboot?
When u mean ur desire connects perfectly do u mean in hboot mode or just mount SD card in android. Also on the broken phone boot in to fastboot and plug it in then check if you have the fastboot drivers installed. To do this just look in the device manager for something like android 1.0

Lol, you still have the ENG Bootloader....
So no issues here...
If the OS doesn't boot, reflash using CWM.
Or reflash your stock rom...

Follow the guide i've written here. I've had almost identical issues. As long as you are not on a stock 1.72 ROM or RUU it should work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9902944#post9902944

Simple, download an RUU (I would recommend RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.3_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.15_M3_release_155032_signed) since it allows easy root, s-off and super CID without having any branding) and when you get the hboot menu select fastboot and connect your phone to computer. Follow RUU instructions from your computer.
When task is complete you will be able to start the root process again.
reflash a custom rom through CWM and you will be ok. no need for RUU if you can boot into recovery. if you cannot boot into CWM recovery then you can flash the RUU from the above post.
i recommen that you flash LeeDroid"s custom rom. It's great.
tanks for ur answer
i download RUU and run it
but my usb connection not recognise and cant connect to my phone
i connect my phone with its orginal usb cable and phone is in normal mode(it show only htc logo) and another time it is in hboot mode(turn it with volume down presed)
but my phone not recognise and cant do any thing
what i can whit this usb connection problem?
When your in hboot if it says HBOOT USB PLUG then you need to select fastboot (using the vol keys) and press the power button to select it. This will then put you in FASTBOOT and where it said HBOOT USB PLUG should now say FASTBOOT USB.

put your phone in fastboot and then run the RUU. but i told you if you have a custom recovery, just flash another custom rom.

Tried turning off any antivirus/firewall?
Do you have htc sync installed? If not, try installing it.

Hello Mikep I installed htc sync disabled firewall and anti virus.. HTC sync after i connected phone wont find phone it says no device connected, bu when i pugged that cable to phone and pc windows says HTS device driver installer corectly ...
Have you tried now running the RUU with antivirus/firewall off?
Basically, disconnect phone, boot into fastboot (power & back key), plug phone into PC. It should now show FASTBOOT USB or similar.
Then try the RUU.

Hi,
Let me start with my device info.
HTC Desire

- HBOOT-0.93.0001
- MICROP-051d
- Touch panel-synw0101

Current image version
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_Chunghwa Taiwan carriers (version: 2.10.751.4)
I'm running Windows Vista x86
That's all I got.
Now, the problem.
Everytime I turn the device on, it get stuck at the White HTC Windows and vibrates several times, I think this is a pretty common problem, so I won't stress this issue too much.
The solutions that I found are.
As my device is S-ON my options are limited. I can't boot recovery, so..
I download the latest RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2_29_405_5_Radio_32_49_00_32U_5_11_05_27_release_159811_signed_2
Now, I run the ruu until ask to connect, I connect my device, the ruu recognize and identify my device, it ask to update, everything good. Updating process start and suddenly stops and tells me, "error 131, customer id error"
and that I need to use the right RUU utility.?
So I decided to avoid the USB connection and try to flash it directly from the SDCARD, I extracted the rom.zip from the above file, change the name to PB99IMG.ZIP, put it on my device, volume + power, but nothing.
so thinking that something is missing, I select fast boot, the device shows some text in green, even shows the PB99IMG.ZIP file, and is back to the bootloader screen and nothing happens.
What else can I do to bring to life my device, if I choose recovery with the PB99IMG file in the sdcard, the device shows a black screen with a red triangle.
I think is something with that taiwanes RUU, but maybe not.
Could any one please put me in the right direction
Thanks in advance
Sovius

Can you boot into fastboot? Using revolutionary.io will give you S-OFF and then you can flash a recovery - since you are PVT4, then AmonRa or newest CWM recommended.
You need a goldcard to RUU with that RUU. Download the 2.3.3 RUU from htcdev.com. this should resolve the Id issue.

This is what happen now.

In tried to S-Off with Revolutionary, I remove HTC Sync and install the drivers required. > Back + Power > the device is in fastboot screen > connect the USB cable and the device seems to be recognized by the computer but no notification of that is given, except for a beep (like when you plug a USB flashdrive) but no letter is assign to the device or anything. > I double click revolutionary and the program said "waiting for device", I left it for 30min, but nothing.
As I cannot get inside the device, the problem might be that revolutionary requires my device to have "USB debugging on" I don't know if is on or not.
rootSU
How do I create a Gold Card, if I can't get inside the device to set everything up?. Can I use another Gold card or they are exclusive of each device.?.
Your recommendation are Welcome, Please let me know if you need anything from me to have a much clear understanding about what's going on.
I'll make a video to show you exactly what happening and what I'm doing
Cheers
Hiya guys,
I recently purchased a HTC desire and its been nothing but trouble. THe phone simply refuses to function. It loads directly into the boot loader after around 3 seconds after I press the power button. It will NOT go into recovery mode, I have tried many times but nothing. Even worste when it enters bootloader all buttons cease to function and I cannot scroll to select an option or enter FASTBOOT, no buttons function whatsoever.
The devices is detected via usb, fastboot commander gives me this error when reading the device details -
Code:
HT05PPL02709 Connected.
-----------------------------------.
STARTING PRINT OF DEVICE INFO.
-----------------------------------.
SPL/hboot version: failed.
Radio version: failed.

getvar:mid failed (command write failed (unknown error)).
getvar:security failed (status malformed (1 bytes)).
getvar:build-mode failed (command write failed (unknown error)).
-----------------------------------.
Print of device info SUCCESSFUL.
This device does not have s-off nor eng hboot.
ARE YOU SURE THAT THIS IS THE RIGHT TOOL FOR YOU?.
Within the bootloader itself I get this information -
HTML:

When the USB is plugged in I get "HBOOT USB PLUG"
Devices is detected as "MY HTC"
I tried flashing with official htc update utility but I get error 170 (bad usb connection). The device charges etc but that's about all I have been able to do thus far.
I will provide further details if needed, I just really want this fixed.
A small reward of £10 (around $18 dollars) will be issued via Paypal to the first one to fix my problem as a token of goodwill. Would appreciate any help here guys!
Ensure to have the correct drivers (uninstall all htc drivers u have and install the latest htc synch from htc website)
then run the latest ruu for the desire 2.29.405.5
ps. no reward needed
poweroff and hold BACK and POWER. this boots you directly into fastboot mode.
From there you can issue the command
Code:
fastboot oem gencheckpt
which boots you into recovery. Try to flash a rom or restore a backup and get back at us
And yeah we don't help people for profit

When powered off back and power, or any combination of keys still just instantly load the boot-loader. This is what makes my problem ever more difficult to solve.
The 'reward' is merely a token of my appreciation. Anyone have any ideas please let me know!
I would say put the relevant PB99IMG.zip on the sd card via whatever means you can and return it to stock via the bootloader.

Well I assume they work since the power button works just fine to turn it on to the bootloader. And since they ceases to respond once there I thought perhaps the same could apply to the other buttons.
When I plug in the usb it says "HBOOT USB PLUG" and when I unplug it it simply says "HBOOT" perhaps that is relevant in any way shape or form?
Thanks for sticking by!
So when it goes into hboot, it shoudl highlight fastboot. Pressing power at that point does not take you to fastboot?
Has the device ever had water damage? It could be that the volume button is stuck down or thinks its stuck down.
Also thats an old radio you have there, from 2.1
has this device every worked for you?

It does simply not respond whatsoever to input from the buttons. I ran the command 'fast boot devices' and it did find a device and listed its ID. But when I try reboot or flash witt fastboot I get a 'malformed bytes' error code.

Have you tried running RUU? You can try running the 2.2 RUU and if that doesn't help, 2.3. As your device recognizes that it's plugged in, it could respond to RUU

RUU recognizes it I think, It alerts me if the battery is lower than 30%, once charged it then loads for about 40 seconds than I receive error 170, USB error. Perhaps this is a sign that it could possibly work.
I have googled the error 170 and alot of people seem to think its a driver issue? However after installing, re-installing and installing again the official, latest HTC sync files it still refuses to work.
Any ideas where to go from there?
Are you using the original cabe? Aftermarket cables seems to work, but using mine original cable, resolved all errors for my colleague who could not flash a RUU.
And try the driver from Unrevoked: http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/windows_hboot_driver_install
I NEVER used the official HTC drivers nor HTC sync, but I was able to do everything with the modified USB drivers.
The unrevoked files are currently down FYI

Dam no luck, still 170 error! Tried with two separate cables. Anything else which would cause this?
This is usually only fixable by using PB99IMG.zip but you're stuck there. Really not sure what you can do now. I think you're stuck

Hello! I hope to write in the right section. Forgive my bad english.
I have this htc desire z to repair. The phone don't start, it crashes on the logo "HTC". i try to enter in the boot menu (volume + and the power button) and then the smartphone show me:

then the menu with fastboot, recovery, factory reset, simlock, image crc. I select the "factory reset" but the phone crasches, it don't even change the screen. So I try to select "recovery". The phone restars and show me the logo "HTC" then a black screen with the phone and three arrows to form a cercium. After that the phone switch off and it make a several shor vibration and nothing else. it seems deadh.
So... I try to put on the sd car the ruu file and i rename the file in "PC10IMG". When I restar the boot menu, the phone read the file on the sd card. Infact show me a blu status bar, then a orage status bar, but then.. Then it return on the boot menu.
I think that if I put on the sd card the right file I will can restore the phone.. But i don't know how file to download and put on the sd card to format it.

Start by saying that the smartphone have never connected with my pc.
I install on my pc the HTCSync, but when I connect the pc with the phone, the smartphone show me "hboot plug usb" but the software doesn't see the phone. On the device manager, there is "andriod 1.0". I try to give it the driver, but it's also the same thing. The things don't change. When I enter on the fastboot on the smartphone, on the device manager of the pc there is "fastoboot" and there aren't errors.
I'm trying to do something with adb. I haven't the driver! i download and install htc sync but when i get the command "adb service" it show me "List of devices attached". So I haven't install the driver yet, what can I do? Where I can download it?
Thanks so much for you helps
