Cyanogen 7.1RC1 Text selection not working properly - Desire General

When I am using the default web brower or gmail and try to "select text", I get a cursor on the screen which I should be able to move with the track pad so that I can easily select words to copy. But, the cursor seems to move very very very slowly. Anyone else notice this problem or know if this is fixed in the nightly?
Regards.

Actually, the problem with being able to move the cursor when trying to select text is working ok within the web browser but it seems broken within the email clients. Gmail and K-9 both exhibit this problem with Cyanogen.

non-outlook email problem

Hi,
Is anyone having any problems with viewing email synchronised from non-outlook sources? We use websphere everyplace client at work, and everything syncs fine, however when you click on the message header within "messaging" you get a blank (white) screen. I cannot view any detail at all from the messages, and have spent the last 2 days mucking about with various settings (Changing the inbox options to get full copy of messages etc) to no avail. I am currently working back on WM2005 with no problems, but would love to go back to black!
Any assistance would be fantastic.
Cheers,
Rob

rvaker, not sure what you mean, but kind of similar problem I have now too. I also get the "blank screen" but the thing is that the program scrolls down by itself the message, thus you see only white screen. If you see the scroll bar, scroll back up. I've got confused first time too, and thought it's not working. But at the moment, I don't know how to fix this and have the message on top right away without scrolling.
non outlook email reading and writng problem
Hi there.
I have same problem as well. With help of scrolling buttons I can read my email, however there is no opportunity to write new email or reply emails (white screen appear to screen).
How we can solve this problem? I am using vodafone push-email services.

I had a problem like this. My SMS and emails would always scroll down the screen when i opened them and had to use the bar to scroll back up to read it. Only thing i changed when this started happening was a reg change to navigation in IE and when i undid the change, it was fine again.
The change i made can be found in the wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WM5_Tweaks_Other
About half way down under the Pocket IE (PIE) section. Its the one to Navigate PIE up/down with the four-way pad.
May be worth having a look at your registry and undoing this change if its been made!
Thanks very much, JamesAub and GuzuGuzu. I'll re-flash black tonight (my time!) and give it a go!

HTC Home

I have the 6 tab version installed and working fine, except for one small but irritating issue. When I press the "messenger" tab, it always opens the MMS inbox. I've tried opening and closing things in different order. I've tried to find settings somewhere, all without success - very frustrating. Is there a way to set it to open my email? I've looked everywhere I can think to find a fix, but no luck.
Tks

[Q] AOL Webmail Visibility issues

So I still use my aol webmail account (webmail.aol.com) and am having a issue on my g2. For some reason I cannot scroll to the right or left when logged into the webmail. This is a problem because I cannot see the entire email since it overlaps the screen view. Rotating the phone sideways helps a bit but doesn't fix the problem at all. I never had this issue with my G1 and do not have the issue using Opera mini browser (dolphin, full opera, and stock browser have the problem). My question is, is there anything I can tweak to that it will come up correctly? I've already swiched the user agent setting but nothing seems to make a difference. Thanks!
Also, if I open a message and hit the provided back button, it just reloads the messaged, does not take me back.

[Q] Select text issues in 4.0.4, anyone confirm?

HI all,
I use m.facebook.com quite a bit instead of the app. The reason being that I can select text from the mobile site and paste into google translate app. Since the update I can no longer select text from this mobile site? not sure what has happened.
Can anyone confirm that they cannot select text on this site in the browser. It behaves strangely. Thanks
I cannot.
I am on 4.0.4 and I can confirm that I can select text within m.facebook.com using the stock browser. Make sure you are not clicking on any links, and instead just holding down on regular text.

Tried this again and again. Just doesn't work on FB webpage. Used to be able to select and copy someones status update etc. Are you sure you are not on the regular desktop site? This only affects m.facebook.com.
The long hold and select text works fine on other webpages so I think its some change to the code on FB mobile.

I have found that I cannot in the news feed, but if I click on "comment" then I can select the post. Sometimes it doesn't work right. In Chrome, I cannot select anything on Facebook. I use Friendacaster when I need to select text, but prefer using mobile facebook for everything else.
Thanks for confirming that. Its quite annoying as I use the inbuilt browser for all my surfing on the nexus. The facebook mobile site seems to be rendering differently than before and preventing text selection. If I force the page to render in desktop mode there is no issue with text selection. Wondering is there a workaround to select text in mobile site.

[Q] G3 oddities

Generally very happy with new G3 (on Optus network in Australia), but two weird things driving me nuts.
1. With several apps open, hit the home button. All good, end up on home screen. Then hit the open apps button and it says 'No recent apps'. Repeat above steps and now it shows all those running apps and you have an enabled option to Clear All or can individually swipe them off.
Any one else seeing this. Never saw this with Nexus 5 I just lost and replaced with G3.
2. The keyboard entry on the Nexus 5 (if I recall correctly) worked pretty much the same for emails as it did for say SMS messages or Hangouts messages. i.e. if you had a bad typo you could position back into the word and all suggested corrections appeared to allow you to replace the typo. This is how SMS/Hangouts works but seems other text entry functions don't do this correction process the same way. Is it up to each app developer to control how this works or do they all use the common keyboard text entry 'widget' or control??
3. Hangouts. Seems that all of a sudden (probably an app update?) Hangouts (which I have selected as my default messaging app) tries to send a Hangouts message instead of a regular SMS. This is fine if the received has Hangouts activated on their device/account, but many of my contacts don't and I've suddenly realised they what I thought were SMS messages sent correctly have just gone into the ether. So step by step, if I go to Hangouts, search for a contact, select contact and start typing, I can see that it is telling me it's sending a Hangouts message, not an SMS. If instead I explicitly scroll in Hangouts through my contacts, and select one, it pops up their contact details and I get the option to select a message icon. When I now get back to start typing the message, it now shows the mobile number it will SMS (not Hangout message) to. This works fine, but is different behaviour to a week ago.
For all of the above, apologies if I simply don't understand the apps or OS fully yet. Learning ...
You can either clear all of swipe each to kill the app.
The stock keyboard sucks in my opinion. I use the Google keyboard without any issues.

Thanks - but my issues is that it says no active apps, and the Clear All button is greyed out. Repeat the process and now the apps which I know are open, are all there. The question is why first display of apps thinks there is nothing there.

Install a 3rd party keyboard, then set your new keyboard to be the default keyboard. Now restart your device and Disable the stock keyboard with something like titanium backup, reboot once more to be sure it is gone and notice how much smoother everything is... Most lag disappears... Just goes to show how crap the stock keyboard really is...

I've noticed this as well, only ever happens when I have more than a couple of apps open, it's like the phone fails to register what apps are open or something, but as you said if I try doing it again, they appear there open
Very strange, probably just a bug or something that will be fixed in a Firmware update...

Yeah me too. Even after complete restore to stock.
Recent app menu is some funny bug.
And about your keyboard. I'd ditch it for google keyboard and lag will be gone.

Yeah I caved to pressure today and switched to TouchPalX. I've had it for years but decided to give the default LG keyboard a go, but after today's update I just gave up. Now, I've never had a smoother typing experience in my life!
