Root phone back - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

So my power connector stopped working and Verizon is sending me a new one. I have to send the original back and wondering, should I root the phone back? Or should i just transfer my data and then install the stock ROM?

I would put the stock, nonrooted rom back on. Note that you can't S-On atm

How to restore to stock from AlpharevX INCREDIBLE 2 (vivow) ONLY - remember to thank jcase

I have a bit of problem. The reason why I got a replacement is because the USB/power connection stopped working. Is there any other way to run the first command?
I can download the ROM onto my phone via the web browser or dropbox and flash the stock? Would that be good enough if I send it back to Verizon?

FWIW a few Verizon techs I know told me that if they can flash the stock software fine on the phone then they personally don't care if it's rooted or not.

Stock 2.3.4

Looking to put my wifes Inc 2 back to stock. We just got the phone from verizon via replacement for bricking hers during the new software update. As soon as I got it I had it rooted. Now, the camera will not work at all. So before I go back to Verizon I really need to get it back to stock. So I checked the Inc 2 Dev forum and didnt see anything but the ChinaCom update. I need the VZW WWE stock 2.3.4 So if anyone could point in the right direction, thatd be fantastic. Ive also tried flashing 4 separate ROMs and 3rd party camera apps, it just FC's. So Im going to take it back AGAIN and see what theyll do for me.
Thanks!
Try here for the RUU

Scroll to the near end of the thread, I believe this is the latest version he posted in early November:

There really should be more of an ability to reset to factory, literally.
It's nice being able to wipe all user data and stuff but the custom rom still remains.
Sometimes people need to return a phone or need to go back to stock to install an OTA update ya know!
But custom roms are generally superior so whatever.

I Agree with this. There's been plenty of times where I have needed to sell or bring the phone back to the store, but without it being TRULY stock, they wont do anything. Plus alot of folks don't want to buy a rooted or S-Off phone becaues it voids the warranty.
There needs to be a way to completely revert to stock. Like it was out of the box. As easily as possible.

HTC Evo Gingerbread update question

I just got an HTC evo from cellular trendz, and i tryed to update it to the new upgrade but it says there is no updrage available. Im on V 2.2 right now?
Should i just root my phone to get it or is there another way around it?
bumping this, still not updating for me
Just root the evo, then you can flash any froyo/gingerbread/ICS rom you want.
My phone works fine, no need to root it right now.
My main problem with rooting is that the GPS wont work
Rooting doesn't break gps

Absolutely no need for him to root if he doesn't want to.
Are you sure the phone is running on the sprint network? If so, it should definitely find the 2.3 update when you go to update HTC software. If not, you can always download a stock RUU and run that.
I tried downloding the stock and flashing that through recovery.iu...but it says my device is not recognized? My phone is activated through sprint and everything on the phone works fine

Rooted my samsung moment, actually all 3 of them and the GPS stopped working on me.
I rooted the EVO last night, put the new OTA 2.3.3 Gingerbread on it.
Never occurred to you that the Moment and the Evo are two different phones?? lol
Should have used my ROM on the Moment. GPS worked fine

New One V - Root and Flash Rom before Choosing VM or Page Plus?

I got this phone as a gift for my dad and this will be His FIRST ever cell phone. He is hard of hearing and wears hearing aids, but the speaker phone mode works great.
Can I root this phone and flash CM10 before I activate it on Virgin Mobile (or page plus if i decide to go that route for him)? I am scared that if i take it off stock firmware, I'll lose the ability to get it on Virgin mobile.
Thanks
As far as I know, you'll need stock to activate. And we have no stock roms, just an ruu. So if you don't know about ruus, I'd wait.

[Q] Cant switch Rooted Evo to another account.

Now that I am with AT&T, I have no use for my Evo. Well, a good friend at work dropped her evo and cracked the screen. Long story short, I gave her my old Rooted evo but we ran into a problem. When she went to have it activated on her account, they couldn't get a certain star code to work in order for her to either retrieve or enter some information. (IDK, I wasn't there). The rep on the phone said it was due to the fact that it was rooted with a "cooked" ROM. So, my first question is 1. Does anyone have or know of a rom that I can flash that wont cause this issue when she tries to activate it on her account again and 2, If not, does anyone have an RUU file with a shipped rom because all the links I have found no longer work. Thanks.
What ROM was on the phone?
You have to be running a Sense ROM in order to activate, use the dialer functions, update profile and PRL. Just flash a stock rooted ROM and it'll be fine. Here is a stock rooted ROM from Captain Throwback. It's based on the most recent software update.

Also, here are the RUU files for the EVO, should you decide to go that route, instead.

[Q] Been troubleshooting for hours. bricked?

I just got this phone as a trade to my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Phone has unlock bootloader, rooted, s-off, and running Stock Google Play Edition KOT49H.H16.
Since i will be using it for ATT, i installed TWRP for ATT and downloaded ViperOne 1.6 for ATT as well. for the past 6 hours i still cannot get it to work. i keep on receiving errors Status 7.
I have tried multiple roms from both ATT and Tmo but no luck.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that even though you will be using the phone on AT&T you will still need to use T-Mobile recoveries, kernels, ROMS, radios, etc...

The poster above is correct - generally recoveries should match the phone.

OP did you flash the correct recovery? As others have said you cannot use AT&T TWRP if your phone is a T-Mobile variant. If you keep having issues try flashing PhilZ CWM.
Got it to work. After doing much research. Cannot go back to sense if the phone was flashed with GPE. Gotta wait until tmo RUU.
