Hello, guys, after reading and using the xperia x1 section here for years, yesterday i bought xperia neo - my first android device and of course, another SE device for my history collection . Since there isnt a Neo's section here, and I believe the difference between Arc and Neo according to the software is really slight,I would like to ask you :what now: - how to check if my device is rooted (and if so or not, what to do ?... are the ARC themes and etc. in that section appliable to the neo..10x )
to check your phone root status get Root Checker from market (free).
There's a guide covering the various ways to root ones phone here.
And I wouldn't try installing the Arc themes onto anything but an Arc.
Whilst the Arc and Neo are very similar, any themes created using files extracted from an Arc are unlikely to work with a Neo.

Well, arent they having the fuction of add ons and ready akp-s?If not, then i shoul check the general Adroid theme developing,i guess ? :-o. ALso checked that my phone is not rooted but as i know, more important and lets say vital for my device to get rooted is not to be with unlocked bootloader. Is there way to find out that and most probably, if it is not, i will try rooting it with the universal program(apk) for rooting :gingerbreak http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765

hello people of XDA, today I come with a problem I emerged.
Following the appearance of new Xperia play ICS beta install decided to see how it worked, so I have to unlock the bootloader, in doing so I find that I can no longer update but my computer from SEUS.
I would ask for a solution to this problem, my back your original software XPlay, and to continue updating it with no problem
I leave the details of my Xperia Play:
Model: R800i
Android Version: 2.3.4
Compilation Number: 4.0.2.A.0.58
I'm from Mexico and I hope I can help.
Note: Only provide if you have tried this solution and are 100% that it works.
thanks
look for flashtool and a stock .ftf file for your version. This helped me alot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1294129

Would a stock rom restore Crash Bandicoot and Bruce Lee?
Not that I'm too concerned about playing them but being a noob with an android phone I've kinda deleted Bruce Lee (even though it still appears as an icon). I was wondering if I re-apply a stock rom for the Xperia Play would the rom file include the two included games: Bruce Lee and Crash?
Depends on the FTF file.

I've been playing around with the different SONY Ericsson stock ROMS after I did a test for the ICS ROM and some of that include Bruce Lee, but Crash Bandicoot should be included because Crash is pretty much the only playstation pocket game available when they released the phone. Hope this helps, and also there are links to all 3 different versions of the 2.3.4 Gingerbread ROMs if you go to the xperiagamer .com website and then select rooted zone, stock ROMs and choose 2.3.4 as it's the latest and choose the correct one,
Note the main 3 are for R800i and the other R800a.
Also there are guides on how to get things to work on this site, Ive used it for most of my needs.
Hope this helps.

Thanks ImaKitch,
I think it's just OCD - i either want Bruce Lee on there or not at all. The fact that his icon appears on my dash niggles me - enough to flash it and start again.

If you use SEUS with an unlock bootloader, your phone will brick. To relock your bootloader, flash the ftf file here. DRM can't be restored though.
hi guys,
since 2 years i have a Galaxy s3 mini.
At the moment i´m on slimKAT 4.4.4 and TWRP 2.8.1.0.
In a few weeks i will get a new device from my provider. But i am not sure which one is the best.
I can choose from a range of 5 "minis"
- Galaxy s4 mini
- Galaxy s5 mini
- HTC one mini
- Xperia Z1 Compact
- Xperia Z3 Compact
Important for me is:
- custom ROMs available
- custom recoverys available
- good battery life
- good performance
- SD card slot for extSD
my favourite is the Xperia Z1 Compact (good ROMs on XDA, great battery life, SD card slot).
But what about routing, flashing, bootloader (i don´t know much of it cause my s3 mini haven´t one ) ...
Is it much more difficult to handle than a Samsung device (rooting, flashing, ...) or just simple?
Thx for your help and i hope you are telling me your experiences and recommendations.

I've never had a Sony device before either, Z1c was my first Sony. Of course I had to do a little research about rooting, but I did not find it particularly difficult-and I do not consider myself a rooting genius.
Z1c is in a league of its own, the other minis are not even close. Read a little bit, learn the rooting process well and go buy it!

hi,
thx for your answer.
Now 3 hours later i read a lot about rooting a Z1c.
Plz tell me if i´m wrong, i will make the following steps:
1) installing flashtool-drivers on my PC to have the right drivers
2) use the tool "newroot" to get root without unlocking the bootloader
3) backup my DRM-keys with Backup-TA-9.11
4) flash Z1C-lockeddualrecovery (custom recovery)
4a) make a nandroid backup
5) unlock the bootloader on Sony Unlock Website
6) flash a custom ROM like slim or other
7) flash gapps
thx
m.
Yes, the procedure looks correct. But I have to say that I do not remember the procedure I followed exactly, it's been a long time ago and I never bothered with it again.
Phones from providers tend not to be unlockable so would check that if you want to unlock the bootloader.
Hello! Greetings to all!
I have a Xperia Arc S LT18i handset running 4.0.4 ICS build (4.1.b.0.587) at the moment. I rooted it with the conventional way described by various individuals. Used flashtool to flash the (4.1.a.0.562) kernel, then ran the doomlord toolkit (thanks doomlord for this awesome toolkit) then reflashed the 4.1.b.0.587 kernel. So my phone is then rooted, so far ok now. I checked with root checker, even checked with terminal emulator when typing "su" the "$" turns to "#" to show i m now rooted!
I have also installed CWM after rooting my device!
But then i tried to install CM9 (stable version from anzu), it described that theres a "boot.img" file in the zip which we have to flash via fastboot mode. And put the zip on sdcard. So I connected my phone via fastboot mode (I did it correctly, it displayed a blue light on notification led). Then i used flashtool>flash>fastboot mode>"select kernel to flash">(selected the boot.img given from CM9 zip). Now here's the problem. It's displaying "device not rooted"! I m completely blank of what to do. Please help! If I m unclear about my problem, I can post screenshots!
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Please standby while we have your thread/question moved to the appropriate sub-forum for your device.
For future reference you can find your device sub-forum here (bookmark/subscribe this):
Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, Active, Ray, Live with Walkman
Within that section you will find a dedicated q&a sub-forum (this is where your thread is going to be moved to):
Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, Active, Ray, Live with Walkman Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!
You need to unlock bootloader to flash custom kernels and use source ROMs like CM9
http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/
Else you will need to use only Stock based ROMs
Problem Solved! Thanks all!
Yeah it was due to locked bootloader, thanks a lot guys, I m running LegacyXperia cm11 rom! You guys rock! Thanks a million

Hi,
Hoping someone can help me?
I have my old Xperia S and will need to use it for a little while, but it's completely stock (6.2.B.1.96) and isn't even rooted. I wanted to put the (now free) Xperia Overlay Lollipop version onto it, because I've realised so so many apps are no longer compatible with JellyBean (not sure if this is the case with Lollipop too??) but I don't know how to install it. The website only let me download "Update.zip" and comes with no installer or instructions on what I need to do.
It's been a long time since I messed around with this sort of thing (not since I had my Xperia X10) and I don't fully understand what I'd need to do to put a new ROM on this phone. Ideally I'd like to install Marshmallow 6.0 from the Xperia Overlay website, but the download doesn't show for some reason.
Thanks for any help and apologies if this is in the wrong section!
How can i RooT my 2.3.4 "SonyEricsson XPERIA Play (R800i)" with build number xxx.69?
Ok so....i have been looking for some tutorials (semi NooB here) and i cant seems to find some new one or one that is consistend or just about root.
Also many are outdated, poorly written, and there arent many tutorials as i saw about RooT-ing XPERIA Play, at least not the one with build number .69.
Also if i DO find some good (as i saw from comments) like this one for example: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2204321 (i mean i only really trust XDA forum for stuff i do to my phone) the links for necessary files are long gone.
So...if anyone can please help me or rederect me to some updated, good and thread or website with tutorial that HAS working links, please do!
Anyway...
So i got "SonyEricsson XPERIA Play" (R800i) with build number 4.0.2.A.0.69, With Android version 2.3.4. Its never been RooT-ed as i know.
So i just want to RooT it so i can remove ANNOYING bloatware and free up some space and make it clean teh way I want tbh! I see no other reason to RooT it... I mean there is one but im still thinking about it (for now) and that is, as i heard, since X-Play doesnt have any OFFICIAL updaes, its stuck on Android 2 (gingerbread) i heard that i can flash a ROM to Android 4, and that improves gaming, which is what i want TBH, i mainly, if not always, use this phone for gaming and emulators, and if Android 4 custom ROM can improve already great (for X-Play ofc) performance, id be happy to do so!!!
But first thing first, i like to get informed first of all... But as for now, im just looking help for first step, and that is: How to RooT my XPERIA Play, please?
Thanks guys! ^^
Anyone..i tried numerous stuff, but im constantly stuck..cant seems to rood. idk what am i doing wrong
[HOW-TO][zergRush Root] Root w/ v2.2.x-2.3.x (NOT ICS 4.x or GB after 11/2011)
This thread is a collaboration by myself, paxChristos, DooMLorD, & amishxda. Please give credit where credit is due. Thanks. This method has been confirmed to work on all models of the Xperia PLAY - R800x / R800i / R800a / R800at. Also works...
