I'm currently on a deodexed EF02 ROM with a rEVOlution Theme. I want to change to the MyAosp Theme, but whenever I try to, I always get stuck in a boot loop. I wipe Cache like it says to, but it still doesn't boot. Is there a special procedure/ritual we have to do to change themes. I tried I different theme, it was a stock gingerbread blue theme, and that didn't work either.
Try wiping cache
Also make sure that the themes you flash are for ef02

I'm thinking you didn't read my OP. Let me quote this for you;
"I wipe Cache like it says to,"
And it is for EF02.
If I remember correctly, revolution remix has the lock screen mod and my aosp does not. If I'm correct on that, then the error you are getting is do to having an incompatible androidpolicy.jar file with the framework of the new theme.
So what should I do?
Try to redownload the theme. See if that works.

I ran into a problem like that, and had to start back from scratch fresh odin and what not, re download the file to make sure 1st one wasn't corrupt. Try again?

Pull the jar file from the system/framework folder from the rom you are running and drop it in the system/framework of the zip of the theme you are using.

Some reason I tried flashing another rom but it won"t let me and keeps going back to the original rom. I had frankenstein and wanted to check out viper. I dled the viper rom and dropped it into my sd and wiped and did the usual through cwm but everytime i boot back up iot goes to frankenstein.. Any ideas? I even deleted the frank rom just to make sure but that shouldnt make a difference should it?
What version of clockwork? You will need version 3.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
yeah that"s the one I got. It says Viper opened and completed but after reboot it reverts back to franken
oh crap you know what. I have v2.5.1. That's the one I got with that 1 click root process. Is there an updated clockwork for the epic?
same thing too
That happend to me to but from mystic mountain to frankenstein. What i ended up doing was odening to stock rerooting and then flashing. You don't even have to wipe because odining it technically wiped it lol.
seems like a lot of work just to change roms. What doesnt make sense is that randyshear from youtube that does a lot of the rom reviews and installs just changes them one after another with his epic. Is there a 3.0 cwm for epic?
There is a new clockwork version for the epic. I am on my phone so don't have the link but it is a post in the development section.

I just checked their is a link to cw 3 in the first post of viper rom.

its a zip file and i tried to go thru the manager like i did my elite hd theme but it didnt work..
Older miui version have issues with theme manager. I tried 3 and worked only on one of them (beleive last pne but not sure). Theme must be .tmz or .tzm -,not zip and does NOT install with flashing like sense.

Just for future reference, it never hurts to clear your cache or dalvik. I do it whenever I flash anything...or sometimes just because it's been a month since I have rebooted.
is there any benefit to clearing your cache or dalvik after deleting anything from the sdcard?
or should this be done regularly?
Just curious.
Thanks.

Here's the way I think of it...some flashable things require it (and usually say somewhere), but you don't HAVE to do it if your phone is operating normal, and your not flashing anything...BUT, it never hurts to...and the rest is me just being anal.
Can some one post a thread on how to install custom themes and splash screens? I've been searching like crazy , I figured out how to push bootanimations which is great just don't know how to flash custom themes and splash screens. P.s I just need the links ..

You flash themes through recovery just like you would a rom - just make sure it's compatible with your phone and rom. Some roms have theming built in so you don't have to flash, ie CM7 and MIUI.
I've never used a splash screen before, but I'm sure installation instructions would be in the thread for the splashscreen.
Or Google.

What Recovery are you using? After it flashes it should send you back to the choose zip screen. Are you sure it's a flashable zip and not an apk for the Theme Chooser that was zipped?

darkhorse is a flashable theme. i think you're doing everything rigt, just back out to the main menu and reboot then.
check the link in my sig for the splash screening. it's a tutorial i made that lets you install any splash using either a manual ruu push or a pc36img.zip ruu. i'll update it soon to include recovery flashing, using edify scripts. just realized ur posting from xda app. lemmie give you the link... edit: here ya go http://tinyurl.com/47xqb4k
I am running sydicate frozen 1.2 w genocide kernel ec05. When I first rooted and installed my new rom n junk, I could flash any ec05 nocid noproblem but now I keep gettng FCs after flashin between a couple themes. Even if I clear both caches, hard reset, reinstall ROM, etc and try a fresh install w a theme. Everything I tried will still result in FCs now. I tried everything but reflash stock ROM and reflash SRF but I don't see how reflashing stock ROM then SRf would be any different. Any idea what gives?
Any help is appreciated.

You have data corruption. You will have to wipe everything and start over on a fresh Rom. Use the .zip in the SFR thread to turn on journaling once you have the new rom flashed.

Install your ROM, reboot, then CIQ, then Themes... Sometimes doing them all in the same CWM session junks'em up. =)

I'm running a ROM w nociq. I prefer nociq. I only do 1 flash per cwm boot. Unless its a boot screen or something that won't interfer.
Should I be running CIQ to prevent this? If so, is that even possible without flashing a ciq rom?

Yes it is.
Edit: I am also running the Faux kernel, not sure if that makes a difference or not
I just wiped my phone and restored to stock, Downloaded the zip from this page just to make sure I'm testing the same file. Flashed the zip and had no problems.
It may be something to do with the Kernel your using.
Im on rooted stock mdl and it boot looped for me.

sounds like a Build.prop issue if you dont save build.prop with the proper permissions.
Root explorer should set the permissions for you if you are editing the build.prop with root explorer. That would be the only reason I can see for a boot loop.
I did use root explorer. Ill try again.

Can you edit the build.prop after the fact and then have it work?
Here's where I think I went wrong:
1) I already had Wallet installed, but it would just tell me I had an invalid device (probably should have uninstalled it)
2) Like an idiot, I didn't do the build.prop steps first
3) Flashed the file in CWM and Fix Permissions (Stuck on 4G LTE screen)
4) In an effort to recover from this, flashed TWRP and reflashed zip and fixed permissions (no luck)
5) Pulled build.prop with adb, edited it, pushed it back and set perms to rw-r-r
6) Retried flash/fix perms with TWRP
Still no go...anyone have any thoughts on what I can do to recover without a reflash of a ROM?
Am I lost if I didn't do the build.prop first?
Thanks,
Jason
if u get stuck on set up screen!i i made sure the build prop said sprint and then i wiped the data of google wallet and cache, then i rebooted. Then after the reboot i turned on google wallet and now i have a fully functional google wallet!
I dont know if this will work for u, but this method did get me past the set up screen ....

I appreciate the response. I ended up reflashing stock OTA, and after I root again, I'll give it another try.
I follow the instructions and ended up boot looping ... ended up having to wipe and reflash new rom to get back running. Was running stock rooted odexed rom with mdl base.

Same here. Rooted on Stock Odexed MDL. Good thing I had made a backup prior though... Please fix when you can . More people than not are experiencing boot loops/soft bricks and having to reflash. Not a one-off case here. As always, keep doing your thing, DEVS!

when is it bootlooping for you guys? at what step??
after editing build.prop
or
after flashing zip
or
after installing the exposed and/or module?
I don't know how people are boot looping? Weird! It's work exactly as it says it does.

I renamed the build prop ( had write permissions set for the system folder). And then rebooted into recovery. Flashed the file and then restarted and thats where it bootlooped. And by bootloop for me it was just stuck on the white tmobile 4g lte screen. Didnt make a backup either so had to wipe and reflash. Not a huge deal for me but just wanted to report back to try n figure out where the issue might be.

Bootlooping after flashing zip & fixing file permissions and then trying to reboot back to system.
Tried refixing permissions. Tried wiping both caches. No go.
Then I tried reflashing my ROM, but now I get stuck at the Samsung Galaxy S4 screen...
Odd. Never ran into a situation that I couldn't do a full wipe and flash to get out of.
